"Idol Master Cinderella" Rin Shibuya's voice actor Ayaka Fukuhara interview
Every year, a large number of newcomers emerge in the Japanese voice actor industry, and for this reason, the Japanese media specially produced a program called "New Voice Actor Illustrated Guide". The latest interview subject is Ayaka Fukuhara, who has starred in popular roles such as "Idol Master Cinderella Girl" Rin Shibuya.
Q: Regarding the work "Idol Master Cinderella Girl", did you accept the role of Rin Shibuya during the audition?
Fukuhara: Yes. I auditioned for the role of Rin. Idol Master is a large-scale work, so I didn't think I would be able to pass Guò when I auditioned.
Q: What was your impression of Rin during the audition?
Fukuhara: It's cool, but people say, "Oh, she's not malicious." So I don't think there's anything wrong with her. During the performance, I naturally put on a "high-minded attitude" (laughs). Anyway, I just accepted the audition with a calm mind, but maybe that's why I was selected.
Q: It's been almost three years since then. So do you have a deep affection for the character?
Fukuhara: Absolutely. I auditioned for the role for the first time as a voice actor, and Rin connected me to a variety of worlds, made me bond with a lot of actors, crew, and had the opportunity to appear at a lot of stage events. The players who had been fond of Rin for a long time were even happier when they heard my voiceover, and I had more opportunities to meet them. So this qiē was brought by her~
Q: Speaking of Rin-chan, there is a very famous line that says, "You are my maker", so does Miss Fukuhara have a favorite sentence?
Fukuhara: My favorite thing about what she said behind the scenes at the end of episode 13 of the anime: "I had a lot of fun with today's stage event. Usually most of the girls in idol anime are "I want to be an idol, I want to be an idol", but Rin is a very rare example, and this is the first time she thinks "It's good to be an idol". She had never thought it was a joy to be an idol before. But when she finally said this sentence in this scene, it can be regarded as in line with her mood. It can be seen from the line that she has encountered a lot of things before, and she has changed.
Q: So, do you have a favorite of Rin's costumes?
Fukuhara: Rin-chan used to work with MetamorphosetempsDefille, and then she wore a gothic costume. During an event, this image of her was posted in the store. I also wanted to wear this kind of dress to a concert, so I made a similar request and got my wish. However, at that time, my hair was still very short, and it was still quite different from her style, and it was the first time that I wore the exact same clothes as the character, and at this moment I sighed: This is an idol.
Q: Now you and she are both black and straight. So did you deliberately want to keep the same hairstyle as her?
Fukuhara: It's just that I've grown my hair. In the past, I sometimes cut it very short (laughs). And as my hair grows, I'm happy if I can get closer to Rin's image. For Rin's character, rather than having a similar image, I hope that my mentality can be close to her.
Q: The second season of the anime will start in July. What is it like to be on the Cinderella Girls dubbing scene?
Fukuhara: I always feel like I'm in a club. What kind of club is it...... Relatively close to a sports-type club? I have some of this feeling, or maybe the wind club (laughs). We eat a lot of things during the break, and we use guò fried chicken and rice balls to enhance the affection, and it feels like everyone eats a lot.
Q: Do you get hungry when you do the dubbing?
Fukuhara: After all, it's a work that is made with a lot of care, and we need to wait for the staff's deliberations, so we eat a lot to prevent getting hungry (laughs). Depending on the outcome of the deliberations, it may be necessary to perform completely different performances.
Q: When preparing your lines, do you also have to consider the changes on the spot?
Fukuhara: That's right. Rin is a member of the trio "Newgenerations", and depending on the plot, she plays different roles among the three people. For example, she is usually confused by Weiyang (voice actor: Sayuri Hara), but once Weiyang is very lost, Rin has to take action. Therefore, when I watched the performance of Ayaka Ohashi and Hara-chan, who voiced Utsuki, I would also adapt to the change. I'm afraid others are on the same page as we are. That's one of the joys of acting.
Q: Will there be an impromptu performance?
Fukuhara: There aren't many opportunities for an improvisational character like Rin, but once we deal with a character for a long time, it is natural to choose the words used by that child, like in a noisy plot, everyone will naturally get into the role. Everyone can think of how to accurately grasp the characteristics of the characters according to the situation, so every time I listen to everyone's dubbing, I think they are amazing.
