[Interview with Akihiro Ishihara, comprehensive director of Bandai Nangong Dream Game]

■Since you want to do it, you have to surpass the 765Pro

Akihiro Ishihara: As a general director, he has produced all the "Idol Master" series, including "Cinderella Girl", and is the on-site director of the game.

- What is the starting point for "Cinderella Girl"?

Ishihara: It was probably in the spring of 2011 that the field of social games began to develop. It started with the idea of making Idol Master a social game. At the beginning, everyone discussed how to make the 13 idols of 765Pro into a game. If you want to make a game that collects cards, you have to have a lot of variations in the characters. In that case, let's just make a work that can only be played in social games, and there are many new idols that have never appeared before. However, since we want to do it, we don't want idols other than 765Pro to become dragon characters. During the planning stage, one of the things we often said was "to make a game that surpasses the 765 Pro". It's a rare opportunity.,If it's just an accessory of 765Pro, it doesn't make sense.,We muster up our strength to make a work that surpasses its predecessor in charm and popularity.。

INTERVIEWER Do you have any guidelines for characters and illustrations?

Ishihara: At that time, it was common for different illustrators to draw different cards, and the design and style of the illustrations varied. This situation is very strict. I felt that this would not be conducive to a unified world view, so I decided to make "Cinderella Girl" centered on Almond Tofu (illustrator) and keep the overall design and art style unified. It's no surprise to everyone now, but it was a step ahead of the times in the social games of the time. Almond Tofu is very good at drawing single color pictures and is an illustrator who is very attentive to the design of small objects, so in social games that require a lot of information, she is the right person to be the near-perfect main designer. )

- Did you entrust Cygames with the development because they are familiar with social games?

Ishihara: Our company is not well equipped to develop social games. Personally, though, I think the biggest problem should be the operational aspect. A team that is available to players 24 hours a day is fundamentally different from a team that develops a family game. Judging from the results, it was the right decision to hand over the responsibility to Cygames.

- Has anything changed since the game went live?

Ishihara: When it first launched, the main user groups of social games were Mobage and GREE, which mainly communicate with mobile platforms. Home console fans, as well as users who like anime otaku are basically not included in the player base. So, when I put the game on the market, the first thing that surprised me was the players. I often see people screaming on Twitter: "I didn't look at the screen for 5 minutes, and the props were stolen by someone else!" "After seeing these tweets, I was convinced that the game had transcended the limitations of the platform and was known to more users. It was only then that I finally believed that this game could be a hit. In terms of actual performance, it quickly reached nearly 10 times the expected results, causing a stir in the company (laughs).

- There are a lot of people on the Internet who like games where you can find a common language.

Ishihara: You're right. "Cinderella Girl" is part of the "Idol Master" series, so we are not limited to platforms in terms of CM and multimedia development, but actively expand. Because of this, previous fans were very supportive of the game from the beginning, which is why the initial operation of the game was so good.

- The first single disc of the CD was released at the same time, and all of them entered the top 10 of the Oricon chart, which is too powerful.

Ishihara: At first, we were hesitant to add a voice. There are a lot of characters in the game, and I don't know what will happen in the end. Furthermore, this is no longer the time when you can rely solely on sound to attract players like feature phones. However, since they are idols, having "songs" and "voices" makes it easier to develop related products. Just two weeks after we decided to add voices, we had an audition. Social games change quickly, so whatever you do is fast.

INTERVIEWER Is the method of selecting voice actors the same as in a family game?

Ishihara: More attention is paid to whether the voice actor can express the characteristics of the character in the lines of limited length. For example, when selecting the voice actor of Apricot, consider why Apricot is popular, whether it is because it is cute or lazy. As a result, laziness must have prevailed, so during the audition, we asked the voice actors to "talk like Maruko Cherry" (laughs).

INTERVIEWER The game celebrates its 3rd anniversary, have any changes been made?

Ishihara: In the beginning, there were many people who were resistant to social games as a platform. But now, it's not uncommon for social games like Bahamut's Wrath and Temporary Girlfriend to be adapted into animation, which proves that the surrounding environment has changed somewhat.

