Chapter 62: Six Realms of Reincarnation
The Six Paths and Six Paths, a Buddhist term, refers to the six realms in which sentient beings live and are reincarnated, namely: 1. The Heavenly Path, 2. The Asura Path, 3. Humanity, 4. The Animal Path, 5. The Hungry Ghost Path, and 6. The Hell Path.
Pen ~ fun ~ pavilion www.biquge.info the middle and upper three paths, for the three good paths, because their karma (good and evil karma, that is, cause and effect) is kinder, and the lower three paths are the three evil paths, because their karma is more miserable.
All sentient beings who are in the stage of birth and death are reincarnated in these six realms.
The so-called reincarnation: refers to its life and death, coming and going, just like the rotation of the wheel, in these six realms of the cycle and repeatedly, there is no period, so the name of the six reincarnation.
All living beings in the world are in reincarnation, and only the realm of immortals and gods can jump out of the Three Realms and transcend reincarnation.
First, the Tao Dao, that is, the meaning of being able to pass, is said to be the six ways of life and death, and the exhibition is connected, so it is called the six ways.
1. Heavenly Dao Heavenly Dao, Tiandao, that is, natural, natural happiness is victorious, it is the name of Heavenly Dao.
2. Humanitarian, humane, forbearance.
In the realm of bitterness and happiness in the world, and being able to endure is a celebrity.
3. Shura Dao, Sanskrit Asura, Huayan without wine, and words without righteousness, and words without law.
This road or live on the coast, at the bottom of the sea, or in the cave of Mount Meru, the palace is strictly decorated, with suspicion and jealousy, often belligerent, it is the name of the Asura Road.
(Those who have no wine, Fahua Shuyun: Shura is in the four heavens, picking Hua and brewing the sea for wine, fish and dragon karma, its taste remains the same, so he is jealous and vows to stop drinking, so there is no wine in the clouds.)
Unjustifiable, Shura type, ugly men and ugly women, so the clouds are unjust.
The one who has no heaven, the pure name is sparse and the clouds are clear: this god has the most victorious retribution, and the heavens are next to it, not the sky, and there is no heavenly virtue, so the clouds have no sky.
4. The Hungry Ghost RoadThe Hungry Ghost Road is said to live at the bottom of the sea, or in the mountains and forests of the world, or resemble a human form, or resemble a beast form, and are not allowed to eat and drink.
Those who have heavy karma are hungry and scorching, and they don't hear the name of pulp water; secondly, to serve the world to cleanse the pus, blood and feces; The light, when thin and full, is a hungry ghost.
5. Animal life road, animal life, animal life, and cloud life.
It is said that this Tao is everywhere, wearing hair and horns, scales and feathers, its kind is not one, swallowing each other, suffering endlessly, it is a beast Tao.
(The Sideways, the Bodhisattvas: Beside the Shape.)
Those who are in the shape are said to be in shape, and they are not right; Those who walk by the side are said to have done in their past lives, and they are biased and unrighteous.
6. Hell Road, Hell Road, it is said that this prison is under the ground, and there are wok soup sword trees and other suffering, which is called Hell Road.
2. Hell DaoIn fact, hell and ghosts are two different types of beings.
The name hell appears in many Buddhist scriptures, the most common being "Niriya" in the Libhidharma
(Sanskrit niraya or naraka), which means a place where there is no joy and merit.
And in the "New Treatise on the Buddha", it is called "Narakha"
(Sanskrit naraka), which means that there is no joy and joy.
From the paraphrase, it can be seen that the Hell Dao is the most bitter realm of the six realms of desire, because the sentient beings here not only do not have a trace of joy, but also suffer from all kinds of torture.
For example, in the living hell (also known as the hell of thinking), sentient beings suffer from being cut, stabbed, grinded, and pounded, and their skin and flesh are opened, and they are in pain until they die, and when their bodies are blown by the cold wind, their wounds heal, their bodies are reborn, and they suffer again, and so on, until their karma is exhausted, they can get out of this painful hell.