Q: Speaking of Cinderella girls, there are many concerts and events. Was there anything that impressed you during your previous stage events?
Fukuhara: There are some things that I remember vividly, and the second Cinderella concert in November made a deep impression on me. Rin has a solo part when she sings "Neversaynever". And I don't have a strong ability to resist pressure, and I have cried before and couldn't sing, so I was very scared. But the people around me realized my timidity and took the initiative to ease the atmosphere for me. For example, Hara-chan would dance a strange dance to the song at the concert and then approach me. Leaning on it almost made me "wall-knocking". Anyway, this strange way made me relax a lot (laughs).
Q: There's something so interesting behind the stage (laughs).
Fukuhara: If that scene had been filmed, I wouldn't have known how funny it would have been (laughs). Thanks to this, I was completely relaxed and rejuvenated, after all, I knew I wasn't alone. And all of you must have greeted me with a gentle attitude, so I pulled myself together and exerted all my strength.
Q: Do you feel that the voice actors have also formed a deep friendship with the stage performances and events?
Fukuhara: I've been spending a lot of time with the members lately, and we've been like we've been married for years (laughs). But I feel like we can empathize with each other's feelings. For example, when you have a sub track, there are a lot of people recording at the same time, so it's not easy to tell who you should talk to, right? But the atmosphere is that as soon as someone speaks, someone responds immediately, and it feels great. I'm not really good at looking at the atmosphere, but I think it's very natural among the members, and I think it's a deep bond somewhere that I can't see.
Q: Even if something goes wrong, will others cooperate?
Fukuhara: In the conversation session of the concert, if someone has a problem, someone will cooperate. At the end of the event, everyone would say to each other, "I'm sorry, if only that place had been talked about a little bit in this style." We don't have the feeling of "as long as you're good" at all, and what we want in our hearts is that everyone will work together to make everyone happy. There are many ways to feel happy, but the mood should be the same, and the bond between us will deepen, right?
Q: Speaking of which, have you ever looked at the members from the perspective of a ruler?
Fukuhara: Everyone is cute, but I especially love the combination of Anna Stasia (voice actress: Sumire Uesaka) and Minami (voice actress: Aya Suzaki). Ana Stasia is of Russian descent, so she doesn't speak Japanese very fluently, but that's what makes her cute; At the same time, Minami will actively help her, and Minami's mental vulnerability will be made up by Anna, so that the strengths of the two can be brought into full play. They appear in the anime, join Project Cinderella, and form a group. When I was watching the anime, I thought many times: It's great that these two people can be together.
Q: Cinderella Girls' radio show "デレラジ" has been on the air for a long time. So for Miss Fukuhara, what kind of existence is this show?
Fukuhara: It's been three years since this summer. We started recording at a time when we had never tried broadcasting at all and were cringe, so the staff knew what we were good at and what we weren't good at, and they worked with us to arrange the show. It feels like a place to grow.
Q: Do other people feel that they have grown?
Fukuhara: Of course, there is. Haruka Kamura is very good at reading the atmosphere, and once everyone gets stuck, she will immediately talk to change the atmosphere of the scene. Of course, that kind of change is sometimes a bit unsound (laughs), but he's a very smart guy anyway. Miss Ohashi is calm and realistic, and I, the guy who voices the cool characters, is the most straightforward, and I think they're cooler (laughs). The two of them in everyone's eyes must be different from the two of them in my eyes~
Q: Then I'd like to ask a question about Noboru Dogenzaka (laughs). CINDERELLA GIRLS ALSO HAS A RADIO SHOW CALLED "CINDERELLAPARTY!", AND NOBORU DOGENZAKA IS THE CHARACTER YOU CREATED WHEN YOU CONTRIBUTED TO THE SHOW.
Fukuhara: Noboru Dogenzaka is derived from the name of Rin Shibuya, and when I told everyone that I was submitting under this name, it caused an unexpected reaction, and because I submitted it myself, the repercussions of this name were even greater, so I slowly swelled up (laughs).
Q: At "CINDERELLAPARTY!" When the recording was made public for the first time, even the footage came out.