INTERVIEWER Among the current spin-offs, live concerts occupy an important position.

Ishihara: The "Idol Master" series has been working for 9 years, and there needs to be a place for fans to know that there are other fans who like this work, so an event needs to be held. However, in "Cinderella Girl", the songs are preserved to show the characteristics of the characters, so there are many character songs. In the 765Pro, you won't talk to the people who make it. So, the concert of "Cinderella Girl" is for everyone to enjoy the world of music...... In other words, let everyone feel the realism of the characters. That's what concerts are for.

INTERVIEWER In the anime version, the role of the song should be different, right?

Ishihara: Anime has a plot. To write songs that are useful for the storyline, it's a little bit different from what we did before.

INTERVIEWER What is the significance of our first concert in Maihama in April this year and our second concert at the end of November?

Ishihara: The theme of the first session was "We are Cinderella girls", but about half of the participants in the second session were first-time participants, so the theme was still "We are Cinderella girls". This is the case because the members have not yet been fixed. After the anime airs, there may be a little bit of change.

INTERVIEWER At the second concert, you called on everyone to protect the growth of the 15 characters in the animated version of "Cinderella Girl", what is your focus and goal when choosing people?

Ishihara: We have taken great pains to evenly distribute the age groups of the members. "Cinderella Girl" originally featured everything from elementary school students to adults, so we wanted the voice actors selected to condense the world view of the game version of "Cinderella Girl". Among them, the new generation group (Utsuki, Rin, and Weiyang) can be regarded as the basis of this worldview in a sense. I hope that I can tell their stories from scratch, and the animated version is the basic situation of their growth process.

- How is it different from the animated version of the 765Pro?

Ishihara: I didn't want to make the same thing, but I didn't want to stress the differences too much, so I didn't think too much about the differences. It's worth mentioning the difference, which is probably what I often say at the scene: "The characters of "Cinderella Girl" should emphasize private life. In particular, Rin's appearance in uniform is very impressive. The first thing that appeared in 765 was the costume of an idol. The idols who are not students, some of them were former policewomen, some of them were former announcers, and we set their pasts. If anything, this is a difference. In addition, unlike the idols who are signed artists of 765Pro at the beginning of the game, "Cinderella Girl" is a game that slowly brings idols together, which is simply "the story of becoming an idol".

INTERVIEWER It's about to be broadcast, what's going on now?

Ishihara: Ishihara is so busy (laughs). Recordings and scripts are often produced while discussing on the spot. You have to check it very carefully.

INTERVIEWER And the number of people who participated in the recording was very large.

Ishihara: That's a lot of people. And it's a work with a high intelligence density. You can feel that the producers and voice actors have a strong desire to make a good work, and everyone wants to stick to this line all the time. The enthusiasm of everyone can be felt everywhere at the scene.

- Theme song "Star!! What is the theme of the book?

Ishihara: I wrote "Myself Mailto: REST@RT

REST@RT (Former name: self-divided mailto: REST@RT.)

REST@RT)" of MONACA's Hidekazu Tanaka, whose lyrics are Yuriko Mori of "Forward ☆ Girl (ススメ☆オトメ)". 765 usually asks Yura to write the songs, but we wanted to change the style of the worldview in the lyrics of "Cinderella Girl", so we asked Mori to write them. Moriya is passionate about "Cinderella Girl", and the enthusiasm for this work is really high (laughs). 《Star!! is a very royal song. The most important thing is to highlight the feeling of an idol. Everyone is happily moving forward as idols, and the Cinderella girls will one day become what they dream of.

- The theme of this game is "Magic", so what kind of magic will be applied to the Cinderella girls in the animated version?

Ishihara: I've never seen the broadcast of the anime as the ultimate goal. So, what the characters led by Utsuki are looking forward to, what they want to get, and how they usually speak, I am very eager to let everyone understand in a concise and clear way. I have that affection for each character, just like their father.

