Fa Xian lived for three years, studied Sanskrit, Sanskrit, and then copied it by hand and recited it by heart.

One day, Fa Xian suddenly saw the white fan produced in the Jin land enshrined by the merchant in front of the Buddha statue, and he burst into tears and wet his clothes.

In the past two years, the Fa has become the "Misha Seryu", the long and miscellaneous two "Han" and the "Miscellaneous Collection", all of which are lacking in the eastern soil.

After Fa Xian obtained many scriptures, he took a merchant ship along the coast and returned to China, with more than 200 people on the same ship.

One day, when a storm sinked into the boat, everyone panicked and threw their debris under the boat.

Fa Xian was worried that these people would still have his image of the scriptures, so he devoted himself to reciting Guanyin.

The boat drifted with the wind, and after more than ten days, it arrived in the country of Yavati, and the image was intact, and Fa Xian breathed a sigh of relief.

Five months later, Fa Xian took another merchant ship and headed east to Guangzhou.

The ship went safely for more than 20 days, and the storm broke out, and the people on the ship talked one after another, pointing to a foreign monk: "It is because of him that we have made such a mess." You can't bury everyone because of him!" he said, pushing him off the boat.

Fa Xian stood up and rebuked the merchants: "Stop! If you want to push him down, you must also connect with me! Otherwise, even if the ship does not capsize, your life will not be saved." The emperor of Dongtu respects the Buddha, Dharma and monks, I will go back and perform what you have done, and he will definitely punish you with capital crimes!"

The merchant looked at each other and hurriedly stopped. The ship ran out of water and food, and let it drift downstream.

One day I will see the shore.

When Fa Xian saw the green quinoa vegetables, he knew that he had arrived in Jindi.

When Fa Xian and the others went ashore and met the hunter, they asked what place it was, and they knew that it was Changguang County, Qingzhou.

The hunter went back to report to Li Wei, who had always believed in Buddhism, and heard that a monk had come from afar to greet him in person.

Fa Xian lived in the city for a while, and then he wanted to go back to the capital, and he stayed with him for the winter, he said: "The poor monk ventured to the place where all difficulties returned, just to promote Dafa, and now his volunteer has not been extended, and he can't stay for a long time. So he went south and entered the capital city of Jiankang.

In the Dojo Temple, together with Juexian, he translated "The Vinaya of the Maha Sangha", "The Sutra of Fang and Other Nihuan", "Miscellaneous Abhi Tan Heart", etc., nearly a million words.

Looking back on his life, Fa Xian had no regrets, he later came to Jingzhou, continued to preach the Dharma, and finally died in the monastery at the age of 86.

An Xiaoyu said: "Fa Xian saves people in distress, it is really a monk's demeanor." ”

The little monk said: "If you want to talk about crossing people in the sea of suffering, you have to count Master Xuangao. ”

In the first three years of Qin Hongshi, Feng Yi Wannian was a family surnamed Wei.

Housewife Kou Shi dreamed in the middle of the night that the Tianzhu monk sprinkled countless flowers in her living room, and when she woke up in the morning, she was pregnant.

On February 8 of the following year, a boy was born.

On this day, the house was filled with a strange fragrance, and the light that came out of nowhere shone on the walls, and it took a long time to extinguish.

The mother saw that the child had an auspicious omen when it was born, so she named him Lingyu.

This child was the later mage Xuangao.

When Xuan Gao was young, he was also called Shigao because he was valued by people, and he wanted to quit his relatives and go to the mountain to practice at the age of twelve, but his parents did not agree to it anyway.

A few days later, a scholar came to his house to spend the night, saying that he wanted to live in seclusion in the mountains of Zhongchang, and his parents thought that their children had already had this intention, but they loved too much and couldn't give up, so why not let him go into the mountains with this scholar?

It's not okay to force a stay. And so it was decided.

In the evening, their parents and villagers sent them on their way.

The next morning, when another villager came to visit Shigao, his parents were shocked and asked, "Didn't everyone send him away yesterday? Why are you here now?"