Moreover, the life span of the beings in hell is very long, and when they are sinned, they really can't survive or die.
According to Master Yinshun in The Path to Buddhahood, hells can be divided into four categories: 1. The Eight Hells: The Eight Hells are the most fundamental of this path, and they are full of flames, so they are also called the "Eight Heat Hells"
, and what Christianity calls "eternal fire"
Similar.
At the bottom is the terrifying Abi Hell, or Infernal Hell.
2. Youzeng Hell: Each of the eight hot hells has four gates, and each gate has four small hells, for a total of one hundred and twenty-eight hells.
All sentient beings who come out of the Eight Heats Hell have to travel here one by one to suffer, so they are called "Wandering Increases"
。
3. Eight Cold Hells: Extremely cold, where sentient beings often mourn because of the cold, and their bodies are also frozen and discolored.
4. Lonely hell: This is a lonely and inhuman life in the mountains, rivers, etc., which can be said to be a hell on earth.
There are a total of eight heats, eight colds, wanderings, and loneliness, and there are eighteen places in hell.
3. The reincarnation of the Hungry Ghost Dao is because of the bad karma created in the previous life, and the heart is stingy and greedy, so it has to suffer the suffering of **.
Although some ghosts can also enjoy the blessings of human beings, but the ten ** are hungry ghosts who can only accept bitter retribution, and they have suffered from lack of food, so they are "hungry ghosts"
for the name.
Most of the hungry ghosts mentioned in the classics are based on food and drink, but they suffer from the hardships of being unable to swallow food, either when they encounter water and become fire, or their throats are thin and they cannot swallow food.
According to the "Treatise on the Land of Yogis", hungry ghosts will suffer from three kinds of obstacles in eating: 1. External obstacles: This kind of hungry ghosts are often subjected to **, so they have messy faces, dry and dry lips, and can only lick their mouths with their tongues.
2. Internal cataracts. Internal cataracts: These hungry ghosts have a thin throat like a needle, a mouth as large as a torch, and a bulging belly like a mountain, but even when they are given food, they cannot swallow because of the thin throat.
3. No obstacles: Although there is no obstacle to the diet of this kind of hungry ghost, no matter what kind of food they receive, they will burn into a fire and still suffer greatly.
Because the good and evil karma created in previous lives is different, the retribution received in the Hungry Ghost Path will also be different.
If the ghosts are rich or poor depending on their living circumstances, they can be roughly divided into two categories: those with and without ghosts; The ghost without Weide lives in poverty, and the ghost with Weide is very rich, and the ghosts and gods sacrificed by folk beliefs are mostly this great Weide ghost.
"The Theory of Great Wisdom" also refers to the ghosts who often suffer from ** as "hungry ghosts" according to the different blessings
Ghosts who have virtue and can enjoy much happiness are called "evil ghosts"
。
Fourth, the animal Tao animal life is sentient for human beings, although there is a difference between cute and unlovely, or the so-called harmful and beneficial, but on the whole, their main characteristic is more bitter than happy, as recorded in the "Past and Present Cause and Effect Sutra", they are not only born with ugly appearance, but also because of the bones, flesh, tendons, horns, skin, teeth, hair, and feathers on the body are regarded as "treasures" by human beings
, and was captured and killed; or being caught by humans to carry heavy burdens, so that they are tired; There are also all kinds of torture such as nose piercing, hooking, whipping, and binding, or even hurting each other, and being in a situation where the law of the jungle is the strong.
Therefore, among the six realms of samsara, animal beings are listed as one of the three evil realms of suffering and misery. In addition, because they are not very intelligent, or even only have nervous reactions, they are unable to understand the Dharma, and they do not even have the opportunity to practice, so they can only wait for the end of their lives to flow with their karma.
