Season 4 Chapter 21: The Glasses Boy's Choice (2)
The story of Adam and Eve
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Adam and Eve" from the Bible's book of Genesis
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All things in the heavens and the earth have been made. And on the seventh day, when the work of God's creation was finished, he rested from all his work on the seventh day. God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it God rested from all his work of creation.
This is how the heavens and the earth were created, in the day when the LORD God made them: There was no vegetation in the field, and no herbs in the field had grown: for the LORD God had not yet rained on the earth, and no one had ploughed the land, but a mist rose from the earth and moistened the earth. The LORD God made man out of the dust of the earth, and breathed life into his nostrils, and he became a living soul, and his name was Adam.
The Garden of Eden
And the LORD God set up a garden in Eden in the east, and he placed the man he had made there. The LORD God causes every tree to grow out of the ground, so that it may be pleasing to the eye, and the fruit thereof is good for food. And in the midst of the garden there was a tree of life, and a tree of good and evil. And a river flowed out of Eden to nourish the garden, and from there it was divided into four ways: "The name of the first is Bishon, which is round all the land of Hawirha. There is gold there, and the gold of the land is good; There there were pearls and red agate. The name of the second river was Gihon, and it was round about all the land of Ethiopia. The third river was called Hedekiel and flowed east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrat.
And the LORD God put the man in the Garden of Eden, and made him repair and keep it. The Lord God said to him, "You may eat as much as you like from every tree in the garden, but you shall not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day you eat of it you will surely die." "
Choosing a spouse for a man
The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone, so I will make him a spouse to help him." "And all the beasts of the field, and every fowl of the air, which the LORD God had made out of the earth, brought him to see what his name was. And what the man called every living creature was its name. And he gave names to all the livestock, and to the birds of the air, and to the beasts of the field, but the man did not find his spouse to help him. The LORD God put him to sleep, and he slept; So he took off one of his ribs and put the flesh together. And the LORD made a woman out of the rib which he had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, "This is the bone of my bones, and the flesh of my flesh, that I may call her a woman, and the kingdom that she may be taken out of a man." "Therefore a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. At that time, the husband and wife were naked, and there was no shame.
The first ancestors were tempted
But the serpent is more cunning than all the living creatures of the field. The serpent said to the woman, "Did God really say that you should not eat of all the trees in the garden?" "The woman said to the serpent, "Let us eat from the trees of the garden; But of the fruit of the tree in the garden, God said, 'You shall not eat of it, nor touch it, lest you die.'" "'。 The serpent said to the woman, "You will not necessarily die, for God knows that in the day you eat your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God who knows good and evil." "
Disobedience to the Lord's commands
So when the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food, and pleasing to the eye, and lovely, and wise, she plucked it and ate it. and to her husband, and she also ate it. And their eyes were bright, and they realized that they were naked, so they took the leaves of the fig tree and made a dress for themselves.
And a cool breeze arose, and the LORD God walked in the garden. And when the man and his wife heard the voice of God, they hid themselves in the trees of the garden from the presence of the LORD God. The LORD God called the man and said to him, "Where are you?" He said, "When I heard your voice in the garden, I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself." And Jehovah said, Who told you to be naked? Have you eaten of the tree that I commanded you not to eat? The man said, "The woman you gave me to live with me, she gave me the fruit of the tree, and I ate it." Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What have you done?" The woman said, "The serpent tempted me, and I ate it." "
The Lord God said to the serpent, "Cursed is what you have done, above all the beasts of the beast." Thou shalt walk on thy belly, and thou shalt eat dirt all the days of thy life. I will make enmity between you and women; and thy seed and the offspring of the woman are enmity against one another. The offspring of the woman shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Then he said to the woman, "I will multiply the pain of your childbearing, and you will suffer much when you give birth to a child." Thou shalt desire thy husband, and thy husband shall rule over thee. Then he said to Adam, "Cursed is the earth for your sake, because you have listened to the voice of your wife and eaten of the tree that I commanded you not to eat." and thou shalt toil all the days of thy life, that thou shalt get food out of the ground. The earth will bring forth thorns and thistles for thee, and thou shalt eat the herbs of the field. and thou shalt sweat thy face before thou shalt eat, until thou wilt return to the earth; for thou art out of the earth. You are dust, and you will return to dust. Adam named his wife Eve because she was the mother of all living beings. And the LORD God made garments of skins for Adam and his wife.
Expulsion from Eden
The Lord God said, "He is like us, and knows good and evil." Now lest he stretch out his hand and pluck the tree of life to eat, and live forever. And the LORD God sent him out of the Garden of Eden to cultivate the land out of which he had come out. So they threw him out. And he set cherubim on the east side of the Garden of Eden, and flaming swords on every side, to guard the way of the tree of life.