- Finally, please tell us about the policy plan of "Idol Master", which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and what is the mission of "Cinderella Girl".

Ishihara: Next year's Cinderella Girl will be closer to the core lineup throughout the Idol Master series. However, I hope that "765 Pro", "Cinderella Girl" and "Million Concert" can all move forward together. The 10th anniversary is an epoch-making event for the 765Pro, but for Cinderella Girls, next year is just the beginning. In order for everyone to see the future development of the "Idol Master" series, we will spare no effort to continue to create it with all our might.

[Interview with Rin Shibuya, Utsuki Shimamura, Mika Kinosaki, voice actress Ayaka Fukuhara, Ayaka Ohashi, Haruka Yoshimura]

■What does the upcoming TV anime mean to voice actors?

– First of all, a brief review of the year.

Yoshimura: "mailto:THEIDOLM@STERM@STERSOFIDOLWORLD held at Saitama SuperArena (SSA) in February

THEIDOLM@STERM@STERSOFIDOLWORLD!! 2014 "I was very impressed. In the past, I only had a faint intersection with everyone at the "765Pro" and "Million People Concert", but when everyone stood on the same stage and performed like this, I had a clear desire to "want to be like this" in my heart.

Ohashi: It's been a really busy year. After April, I held my second solo concert at the end of November, and I felt once again that I had sung so many songs.

Fukuhara: Rin in the theatrical version of the anime "Mailto: THEIDOLM@STERMOVIE

THEIDOLM@STERMOVIE To the Other Side of the Glory" had a big impact on me. Because I appeared in Rin, I participated in the SSA performance and my solo concert "mailto:THEIDOLM@STERCINDERELLAGIRLS1stLIVEWONDERFULM@GIC in April

THEIDOLM@STERCINDERELLAGIRLS1stLIVEWONDERFULM@GIC!! ”。 In the second half of the year, the recording of the anime started again, and it feels like I've been moving forward all year long.

- By the way, the shot of Rin in the theatrical version is a storyboard drawn by the TV animation version of Takao Toshiko.

Everyone: Huh, really?! It's amazing!

- What was it like when you recorded "Cinderella Girl"?

Kamura: Well...... Through guò recording, everyone seems to have become a "big family".

Fukuhara: Marie (Abe Nana Nae, Marie Miyake)'s home became a place for us to rest. Once, I took the pasta-making machine to play, and it happened that Iiya (Honda Miyo and Sayuri Hara) was also there, so both of them urged me to "hurry up and make it~", and completely pushed me to do it alone (wry smile).

Yoshimura: Ah, I arrived halfway through, and after eating the pasta, I went to work right away (laughs).

Ohashi: It's so free (laughs). I've only been there once and will go again!

- Next is the question of the "Cinderella Radio Program". In the "Magic Project" session, the producers (listeners) will be very enthusiastic about the idols they are responsible for, so do you have any suggestions for the roles you play?

Ohashi: The selling point of Utsuki is "smile"! As soon as they see her smile, everyone else will smile in response.

Fukuhara: Rin is a contradiction. It looks like a lone wolf, but it has a lot of friends. It looks cold on the surface, but there is enthusiasm hidden in it. That's Rin's charm.

Kamura: There is a phrase in Kinosaki's song that is also written, and that is "shiny". She is a very hard worker, but she doesn't want to be seen. The essence is a very serious girl.

- In the "Magic Course", there are many challenges that you try to improve your idol's skills, but are there any that impress you in particular or that you would like to try in the future?

Yoshimura: (Chihiro Chikawa) When Rina Sato appeared as a guest, there was a part of the performance with different feelings of "cute", "cold", and "passionate", and she performed it well. "It's Chihiro!"

Ohashi: There was a time when three people answered the same question at the same time, and they had to answer exactly the same answer to get through, and the funny thing was that they couldn't agree on the answer all the time (laughs). It turns out that we have a distinct personality like idols, and I was deeply touched at the time.