The villagers were also puzzled: "What? We don't even know that he is leaving, how can we say that we will send him?"

The parents suddenly woke up: it turned out that it was a man of God who greeted and sent off the child.

As soon as Shigao went up the mountain, he was about to become a monk, and the mountain monk said, "No." If your parents don't agree, how can they help you become a monk?"

He had to grind hard for a while, and negotiated for many days before he was allowed.

Shigao fulfilled his wish, and even changed his name to Xuangao when he was happy, indicating that he completely turned his back on the world and cut off the relationship between the world.

Xuan Gao is intelligent by nature, learns the classics without thinking, and can speak for the mountain monks at the age of fifteen.

After receiving the ordination, Xuan Gao specialized in the study of Zen law, he heard that there was a Buddha in the Guanzhong Buddha Batuo Zen Master in Shiyang Temple to preach the Dharma, so he went to study with the teacher, only ten days to master the wonders of Zen.

Batuo couldn't help but exclaim: "Good, good! This Buddha can comprehend to such a deep extent!"

insisted on not being courteous.

Xuan Gao traveled to Western Qin with a tin staff in his hand and lived in seclusion in Maiji Mountain.

There are more than 100 monks on the mountain, and they all respect him.

Tan Hong, a high-ranking monk of Qindi, also lived in seclusion here and was very friendly with Xuan Gao.

The foreign Zen master Tan Wubi traveled to the West Qin to teach Zen Taoism, but the samadhi of the good heart is in one place, deep and subtle, and the monks of Longyou do not accept it at all.

There are many monks, it is inevitable that there will be a mixture of fish and dragons, two from Henan, respectful in appearance, jealous, often acting wantonly in the background, violating the precepts.

They took advantage of the fact that they were traveling westward to slander Xuan Gao, the son of the king of Henan, saying that he would become a disaster if he accumulated a crowd.

The prince listened to the slander and wanted to do something to Xuan Gao immediately, but the king of Henan did not agree, so he drove Xuan Gao to Lin Yangtang Mountain in Hebei. This mountain is said to be the abode of the gods in ancient times.

Xuan Gao was indifferent to this encounter, he looked calm, and led three hundred disciples to practice all day long, and the meditation realm was changing with each passing day.

Maybe it's the induction of Xuangao's pious cultivation, the Zhong Xin in the meditation hall does not knock on himself, and the incense of the incense burner naturally exudes a breath.

Immortal seekers come to play from time to time, but they have never been harmed by poisonous insects and beasts.

Xuan Gao's apprentices also practiced carefully and grew up quickly, among which Xuan Shao, a native of Longxi, was deeply involved in all kinds of Zen methods and had high divine power.

Gengo can make his fingers flow fragrant and clean water for Gengao to wash.

Xuan Gao also often got all the flowers and incense that were not in the world and offered them to the Buddha.

At the beginning, Master Tan Hong was traveling around Sichuan at this time. The king of Henan admired his high name and sent messengers to invite him.

Tan Hong thought about it for a while and agreed.

In Henan, as soon as the etiquette of the guest and host was finished, Tan Hong said to the king of Henan: "Since the king has far-sighted knowledge and knows how to respect the master, why does he still listen to slander and reject Xuan Gao? I am thousands of miles away, and I have worked so hard to come here, is it difficult to think that I am worthy of your invitation? No, I am just trying to clarify this matter for him." ”

After speaking, he brushed his sleeves and walked out. The king of Henan was red-faced for a while, so he immediately sent a messenger to invite Xuan Gao.

Some of the disciples advised Xuan Gao not to go down the mountain, saying, "They treated you like that at the beginning, how can you go so easily now?"

Xuan Gao replied, "The monks are committed to helping all sentient beings, and they don't have to worry about the past. ”

Xuan Gao persuaded the apprentice, so he packed his bags and prepared to go down the mountain, when suddenly the wind was fierce, the lightning and thunder roared, the woods were broken, the stones rolled up, and the road down the mountain was jammed, and everyone's faces changed for a while.

