Kana Hanazawa talks about "Psychometrician" + music career

The theatrical version of "The Psychometrician", which exceeded 850 million yen at the box office, can be said to have sparked countless topics some time ago. And the work is not only wonderful in the plot, but also the voice actor performance is also in place. Recently, some Japanese media interviewed Kana Hanazawa, who voiced Zhu Changmori, let us have a look!

■ The theatrical version was a big hit, Kana Hanazawa told about "The Psychometrician" and Tsunemori Zhu

Q: The box office of the theatrical version was 850 million yen, which is also quite a record. So could you please look back at the past during the first season of "Psychometrician" ~ the theatrical version?

Hanazawa: When I first started working with the work, I thought it was really interesting. First of all, I was attracted to the plot, and I was very happy every time I read the lines. And after the dubbing is over, I feel lonely. Therefore, I am really happy to see the second season and the theatrical version gradually attract more fans.

I started playing Xiao Zhu in the first season, a girl who always had a sense of justice and self-sacrifice, and as she grew up, she slowly sharpened herself and became a very good mature woman. Playing this gradually growing role, I can't help but wonder what kind of development Xiao Zhu will have in the future.

Q: Honestly, did Ms. Hanazawa have any thoughts that this work would grow to the scale it is today?

Hanazawa: First of all, when I read the project book, I felt very luxurious. "They're going to make a very interesting work" – I thought, and the work has an appeal that makes people want to participate in it, so I think it's going to be seen by a lot of people.

Q: I just talked about the topic of Xiao Zhu's growth, so since the first season, have you changed anything when you played this role?

Hanazawa: In the first season, I was the youngest one in the dubbing scene, which coincided with Xiao Zhu, who had just entered the Public Security Bureau and couldn't tell the difference between the southeast and the north. Although I'm not a newcomer like Xiao Zhu, I have been helped by the people around me, and from this point of view, I can easily create a character.

However, after the second season, because the cunning = Mr. Guan is gone, both Xiao Zhu in the work and me in the dubbing scene are a little trembling. In the first season, Mr. Kwan had a lot of very heavy plots, but before the dubbing began, he would tell jokes to lighten the mood (laughs).

Even so, Xiao Zhu can't support the setting of the Public Security Bureau on her own, and it also coincides with me, not so much about change, I feel like I've always been connected to her. It's just that in the process of dubbing the second season, the voice acting of the theatrical version was inserted.

Q: Was this happening at the same time?

Hanazawa: That's right. Dubbing for the second season and dubbing for the theatrical version at the same time, that's the state. And the voice actor didn't know what the plot of the second season was going to be at the time, so he went to dub the theatrical version.

Q: It's hard to dub without knowing it, right?

Hanazawa: It's hard. If we know the whole plot at once, then the performance in the second season will become difficult, so we can't ask how the plot is going, I just listened to what the ending of Xiao Zhu will be at the end of the second season.

Q: I see, so let's change the topic a little bit: Zhu is a very popular character among women, so when Miss Hanazawa played Zhu, how did the people around you react?

Hanazawa: "I've become a fan of Miss Hanazawa since I was a fan of Miss Hanazawa," and so on, and some girls write me this kind of letter, so I'm very happy about it. Also, about 9% of the audience who came to the "Psychometrician" event were women.

Q: I'm sorry. Sure enough, it's because the character is very popular.

Hanazawa: There are a lot of people who are attracted to the plot, but there are also a lot of people who like the characters. Among them, I heard that many people support Xiao Zhu, and I am very happy about it.

I myself like the role of Xiao Zhu very much. Although she acts with conviction, she also listens carefully to the opinions of those around her, and makes contact with others after fully understanding their opinions. But in the end, the theatrical version still worries me a little: is she thinking too much about this society? Where is she going? (laughs)

Q: I also like Zhu a lot, I wonder if Miss Hanazawa has anything in common with her?

Hanazawa: Let's get a hairstyle (laughs). In the first season, I thought Xiao Zhu's hairstyle was very handsome, so I modeled her short cut.

Q: Is this because of the impact of starring in Zhu?