Fukuhara: It's the first time I've appeared in this kind of show (laughs). It was the most rustic pajamas I've ever bought at the supermarket. Some people even asked: Who is more rustic about this character or this dress (laughs)? And then there are dialogues like "I think I'm more handsome" and "No one asks you if you're handsome, I'm just going to ask which one is more rustic" (laughs). As for the glasses, I also bought them at Dogenzaka (laughs).
Q: In August, there will be an event featuring Cinderella girl animations? Is there anything we can look forward to?
Fukuhara: This event is called the "Summer Carnival", and it is also an extension of the carnival in the anime, so if I could, I hope it will be as successful as the anime. It would be nice if you could watch how the characters grow in the anime, just like they see how the characters grow in the anime, and how we can complete the world view of the anime through this activity. That's why we're preparing carefully.
Q: Speaking of which, it seems that Miss Fukuhara was very envious of voice actors when she was a student, so is she interested in idols as well?
Fukuhara: When girls are young, they often feel like they want to be idols" and "I like good morning girls", and I naturally do the same. However, after becoming an adult, it is more important than "Can I be an idol too?" I don't think I should be able to come. So when I learned that I needed to sing and dance, I was taken aback (laughs).
Q: Did you train yourself to sing and dance?
Fukuhara: I've studied dance before, but I think I should focus on memorizing the movements. Now I'm an actor training for the sake of my body, and I'm also practicing vocal music.
Q: How did you spend your holidays recently?
Fukuhara: Recently, I've discovered that there are many, many things that I don't know, and that makes me very unhappy. That's why I want to go to art museums and movies, and I can gain all kinds of knowledge.
I also did some research on the knowledge of fleets. This is in preparation for the dubbing of "Arpeggio of Blue Steel" (Myoko Service), which will be released in October. People who like battleships must have a lot of information, and I hate it if I don't know anything. But I've always loved learning all kinds of things.
Q: So do you know what the fun of battleships is?
Fukuhara: The girls who appear in "Arpeggios of Blue Steel" are all based on fleets. When I researched the history of the fleet, I found that they had been ridden by many people since their birth, and that there were many stories that happened before they sank, so the anthropomorphic and personified parts of them made it easier for me to understand.
Q: Is there anything you like about music or books lately?
Fukuhara: When it comes to music, I like Nagisa Kuroki. Her voice was solid, but not rude at all. When I went to the supermarket, I heard her song "Tiger Eye" and felt that the lyrics were funny, and then I bought a CD, but it turned out to be out of control. Recently, my interest in music has been very different from in the past, and I would like to hear the kind of songs that singers sing in nightclubs.
Q: Do you have any roles you'd like to challenge in the future?
Fukuhara: It's a violent character. Although this kind of role is very difficult, I believe that many people want to try it. Everyone's understanding of happiness and joy may not be the same, but negative emotions such as rage can induce something in one's subconscious, which is very interesting to me. And there are some things that I can't imagine right now, so I really want to try them.
Q: Are there any characters with a similar setting to date?
Fukuhara: In the sense that she looks a little strange, it's probably the girl named Mari Kurokawa in "Life". She is affiliated with the Occult Society. This kid can use hypnotism, which is a little different, and I myself like urban legends like the supernatural or the seven incredibles, so I felt like I had a lot of overlap with the characters and had a lot of fun with the performance.
Q: Urban legends?
Fukuhara: There are no streets on the map. The staff who knew these stories bought a similar book for me and said, "Miss Fukuhara is good about this, right?" Then I was surprised and said, "What the hell is this!" "As a result, I still watch it when I'm traveling (laughs).
Q: Do you like to watch movies and animations?
Fukuhara: I like it, I like it, but most of the plots of this type of works are difficult to understand. I need to spend time thinking about what's going on, and if I can't understand the plot, I'm very upset (laughs). However, the truth of such works is often "left to the audience to judge for themselves" (laughs).
Q: Finally, would you like to say a few words to our readers?
Fukuhara: Thank you for reading this interview. Recently, whether it's Noboru Dogenzaka who lets you see a new side of me, or me, who has some secondary two diseases myself, I don't force myself to create a role, it's just a part of my many attributes, and I'm going to slowly show more of it in the future, so please don't worry about me, and give me a lot of advice (laughs). In the future, I will also work hard to improve myself in various works and show various attributes, so please advise!
Q: Thank you for your time today!