In terms of types and quantities, the animal path is the largest among the six realms, and the "Dharma Sutra" even points out that there are as many as 3.4 billion species of animals, which has long exceeded the scope of human imagination.
And these categories of many sentient beings, each other's appearance, posture is very different, diet, living habits are also different, by the range of activities, can be divided into land, air and water three categories, according to the habits of life, can be classified as day, night and day and night three kinds.
The animal path is sometimes referred to as "by-birth"
, if transliterated from Sanskrit, it is also called "bottom chestnut car"
(tiryanc).
The name of the beast refers to the fact that they are often kept by people, but in fact, they cover much more than that, and even extend to all kinds of incredible heavenly realms, hells, and supernatural places in the heavens and the earth.
The meaning of paragenal life is that their shape is different from that of human uprightness, and the way of walking and lifestyle are also sideways and horizontal.
Their lifespans vary as much as many species, ranging from those as short as mayflies to those as long as dragonkings.
5. Humanitarians live in four continents: Dongsheng Shenzhou, West Niuhe Continent, Nanzhan Buzhou, and North Julu Continent.
In the Sutra of Chang Ahan, it is stated that the center of the world is Mount Meru, surrounded by the Seven Golden Mountains, and beyond the Seven Golden Mountains is the vast Aral Sea, where the four continents are scattered.
The four continents are inhabited by different human beings, completely isolated from each other and incommunicado with each other.
We, the human beings on the earth, live in the southern Zhanbu continent, also known as "Yan Futi"
。
People on the four continents have their own characteristics.
The narratives of the four continents are scattered in the classics such as "Chang A Han Sutra", "Lou Tan Sutra", "Theory of the Establishment of the World", "Treatise on Kusha", "Sutra of Heaven and Earth", etc., each continent has its own characteristics, for example, Xiniu Hezhou is characterized by many cows, many sheep, and many pearls and jades; The characteristics of Dongsheng Shenzhou are that the land is extremely wide, extremely large, and wonderful, and the so-called wonderful means that the land is fertile; The people of North Kulu have no difference in skin color, no racial superiority or inferiority, and they do not cry out in sorrow, but this is a place that is regarded as one of the eight tribulations in Buddhism, because there is only pure materialistic enjoyment and no noble spiritual life.
And the biggest characteristic of our people in the southern Zhan Continent is that there are countless **, so they can create all kinds of good and bad karma, but also because they have the ability to think and be ashamed, so they can practice, of course, the most important thing is because human beings have the three characteristics of remembrance, Brahmanism, and bravery.
The outward is for the benefit of others, preferring to sacrifice oneself; willpower and perseverance that can endure all kinds of suffering; Courage is the "Bodhisattva Path" that shows that it is difficult to do, unbearable and unbearable, and unbearable
Spirit.
And in the six realms, there are only people who can really develop bodhicitta and practice bodhisattva behavior, which shows how precious it is to be born in humanity, so the "Nirvana Sutra" volume 32 says: "The human body is rare, like an epiphany"
。
What's more, only one person can practice meditation, become a monk, keep vows, practice, live and die, and become a Buddha.
Therefore, although the human world is full of all kinds of suffering, through the practice of the human body, we can also turn our troubles into bodhi, turn our suffering into joy, and the Pure Land can also be manifested in the human world.
According to the "Theory of Success. The Six Qualities of Karma points out that human beings are reborn because they have created humane karma in past lives.
Regarding the karmic causes of the reborn in the human world, in the 37th volume of the Sutra of Miscellaneous Aham: "If one does not do good karma, he will be born in hell, and if he is reborn in the future, he will suffer all kinds of suffering, and if he does ten good deeds, he will be born in heaven, and then he will be free from all difficulties in rebirth." ”
Therefore, the "Lotus Chinese Verses" says: "The five precepts are human beings, and the ten virtues are born in heaven." ”
If you can observe the five precepts in your past life and follow them for the rest of your life, you will be rewarded with the fruits of human interest in the next life.