Xuan Gao knew that it was the gods in the mountains who were blocking him, so he secretly recited a secret mantra: "I once swore to promote the Fa, how can I stay in one place for a long time?"

So the wind stopped, and the stubborn stones gave way. When Xuan Gao returned to the city, from the princes to the subjects, they all respected him extremely and regarded him as a national teacher.

After the Dharma was preached, Xuan Gao left Henan and came to Xiliang, where the king Fu Qu Mengxun valued him very much, and he summoned the talents in the territory to give full play to Xuan Gao's explanation.

Among Xuan Gao's apprentices, there is a Xihai Sanskrit monk Yin, who is narrow-minded, and he is complacent and self-sufficient when he grows a little, saying that he has attained the Arhat Fruit, and there is nothing to understand in Zen Buddhism.

Seeing this, Xuan Gao did not reprimand, nor did he let it go, he secretly used his divine power to let the monk seal in meditation, and see the ten directions of the infinite world, as well as the different methods spoken by the Buddhas.

Sangha Yin spent the whole summer searching for the Dharma he saw, looking for it, and finding that there was no end, before he suddenly woke up, and was immediately ashamed and frightened.

The Northern Wei Dynasty attacked Xiliang, and Du Chao, the king of Yangping, the uncle of King Tuoba Tao of Wei, respectfully invited Xuan Gao.

When he arrived in Pingcheng, he widely preached Zen teachings, and the crown prince Tuoba Huang worshipped him as his teacher.

Tuoba Huang was slandered, and he didn't know what to do for a while, so he asked Xuan Gao: "Master, how can I get rid of this false and untrue net, which has caused me to suffer in vain?"

Xuan Gao asked him to make a golden light fast, and repented sincerely for seven days.

Tuoba Tao had a very strange dream, in which he saw his grandfather and father holding swords with sharp swords, and asked him why he listened to slander and suspected the prince for no reason.

Tuoba Tao was shocked into a cold sweat and immediately summoned his ministers to realize his dream. The ministers said: "The prince is not at fault, and it is indeed as the gods of the former emperor said." ”

After this incident, Tuoba Tao was convinced of the crown prince, and he ordered the prince to assist in handling government affairs and take care of everything.

Cui Hao and Kou Tianshi are very favored people in Tuobatao, these two are afraid that the prince will take away their authority after he ascends the throne, so they threatened everywhere: "At the beginning, the prince did have the ambition of rebellion, but he used the Taoist technique of Xuan Gao to let the first emperor descend to dream, so that he could cover it up, if the demon monk is not destroyed, there will be endless troubles." ”

Tuoba Tao was furious when he heard this, and ordered Xuan Gao to be thrown into prison.

Before this, Xuan Gao had already secretly said to his disciples: "Buddhism is about to decline, and Hui Chonggong and I will probably bear the first disaster!"

Hui Chong is a native of Liangzhou and is being the disciple of Shangshu Han Wande.

In September of the fifth year of Taiping, both of them were imprisoned.

On September 15, he was killed in the southeast corner of Pingcheng, and Xuan Gao was only 43 years old when he died.

When Xuan Gao was killed, the disciples did not know,

One by one, they waited anxiously for news and couldn't sleep at night.

Suddenly a white light flew in on the third watch, circled around the stupa three times, and floated into the meditation room, the disciples were surprised, and then they heard a voice in the light saying, "I am dead." ”

Only then did the disciples know the truth, and suddenly there was a lot of crying in the temple, and the jaws and sparrows that were sleeping in the trees flew away.

In Yunzhong County, 600 miles away, Xuan Chang, the eldest disciple of Xuan Gao, woke up in the morning and suddenly saw a person come to tell him that his master was in trouble and gave him a horse that traveled 600 miles a day.

Xuan Chang whipped back to the capital.

The disciples transported Xuan Gao's body back, and when Xuan Chang saw this, he caressed the corpse and wept bitterly, crying and saying: "Dafa is declining now, is there a day of revival? If so, please sit up with the monk, the monk's virtue is extraordinary, and he will definitely be able to do it." ”