Fukuhara: When Iiya was a guest, there was a project where you had to reach 00% to qualify. Although this link was difficult, she cleared the customs very smoothly, which made me feel that she was "worthy of being a savior" (laughs)!

Ohashi: By the way, what plans you want to make in the future...... We hope to be commended for our courses. The previous project was really hard to qualify, ......right? Not only do we have to use whips, but we also have to eat some candy once in a while!

Yoshimura Fukuhara: Please, everyone (laughs)!

INTERVIEWER In addition, the TV anime version will start airing in January 2015. I've already recorded it, right? How does it feel? Ohashi: Actually, when I read the script, I often read the finale first. After knowing that this is going to be the case, I calmly started from the beginning. When I read the manga, I also read the trailer first, and after I know that "Ah, the ending of this character turns out to be like this", I will pay special attention to it in the process of reading.

Kamura: Ah, I see!

Fukuhara: There are people who like that.

Yoshimura: I'm just happy. The role I played was moving, and I was looking forward to communicating with idols who didn't have much contact with before, and I didn't know how the story would develop in the future, so I was excited to welcome the recording as a fan.

Fukuhara: I felt very happy when I recorded the anime, but at the same time I was very hardworking. The other staff at the recording site also created an atmosphere as if they were communicating with real idols. Thank you to everyone involved in the animation zuò.

- I heard that the recording time is very long.

Ohashi: When it's too late, you get sleepy. It's hard to concentrate and it's very hard (wry smile).

Yoshimura: It's not because of acting problems that it will take so long. Each voice actor is experienced and can grasp the characteristics of the character, but there is still something that refuses to compromise, which is why it was recorded so late. Seeing the version after the broadcast and feeling regret is the most undesirable, so in this sense, you should be glad that it was recorded so late.

INTERVIEWER I've heard that some characters have added a lot of improvisation.

Fukuhara: (played by Rei Matsusaka) Kirari has a very distinct personality, and Rei adds an improvisation after understanding her personality. Rin doesn't use honorifics except when she meets a character who thinks "this is my sister", and there are some places in the script where honorifics are used for dialogue, so I think "I shouldn't actually use honorifics", and I will revise the lines after discussing with the staff.

Yoshimura: Maybe it's not improvisational, but sometimes changing the lines makes Utsuki more cute! For example, when humming a song, Ohashi can express the feelings of the characters very well, making the cuteness of Mao Yue more prominent.

Ohashi: Wow, thank you! I usually stick to the script and act, but sometimes I think that "Utsuki can't say such complicated lines", so I bring it up when I encounter such a situation.

INTERVIEWER How did you feel when you saw the cover of Cinderella Girl Magazine?

Ohashi: The idols who often appear together in the works are even on the cover. Everyone can see at a glance that "it turns out that the relationship between the two of them is very good", which is very interesting.

Fukuhara: Yes, it's incredibly close to each other that there will be such a conversation between them.

Kamura: Yes, there are some groups that I approve of, but some of them are very surprising. However, after reading the cover, there is a sense of excitement that "these two people seem to be good together". Personally, I want to stand next to Rika (Kinosaki, which Yamamoto wants to star) and want to be a pillar of her heart.

INTERVIEWER How do you feel about re-reading these Cinderella Girl Magazines?

Ohashi: My group of children...... I don't know if I can call them that (laughs), everyone is so cute! I have a hunch that it will be very lively and high-spirited in the anime.

Kamura: Everyone is so shiny!

Fukuhara: The idols have very distinct personalities, but none of them are particularly eye-catching, and everyone's strength is very even, which is amazing.

- Next year, the "Idol Master" series will celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Fukuhara: Speaking of which...... the achievements accumulated by the "765Pro" are the medals of the "765Pro".

Ohashi: Well, so we're going to move forward with all of you at the 765Pro.

Yoshimura: When the 10th anniversary was celebrated, the anime was broadcast, and I did my best to bring a masterpiece.

Ohashi: I hope this anime will let more people know about Cinderella Girl.

Kamura: I hope that the current makers can tell the news to more people.