6. The Asura Path, which is famous for its belligerence, is only included in the ghosts and gods, or fallen celestials, and Northern Buddhism classifies him in the good path, while Southern Buddhism classifies him in the evil path.
Originally one of the ancient gods of India, the Asura was regarded as an evil god and belonged to the fierce and aggressive ghost gods, who often fought with Shakti.
Just as the Sanskrit translation of asura means "non-heaven"
, his retribution is extraordinary, and he can live as blessed as a celestial man, but he does not have the virtue of a celestial man, and he is fond of fighting.
Those who are reborn as an asura, although they have not committed great evil deeds in their past lives, are very contemptuous and very proud, and either look down on others or are jealous that others are better than themselves.
The detailed article in the Sutra of Karmic Causes and Differences lists the ten karmic causes, including the subtle evils of the body, the subtle evils of the mouth, the subtle evils of the mind, the arrogance, the slowness of self, the slowness of rising, the slowness of rising, the slowness of rising, and the return to the roots of goodness.
Due to the traction of karma, asura can be divided into four lives: fetus, egg, wetness, and incarnation.
The oviparous are in the ghost path, and can use their power to show their supernatural powers into the air; The viviparous is humane, and the reason for the rebirth is that he was originally in the Heavenly Dao, but he was degraded because of his degrading; The wet living are in the animal road, live at the mouth of the water hole, swim in the void, and return to the water at dusk; The incarnate is in the Heavenly Dao, and the birth is talked about.
7. Although the Dharma often emphasizes that "the human body is rare, the Dharma smells bad"
Therefore, it is quite a special cause to be born in the human world, and I have the opportunity to study the Dharma.
But most people still hope to live a "fairy"
life, yearning for envy born in the heavenly realm.
Even on earth, there are people who want to sing the praises of "heaven and earth"
lifestyle.
And the Buddhist scriptures also say that the so-called "celestial beings"
In fact, there are three kinds, one is called "Kana Heaven"
, that is, to live the life of an emperor such as a human king; One is the "Pure Heaven"
, that is, those who have cultivated to the status of an arhat can live a life like a pure celestial; The third type is the sentient beings of the true Heavenly Dao, which are the so-called "celestial beings"
。
Heavenly beings are all over the three realms of desire, color and colorlessness.
Among them, there are six desires in the desire realm, four meditation and eighteen days in the color realm, and four days in the colorless realm, for a total of twenty-eight days.
Among the beings in the heavenly realm, there is still a difference between men and women in the six heavens of the desire realm, and there are also marriages, but it is not like the relationship between men and women in the human world.
In terms of the way they satisfy, the four kings and the heavens are qi and yin; As long as the flame skyscrapers are close to each other, Tushitian looks at each other deeply by holding hands with each other, and he only needs to look at each other for a short time.
The beings in the color world have gotten rid of their attachment to **, but they have not yet been freed from the shackles of the body.
Therefore, whether it is the place where you live, or the body itself, it is already very pure, but it still has a form.
And the biggest difference between them and the beings in the realm of desire is that they have left **, only pure and subtle forms, so they have no difference between men and women, and use light as their language and food.
As for the four heavens of the colorless realm, they are even more transcendent beings in the material world, and they are the heavenly realms born after death of sentient beings who are disgusted with the thoughts of material colors and cultivate the four colorless realms.
In this celestial realm, there is naturally no distinction between men and women.
The life of the celestial beings is charmingly described in the Sutra of Cause and Effect of the Past and Present, such as that their bodies are extremely pure, untainted by dirt and dirt, and full of light like glass, and their eyes are even clearer and brighter.
As long as you have something in your heart, you can make your wish come true, so you can always maintain joy and comfort in your mentality.
On weekdays, he uses Xianle Qingyang as entertainment, and even food and clothing, just like magic magic, as long as the mind moves, it should come.