Hanazawa: yes. was triggered. And the muscles are too (laughs).

Q: Muscle? (laughs)

Hanazawa: Yes. Xiao Zhu has worked very hard to build his muscles since the beginning of the second season, and his movements have become agile, right? I also exercise once a week now, maybe in the same way as she does.

■Will Miss Hanazawa appear in the world of "Psychometrician"? What is the content of the cooperation activity?

Q: At present, Ms. Hanazawa has some crossover activities with the work, and this time it is on the game app of the work. So has Miss Hanazawa ever played the app herself?

Hanazawa: I tried it out, but it wasn't good enough. The APP is based on the first season as the timeline, but if you watch the theatrical version, you will find that there will be a lot of easter eggs hidden inside. So I think everybody is happy, right? I just played around a little bit and called out "oh oh". From the prologue, the main members have appeared.

Q: I'm really happy about that.

Hanazawa: It's a game, after all. Players can become rookie prosecutors and take action. And the members of the Public Security Bureau in the first season will also help themselves, right? That's fun enough.

Q: Please tell us about the events that will be released in the game.

Hanazawa: This time I'm on a tour, so we'll be holding an event for a certain period of time. And I myself appeared in the world of "Psychometrician" as the character Guò Kana Hanazawa, so I don't even know what year I was born (laughs) (Note: The timeline of this work is Japan in 2112).

The event itself was a bomb threat on my tour, and the people from the Public Security Bureau were investigating to stop the crime. This is a plot that is absolutely impossible to appear in the anime, so everyone will find it interesting.

Q: It seems that both anime fans and Ms. Hanazawa fans will be happy. Speaking of which, does Miss Hanazawa play games on her smartphone?

Hanazawa: Actually, I don't play at all. Because I can't use a smartphone well (laughs).

Q: So, what if you could start playing smartphone games from this app......

Hanazawa: I tried it just now, and I found that even if I don't usually play games, I can use it, which is pretty good.

■First solo Budokan performance, third album released...... An increasingly active music scene

Q: I'd like to ask you about Ms. Hanazawa's activities as a singer. On May 3rd, you will have your first solo Nippon Budokan performance.

Hanazawa: I had an original concert in March, and it was the last concert for the Budokan theater, and it ended in a very nice way. I sang the song from "BlueAvenue", which was released on April 22, and interacted with the audience. I was hoping that concert would help the Budokan concert, and it turned out to be great.

Q: You mentioned the topic of building muscles, is this also for the sake of the budokan?

Hanazawa: yes (laughs). However, I think the muscles should have been exercised earlier. After all, it will help me in many of my activities.

Q: Specifically, what makes you feel this way?

Hanazawa: It can improve my body and allow me to have long-lasting stamina. Also, you can release stress when exercising. The process of my voice acting is also a cathartic method, so I don't need to vent in particular, but if I exercise, I think I can feel better from the whole (laughs).

Q: I see. In addition, you released your third album "BlueAvenue" on April 22nd, and there are many types of music that challenge you. So what are the highlights worth listening to?

Hanazawa: As you said, there are a lot of songs on this album, and I think there are some people in the audience who have never been exposed to some of these types of songs. Therefore, I hope that you will be able to enjoy it.

In particular, the album includes the song "DreamADream", and I deliberately sang it in a handsome way, so I hope you can listen to it.

Q: As a singer, Ms. Hanazawa has sung many types of songs. Have your preferences changed as well?

Hanazawa: I still like the things I like, but I think my hobbies have become more broad. This album is about New York, so I've included Billy Joel-style songs as well. When I listened to it again, I was very obsessed with this style and listened to it for a long time. As for the Swing OutSister, who provided me with the music, I listened carefully to their work.

Q: On the other hand, what type of music would you like to challenge in the future?

Hanazawa: I've already challenged a lot this time, and it's the first time I've challenged a REGGAE song. If you don't sing seriously, then it's hard to match your voice with the tune, and it's very hard. I've also spent a lot of time on this, so I hope to try it further in the future.

Q: Thank you for your time today!