Fukuhara: Okay, let's work towards the 10th anniversary!

Ohashi Jiacun: Good!

INTERVIEWER Finally, what kind of magic would you like to use on the "Cinderella Girl" in the anime?

Ohashi: Use "Happiness Magic". Do what you want to do and be happy.

Fukuhara: When I was my age as a "Cinderella girl", I wonder if I cried as hard as they could, laughed uncontrollably, and observed and experienced things with all kinds of feelings. I hope that they can understand the truth that "only when you suffer hardship can you become a superior person".

Yoshimura: The reason why I became an idol is because everyone wants to be on stage, so I wanted to use the magic of "making the stage shine brighter". Hopefully, they'll be able to stand on stage in the final episode. Although there are also sad places, but because of these, he can be regarded as a real "idol master", right?

[Interview with A-1Pictures producers Akira Shimizu and Yuichi Fukushima]

■Make a work that makes them more "ordinary people's realism".

Akira Shimizu: Producer at A-1Pictures. His main works include "Mailto: THEIDOLM@STERMOVIE

THEIDOLM@STERMOVIE To the Other Side of the Glory", "April is Your Lies", etc.

Yuichi Fukushima: Producer, A-1 Pictures. His main works include "Mailto: THEIDOLM@STERMOVIE

THEIDOLM@STERMOVIE To the Other Side of the Glory" (co-ordination of the production of zuò), "The Magic Flute", etc.

- The animation is about to air, how is the production now?

Fukushima: There is a lot of pressure on the script, but the rest of the story is relatively smooth overall.

Shimizu: Thanks to Aniplex producer Toba (Yonori) and Ishihara (Akihiro) who is the supervisor, preparations were made at a very early stage. So, you can start working with good preparation. As for the script, because the original work is a social game, there are some places where it will be very difficult to do. Toba and Ishihara had always wanted to make "Cinderella Girl" a "story-telling anime", and then decided that "it would be better to ask Takao (Toriko) to be the supervisor", so this project was born.

INTERVIEWER When I first started working on this project, I had the intention of making an "anime that focuses on storytelling."

Shimizu: Regarding the work "Cinderella Girl", in fact, there is another way to simply highlight the cute side of girls...... However, "this is not the case". In fact, when Kaohsiung was entrusted as the supervisor, she should have been very hesitant.

Fukushima: I didn't agree right away.

Shimizu: Because Kaohsiung performed in the previous series of "Idol Master", maybe this work has made it more difficult. However, "Cinderella Girl" is a "work with a plot and the emotions of the characters as the main axis". This may have prompted her to accept it. If Kaohsiung had said "no", he might not have done it, and A-1Pictures might not have accepted the job.

INTERVIEWER What kind of supervisor and performer is Kaohsiung in your eyes?

Shimizu: I'm a performer who attaches more importance to the plot, or the emotions of the characters on the stage. She doesn't agree with the idea that "this character is this type of character", but sublimates to "it should be such a person" and creates the plot from it. Of course, in the process, I also absorbed the opinions of various drama writers such as Ishihara, Toba, and Takahashi Ryuya, and wrote about what kind of life the girls spent during this time in the play.

- I see.

Shimizu: The same is true of "The Legend of Saint Go" (supervised by Kaohsiung), which deliberately designed four seasons to make this the main axis of the story. In fact, the original work of "The Legend of Saint Go" is a work that is difficult to find the main axis, and Kaohsiung really deserves to attach importance to the supervision of the main axis. Fukushima: That's why Takahsiung's work has a lot of elements. Not only do you value the character, but you also want to change the character's outfit, hairstyle, and so on. For example, she will set up that the child should hang this kind of charm on the phone, or buy something. She pays great attention to these small details when creating her character. That's why the workload becomes so large (laughs).

Shimizu: In other words, "very greedy" (laughs). Of course, the graphics of the anime are also important, which is something that fans value very much. On the basis of ensuring the quality of the picture, we will enhance the story, and we will also enhance the details that can highlight the plot. The superintendent should be "greedy", and the Kaohsiung superintendent can be described as "super greedy", but this is her charm.

