Chapter Eighty-Six: Kajabi

Bow and thank the "Zhao Family, Zhao Ang" and "Sky Phoenix Blue" for their 100 each!

The long journey has ended, a new chapter is about to begin, and I ask my brothers and sisters to continue to support Xiaomo!

The journey from Mount Isa to Kajabi is almost a hundred kilometres, about the same as the distance to Clonkrí.

From Mount Aissa, follow the A2 motorway for about 15 kilometres east to a northbound dirt road that leads north to Kajabi on the north bank of the middle reaches of the Rashihat River.

Like Mount Issa and Cloncri, Kajabi is located on the edge of the Barkley Terrace, and all three cities are located in the MacArthur Fault Basin, although Kajabi is located closer to the edge of the Fault Basin.

Perhaps because of this, Kajabi has never been a major mining industry, on the contrary, Kajabi is a small town dominated by agriculture and animal husbandry.

Kajabi is undoubtedly much smaller than Mount Issa and Cronkrry, and would be hard to find on the map if it weren't for the fact that this town is one of the three terminus of the Western Queensland Railway.

Kajabi is not even as large as Birdsville, where Tang Feng once passed, and the number of people who settled here was only forty or fifty, and most of the residents here were mainly ranching, and there were many private ranches around the town.

In the north-west of Queensland, although the climate is still dry, it is much wetter than the south-west of Queensland, so although it is located on the Buckley Terrace, there is still good pasture in Kajabi because of the decent precipitation and the Lechhat River.

Speaking of Kajabi, there is actually a direct connection with Mount Aisa, and that is the Leshihat River. The Lechhat River originates in the mountains south of Mount Aisa, and Mount Isa is located upstream of the Lechhat River. After passing through Mount Essa, the Lechhat River was artificially walled with a reservoir in the mountains north of Mount Ash, namely Lake Mundara, which supplies fresh water to the city of Mount Essa.

On the east side of Lake Mondara, there is a man-made dam about 150 meters long, through the discharge of this dam, the clear water of Lake Mondara continues to flow north along the course of the Lechhat River, and after more than 60 kilometers, it is surrounded by humans with the help of the local terrain to form an artificial freshwater lake called Lake Julius.

On the north shore of Lake Julius, there is also an artificial dam that controls the flow of precious fresh water downstream. After walking about fifty kilometers, you will see Kajabi on the north bank of the river.

In other words, if there are no two artificial dams on the Lechhat River, you can get to Kajabi by taking a boat from Mount Isa and drifting up the Lechhat River for almost 120 kilometres.

Tang Feng set out from Mount Isa early in the morning and followed the dirt road north to Kajabi, a hundred kilometres away, at eight o'clock. At this time, Kajabi had woken up from his sleep, and the hard-working herdsmen were either taking care of their household affairs or driving to the pasture to graze, in short, the little Kajabi gave Tang Feng a sense of prosperity.

Perhaps because of mining cities like Mount Issa, the air quality in Kajabi is very good, and if it weren't for the high temperatures and slightly dry air, it would be a good place to retire.

Perhaps because there are often self-drive tourists driving through the town, the town's residents are not at all surprised by Tang's arrival, on the contrary, they are as welcoming to outsiders like Tang, just as they are in other small towns in Australia.

Tang Feng liked this town very much, so he did not hesitate to find the only motel in the town, the Old Jack Motel.

Obviously, the owner of this motel with a small area is named Jack, and he has the same surname as Jack in "Titanic". However, it is obvious that the owner of the motel can not be compared with the handsome young man like Xiao Lizi, in fact, the owner of this motel is really old, almost seventy years old, and the folds on his face reveal the vicissitudes of life.

"Hello, young man, is there anything that can help you? I'm the owner of this hostel, you can call me Old Jack, just like the name of this hostel! Wow, what a cute little one! Although Old Jack was very old, he was very energetic and talkative, and received Tang Feng in the house with a smile.

"Hello, old Jack, I'm Tang Feng, from Huaxia, you can call me Tang, these two little guys are called Depp and Donnie, they are very likable." For the elderly, Tang Feng is always very respectful, whether it is the old Keys he met in the Olympic Dam or the current old Jack, the old people can always make Tang Feng have a kind of respect from the heart. After all, although these old people are old, their life experience is very rich, and Tang Feng can always learn a lot by talking to these old people.

"Don, are you going to stay in the hotel?" Old Jack asked with a smile, and poured a cup of coffee for Tang Feng very enthusiastically, it seemed that Old Jack had just brewed coffee, and it tasted very good when asked.

After saying "thank you", Tang Feng said: "Yes, I came from Adelaide, and after coming here, I suddenly liked it." The scenery is great, the air is good, and the main thing is that I met the first inhabitant of the place, which gave me a good feeling. ”

Old Jack laughed and said, "Don, I won't be the first resident you say!" ”

"Why not? Sir, your enthusiasm makes me feel the warmth of this town, I love it here! So I wanted to stay here for a few more days and have a good rest. ”

Old Jack smiled: "You should take a break, from Adelaide to here, it is almost two thousand kilometers, almost the entire Australian continent, young man, you are very good, and I envy you." You know, when I was younger, I used to drive to Adelaide and go back the way I came. It's a pity that now that I'm old, I can't do those things anymore, and I can only watch you young people do these things. ”

While listening to Old Jack's chatter, Tang Feng picked up the cup of coffee that was still steaming, took a sip, and then praised: "I have to say that your craftsmanship is this!" Tang Feng gave a thumbs up, which made Old Jack laugh proudly.

After chatting with Old Jack for a while, when Tang Feng finished the coffee in the cup, he politely declined Old Jack's offer to have another drink, and then followed Old Jack to the room.

Like the motels in the Australian outback towns, the conditions of these hotels are not very good, and they are all converted from unoccupied rooms by local residents. However, although the conditions of these hotels are not as good as those star-rated hotels in big cities, they are better than a warm one. Staying at such a small inn makes you feel like you're at home.

If you are staying for a long time, this feeling will be deeper, because if you live in this kind of small motel, if you are willing to eat in the hotel, then you will often get special care from the hotel owner, for example, the owner will ask you what flavor you like to eat before cooking, what you want to eat today, as long as the owner can do it, it will usually meet the customer's requirements.

Along the way, Tang Feng also deeply felt the warmth of these motels in the Australian outback, so in comparison, Tang Feng really preferred to live in this kind of small hotel.
