052 First time on the ground

Over time, the tubes on my father's body were gradually decreasing. In my memory, there should have been four times. I remember that I was there the first time I pulled out the tube. The first time I pulled out almost halfway, it was the most of any extubation ever made. On that occasion, the attending physician's assistant also changed the dressing for my father's surgical wound.

It was the first time I saw my father's scar. It's terrifying! A long, longitudinal wound on the stomach, the wound was stitched with black thread, and it seemed to me that it healed fairly well. On the right side of the ribs, there is a longer transverse wound. Perhaps because the wound was too long, it was not sutured with black threads. The wound looked jagged and covered with metal nails with a cold sheen (very similar to staples). There is a nail at intervals (about five or six millimeters). Afterwards, it was said that it seemed to be stitched together with a machine. Instead of aligning the whole wound with threads and sewing them together, where there are no nails, the flesh on both sides of the cut does not fit very well, some are high on this side and some on that side, so it looks like a terrible pair of teeth. When the doctor uncovered the adhesive tape and applied the potion to the wound, the cold heart surged with endless pain. I know that during this operation, my father endured pain that he had never experienced in his life.

Half of the tubes on his body were missing, especially the removal of the thickest drainage tube on the back, and my father suddenly felt much more comfortable. In my father's own words, "I was comfortable lying down." It turns out that there are tubes on both sides, so it is not good to sleep on your side at all. Lying on his back, he has a thick tube pestle on his back (dialect, meaning something top). And this tube was originally drained out of his body, but not only the back was uncomfortable, but the thick and round wound was pressed, and it would be extremely painful.

I felt comfortable and relaxed, but then came the daunting task. The attending physician's latest instructions came with the removal of the thickest drain with a large jar attached. I understand the meaning of the attending physician, "Life lies in movement", and proper exercise is conducive to the recovery of my father's body.

"From today onwards, it's time to get out of bed and walk around. In the beginning, try it first, you don't have to go far. Even if it's just walking around the ward. Once you've acclimatized, it's time to move around normally. See the hallway outside the door? The doctor said as he pointed to the interior corridor outside the room.

After I nodded, the attending physician continued, "One back and forth at a time, at least twice a day." ”

"Got it." I replied first, and then asked in confusion, "What if I can't walk halfway?" "Actually, I'm still a little worried that exercising is a good thing, but overdoing it is likely to backfire. Such a long distance is almost impossible for the father, who has not been under surgery for a few days, to complete it in one go.

"I didn't tell you to go all at once. Aren't there a lot of extra beds in the hallway, so if you can't walk, sit on the bed and rest for a while. And then go on. No matter how many times you take a break, as long as you can finish it. The attending physician explained with a smile.

"Understood!" Hearing this, my mood immediately became relaxed, "Thank you! ”

As soon as the attending physician left, my father said he wanted to get up. I thought it was my father who wanted to urgently complete the new task assigned by the attending physician. While secretly praising in my heart, I quickly untied the bags connected to the drainage tubes next to the bed on both sides, and then put on my father's shirt. He took the bags in his hand and carefully helped his father to his feet. As soon as my father stood up, he walked to the door.

This was my father's first time in the field. In line with the principle of "be careful to walk the ship of ten thousand years", I just want my father to try it first. I was afraid that my father would fall if he couldn't hold on, so I desperately supported my father's armpits with both hands.

"Let it go! I'm so weak! The father exclaimed with considerable dissatisfaction.

Hearing this, I had no choice but to let go of my hand. But I still hugged my hands from behind, so that if my father couldn't hold on and fell, I could hold him at the first time.

After all, this was the first time to walk after surgery, so my father was quite cautious at the beginning. The father walked quite steadily and slowly. However, after five or six steps, he may find that it does not seem to be as difficult as he imagined, so my father's pace gradually increases.

Seeing that my father had a tendency to "rush out of the door", I hurriedly said to stop me: "Dad, it's just the beginning, don't worry, it's better to go less." ”

"I went to the toilet to pee (the first batch of catheters was included, so from now on I have to get up and go to the toilet easily)!"

I immediately choked on my father's words and coughed twice to hide my embarrassment.

Some people may wonder. If there is only a urinary catheter, how to solve the problem of defecating in the hospital bed? In fact, nasogastric feeding has not been started before the first extubation. Moreover, every patient must have experienced a painful enema before the operation. Since the surgery, only a small amount of nutrient solution has been injected into the nasal cannucle, except for hanging water. Therefore, patients whose stomach and intestines have been cleaned before surgery will almost never feel the feeling of defecation in just four or five days.

However, if you have diarrhea caused by a cold stomach due to the infusion speed of two bottles of nutrient solution a day, as in the case of the south bed, then you can only pull it in bed when you can't get out of bed and walk. However, in addition to the labor of the family and the pain of the patients, it will also add a sky-high stench to the entire ward. Presumably, that kind of scene is not what anyone wants to see.

I had very little to do but hold the bag to which the drain was attached. My father did everything himself, including flushing the toilet at the touch of a button.

When I came out of the toilet and returned to the hospital bed, it was probably because I had already tried hard, and my father, who had always been very strong, didn't take walking seriously after surgery. This forced me to say many times: "Slow down, slow down!" ”

Perhaps, my father's speed is not very fast, but I care too much, and I still hope that my father will be as slow as possible. Because, after all, this is the first time my father walks around the ground after surgery.

The reason why I think my father is walking fast is completely the result of comparing it to the bed on the south side. The young man's father was able to get out of bed and walk around yesterday. But yesterday, the young man's father was only supported by someone else and stood by the bedside. Even today, he walked from his own bedside to my father's bed with the help of his son, and then went to bed. In the process of walking, it is almost faltering and shaky.
