Chapter Eighty-Eight: The Soul Shifting Ladder
The later narrative of 1.75 meters is a bit upside down, and even mentions another ancient country, the country of Zhangxiong, if you still record it in the order in which he narrates, you may be dizzy and do not understand what he is trying to say. So I briefly sorted it out, mainly adjusting the order of some narratives, and made some necessary additions by looking up the information.
For the sake of consistency, let's start with the sketch mentioned earlier. The staircase on this sketch is no more, no less, exactly one hundred and eight, an integer multiple of three, each about the length of a finger and thickness, marked in the middle arrows of different directions, some straight to the left, some straight to the right, and some clockwise or counterclockwise, turning from a quarter of a circle to half a circle; There are thirty-six secret doors, and there is no decoration on them, except for a long and flat rectangle, which together with the number three forms a divisor of one hundred and eight.
That is to say, each secret door connects three stairs in different directions, and every three staircases freely combine to connect different secret doors, according to this law, as long as the number of secret doors and stairs is appropriate (the approximate number of three), it is not a problem how much space and how long it extends - for the sake of description, I will first reveal the name of this staircase, it is called the Soul Shifting Ladder, and as for its origin and designer, we will explain it later-so this sketch may only be a part of the Soul Shifting Ladder in this palace.
In addition to the above, there are two more reasons. First, the map does not indicate the corresponding scale size, and it is difficult to say the actual length, width and height of these staircases and secret doors, and whether the uppermost part is the same height as the top of the palace; Second, the design of the Soul Shifting Ladder obviously makes full use of the confusion of space, in other words, the actual Soul Shifting Ladder is a spatial concept, and this sketch is a flat concept, how to measure the size of the space with a plane? This is obviously impossible.
Speaking of the deceptive nature of this space, this is also the most subtle part of the design of this soul transfer ladder. No matter which staircase you go up from at the beginning, or which secret door you pass through, it is impossible to see other stairs, that is, it seems that you have many choices, but in fact, there is only one path in front of you, but the real situation is that all of this is the result of your own choice.
This sounds a bit tongue-in-cheek, but I'll give you a simple example to get the idea. For example, you and Xiao Ming are standing at the same time at different staircases, and it happens that the two stairs you are standing on lead to a secret door, but you can't see each other, even if you arrive at the same secret door at the same time, due to the spatial effect of the secret door, you can't meet, and then, you touch a certain mechanism on the secret door, unless you happen to choose the same path, otherwise you won't meet when passing through the secret door.
Of course, the designer of this soul transfer ladder is not here to play hide and seek with you, as for what his purpose is, and who his true face is, listen to what I will say.
Before the fifth century A.D., when civilization was not so civilized, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, known as the roof of the world, with its unique climate, geology, and resource conditions, became the fat meat that some ethnic tribes in the western region vied with each other. After centuries of bitter fighting among these tribal alliances, they were finally unified by a powerful tribal alliance, Zhang-zhung. Zhangxiong country has a vast territory, has lasted for nearly a thousand years, there are upper Zhangxiong and lower Xiangxiong, the strongest period, the land east to the Sichuan Basin, west to Kashmir, south to Ladakh, north to the Qinghai Plateau, become the earliest civilization center of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. According to relevant historical records, the country of Zhangxiong once had an army of 990,000 people, and according to its calculations, the number of citizens should be as many as millions.
Zhangxiong is not as closed and depressed as Ali today, on the contrary, its production, life and civilization are unprecedented. In addition to relying on the open green corridor between the Himalayas and the Gangdis Mountains, as well as the Peacock River in the south and the Xiangquan River in the west, these three passages open up the connection with the outside world, and the animal husbandry and agriculture of Zhangxiong are also quite developed. After the sister of Songtsen Gampo married the king of Zhangzhung (the last king of Zhangzhung), she sang, "Our food is fish and wheat, and we can't eat it all." "It's the best proof of that.
The high level of political and economic development stimulated the flourishing of culture, and the Zhangxiong people gradually created a unique Zhangzhung language and written symbols. It is recorded in historical materials that before Songtsen Gampo, "there was no writing in Tibet", and "carved wooden knotted ropes". Including the marriage proposal letter written by Songtsen Gampo to Tang Taizong Li Shimin in order to pursue Princess Wencheng, it was all in Xiangxiong script. It is a pity that this language and writing have now lost its inheritors, and few people can understand it, but our archaeologists, especially those who are committed to the study of Tibetan culture, believe that as long as they make unremitting efforts, one day, the mystery of the ancient Xiangxiong Kingdom will be revealed, and when the time comes, it will be presented to the world in front of an incomparable and charming country.
As the old saying goes, if you divide for a long time, you must be together, and if you are together for a long time, you must be divided; Thirty years in the east of the river, thirty years in the west of the river. No matter how powerful a tribal alliance is, there will come a time when it will be swallowed up by a tribe that is even more powerful than it. In the seventh century AD, the Tibetan Dynasty under the leadership of Songtsen Gampo was unprecedentedly powerful, quickly defeating the surrounding tribes, including Zhangzhung, and unifying Tibet. In the second half of the ninth century, a great uprising and royal strife broke out in Tibet, and Tibet collapsed and entered the "partition period" in the ancient history of Tibet, and then after a series of evolutions, it was divided into three in the first and middle of the tenth century, forming three ancient kingdoms of Ladakh, Guge and Puran. Due to their geographical division "from the outside to the inside", known in history as the "Ali Sanwei", they were constantly fighting with each other, and finally ended in the thirties and forties of the seventeenth century, with the victory of Ladakh.
Although the Zhangzhung Kingdom, which once flourished for thousands of years in Chinese history, no longer exists, the descendants of the Zhangzhung tribe have survived in the world in a variety of mysterious ways that are not noticed by the world, and have subtly influenced and even changed Tibetan culture with their unique language and customs. Bon, also known as Ben, is one of them.
The origin and development of Bon is a child without a mother, to say a long story, write more than two or three chapters I see may not be able to finish, even if it is written, you may not be patient to see, it is better for us to save trouble, just need a simple understanding to know, it is the teachings of the Buddha (also known as the ancient Xiangxiong Buddhism), is the core of the ancient Xiangxiong culture. What I'm going to say next is the point.
