006 Triwizard Tournament
"Why didn't you see the Mad-Eyed Man?" Fred asked aloud, the sorting ceremony was always noisy, and at this time a man named Malcolm was always noisy. Bardock's freshmen were sorted into Slytherin, and George stood up and booed,
"Late, huh?" Lawrence replied, "Mr. Weasley only went to help him this morning?"
"I've heard Bill say before that he's amazing—" George said, sitting back in his seat, "I'm so curious about him, I mean, Bill sees goblins and mummies all the time, and it's not unusual to be called that by him."
"I heard that the Mad Eye Man has a lot of mana, maybe he can last a few more years?" Fred frowned, "I mean, everyone says this class is cursed, right? None of the professors can teach for more than a year."
When the last Kevin. Whitby was assigned to Hufflepuff, and the sorting ceremony was over, and Professor McGonagall left the hall with her old hat on, and Dunburydo stood up with his usual smile and open arms as if to hug each student.
"I'll just say one word." Deng Bulido said, his deep voice echoing through the hall, "Eat and drink."
"Just waiting for you—" Fred grabbed his knife and fork, George pulled a plate of roast chicken, Lawrence took a drink, everyone chatted while eating, exchanging information with each other, the dishes on the table were replaced by desserts, and when the last baked pudding disappeared from the table, Dunburydo stood up again,
"I need to inform you of a few things—" Dunbury smiled, "Filch, the administrator, wants me to tell you that the school's list of contraband has been added this year...... Belch...... How many? Examples: Weasley Whole Man Candy Series, Weasley Fake Wand, Weasley Headless, Weasley ...... Well, the list is five hundred and twenty-two, and I think anyone interested can check it out of Filch's office, or ask the two Weasleys—"
Deng Buliduo looked at the twins, the corners of his mouth moved slightly, he blinked, and the twins laughed loudly,
"I still want to remind you that students are not allowed to enter the Forbidden Forest, and students below the third grade are not allowed to go to Hogsmeade Village." Dunburidore said, pausing, "I'm sorry to announce that there will be no Quidditch matches at Hogwarts this year."
"What?" Harry exclaimed in surprise, he turned his head to look like Fred and George, but to his surprise, Fred and George just grinned at him,
"Because an event will start at the end of October and will last for a whole year, it will take up most of our teachers' time and energy, but I promise you'll love it, and I'm happy to announce that this year at Hogwarts—"
"Bump—" A deafening voice interrupted Dunburidos, the door to the hall opened, and a man with a hood, holding a staff, and wearing a black traveling cloak entered, and a bolt of lightning struck the ceiling of the hall, and the man unbuckled his hood, revealing his dark gray hair,
Another lightning bolt, this time everyone could see the man's face, his face was full of scars, his nose had been cut off, his left eye was blue, big and round, it was a magic eye, he walked towards the professorship as if no one was around, and there was a "knock" sound of footsteps, and everyone noticed that his left foot was stepping forward, revealing a wooden prosthetic foot, and with claws, he walked up to Dunbulidos and shook hands with him, and they whispered a few words, and the man sat down on Dunburido's right hand,
"Let me introduce you, this is our new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor," Dunburydo said, "Alasto. Professor Moody's."
No one clapped, everyone was stunned, and Moody didn't seem to care about it, Lawrence looked at the magic eye and whispered praise, the twins were also excited,
"It's amazing." George said,
"It's the first time I've wanted to take a class like this." Fred whispered,
"Back to what I said," said Dunburidore, "we're honored that over the next few months, Hogwarts will host a very exciting event that hasn't been held in over a century, and I'm happy to report that Triwizard Tournament will be held at Hogwetcher this year!"
"Maybe some of you don't know what the Triwizard Tournament is, but if you know, let me explain a little, and I'll allow you to take a nap," Deng Bulido smiled, "The Triwizard Tournament was founded about seven hundred years ago, and it was a kind of friendly competition between three European magic schools. The three schools are: Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. Each school selects a warrior to compete in each of the three magical disciplines, and the Triwizard Tournament, which is held every five years and is hosted by the three schools in turn, is agreed to be a great way for young wizards from different countries to build friendships – but eventually, due to the high number of deaths, the Triwizard Tournament was discontinued."
"For centuries, people have tried to resume playing," Dumbledore continued, "but not once has it been successful. However, we, the Department of International Magical Cooperation and the Department of Magical Sports of the Ministry of Magic, believe that the time is ripe. We've done a lot of work this summer to make sure that every warrior doesn't put their lives in danger."
"In October, the principals of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang will come with their carefully selected students, and the ceremony of selecting the warriors will take place after the Halloween dinner. An impartial judge will decide which student qualifies for the competition to win honour for their school, and in addition to that, the winner will receive a prize of one thousand Galleons."
"A thousand Galleons! I'm going to participate!" Fred whispered, George also clenched his fists, obviously there were not many students with the same intentions as them, at the table in each house, there were people who looked at Dumbledore feverishly, or whispered excitedly, and many people turned their eyes to Lawrence to see his reaction,
"Lawrence, will you participate?" George asked in a low voice,
"Sounds interesting—" Lawrence replied,
"The death toll—" Hermione emphasized, "didn't you hear what Professor Dunburydo said?"
"I know you're all eager to win the Triwizard Tournament trophy for Hogwarts," Dunbulido continued, and everyone fell silent again, "However, the participating schools and the Ministry of Magic have agreed that there is an age limit for this year's contestants, and only students who are seventeen years of age or older are allowed—"
"Are you kidding?" Fred's indignant protest, and there was also a buzzing discussion in the hall, obviously many people were dissatisfied with this restriction,
"I'm not kidding, Mr. Weasley," Dunbull laughed, "but since you're joking, I've heard a funny joke about a mountain monster, a dominatrix, and a leprechaun all going into a bar for a drink......
"Uh-huh!" Professor McGonagall let out a loud warning sound, and she cleared her throat, apparently she had a big opinion on the so-called 'joke',
"Well, maybe now isn't the time to tell jokes, where am I going?" "Ah—yes, the seventeen-year-old age limit, it's a very important measure, and no matter how much precautions we take, the competition is still very difficult and dangerous, and it is impossible for students below the sixth and seventh grades to deal with it—ah, yes, I want to thank Mr. Rovande, who is already in the sixth grade -- otherwise I would be too embarrassed to say it."
Amid the proud roar of the Gryffindor table, Fred and George patted Lawrence on the shoulder,
"You must participate, brother." Fred said, "Of course we're not going to give up."
"We're going to have to try the age limit," George said, "though we don't think we'll have a chance of making the ...... if you participate."
"Let him decide for himself." Hermione frowned,
"I think I'll attend," Lawrence replied,
"But you're not seventeen yet." Hermione said, and the twins let out a sneer,
"The Halloween dinner will be announced," Lawrence said, "and I happened to be seventeen that day."
"But, the death to-" Hermione said,
"After graduation, I plan to travel around the world, see all kinds of magic, and walk in the wilderness." Lawrence said calmly, "You don't think I'm planning to visit Muggle areas, do you?"
"The Beauxbatons and Durmstrang delegations will arrive at the end of October and will spend most of the school year with us. I know, and I hope, that you will all be warm and friendly during our foreign dignitaries here," Dunburydo said with a smile to the chattering students, "and once a Hogwarts Warrior is chosen, you will support him or her wholeheartedly. Okay, it's not early, so it's important that you can go to class tomorrow morning feeling refreshed and clear-headed – go back to your dorm and go to bed – or does anyone want to sing the school song with me?"
All the students quickly moved towards the entrance of the hall, and the professors' expressions were embarrassed, because Deng Buliduo had already begun to sing the school song to himself,
"The seventeen-year-old limit, that's ridiculous." Fred grumbled, George nodded,
"A thousand Galleons," Ron's mind seemed to drift into the distance,
"How did they decide who the fair judges would be in the tournament?" Harry asked,
"A cup," Lawrence replied, "a flame cup."
"What's that?" All are confused,
"A powerful magical contract, and the chosen one must do their best to complete all the events." Lawrence said, looking at Hermione's curious expression and adding, "The library has relevant materials, if you are interested, you can check it out, on the fourth level of the seventh shelf."
"Do you think age-enhancing agents work?" Fred asked eagerly, "I think we just need a few drops—"
"I'm not sure," Lawrence frowned, "but I guess it's difficult, because it's not just the Flame Cup that you're going to hide."
"Who else is it?" George was surprised,
"It's Dunburydo," Lawrence replied, "the greatest great magician of our time."