INTERVIEWER I watched the second round of PV that was released not long ago, and I realized that there were a lot of such small details.

Fukushima: Basically, I want you to see what the main characters in "Cinderella Girl" look like, and I want to introduce them...... Still, it feels pretty fresh. I've been working on Idol Master for a long time, but this time it's a new character, so I can expect to make a new twist from the previous one. Not only the overall image impression, but also the atmosphere of the storyboard and background can make people feel that "this is a work by Kaohsiung".

INTERVIEWER There is also a "Cinderella Project" in the PV, how are the members selected?

Fukushima: First of all, we will focus on the three people of the new era (Utsuki, Rin, and Miyo), and then we will consider joining others. The overseer and Toba discussed this many times, but Ishihara kept emphasizing, "This kid is actually such a character!" (laughs)

Shimizu: To put it simply, it is decided according to the needs of the plot and the overall balance. However, Kaohsiung wants to get everyone on the field. Because every girl has her own fans, it will still be sad to see that "the characters you support do not appear". The director wants to respond to the expectations of every fan.

Fukushima: However, from an objective point of view, in order to highlight the plot, it is necessary to limit the number of people. When the plot can only develop horizontally, only one new character can appear in each episode, bringing a new story...... But that's not a good idea.

- And the stage of this work is still a company as big as 346Production.

Fukushima: The idea is to focus on just one project in a large company.

Shimizu: In this scope, I want to depict the growth process of three people in the new era. As the project progressed, the three of them gradually grew, and the final result, the finale, hoping to see them become like this, Takao and Ishihara also had in-depth discussions in these aspects, and finally decided on the backbone and stage of the work. These places have not deviated from their original intentions at all.

- I see. The meaning of the stage is to show their growth.

Shimizu: I would like to add that if such a large company were to be used as a stage, it would be easier for other characters other than "Cinderella Project" to appear in the work. That's one of the reasons.

- Speaking of the background, there are even real place names in "Cinderella Girl", and the stage setting is very realistic.

Fukushima: It's because Kaohsiung herself wants to make a down-to-earth and realistic work, so she also went to real places to take materials. Although the real name will not appear directly in the play, there will be a general clue like "this building is probably ...... around here", and you will draw it while considering these issues when drawing the storyboard. In addition, the background is drawn in great detail. The same is true of the place where Kaohsiung performed in "Theatrical Idol Master" (from ** to the finale), and you can feel that she was drawn after a field trip...... This time it's more detailed than in the previous "Idol Master".

INTERVIEWER Speaking of "Idol Master", the song is a major element that cannot be ignored, how does the producer deal with this?

Shimizu: As I've said many times, Kaohsiung is a supervisor who attaches great importance to the plot, so the request was "music that fits the plot". After the recording, everyone will have a meeting to discuss the songs used in the play. "Finished a song like this, do you need it?" "What about the lyrics of this song?" Each time it will be discussed for more than an hour.

Fukushima: Which of the songs that I had already written in "Idol Master" could be used? There are many such cases. However, there are still a lot of new songs this time, and the workload in this area is more than the previous work. However, the staff led by Kashiwaya (Tomohiro) of "Nippon Columbia" are not afraid of hardships and always have an attitude of "let's do it together", and they are very motivated.

Shimizu: Everyone's enthusiasm is very high. It seems that we have the lowest level of enthusiasm among this group (laughs).

INTERVIEWER You are responsible for many other works besides Cinderella Girl, what do you think is unique about Cinderella Girl?

Shimizu: Each of these works is my son and daughter, and I don't have a special favor for "Cinderella Girl...... But among all the sons and daughters, this is the one that bothers me very much. Because of the previous work "Idol Master", I felt that I was involved in a very large project. The "Idol Master" series has been around for almost 10 years, and not everyone has the opportunity to participate in such a huge project, which is one of the most important works for A-1Pictures.

INTERVIEWER Finally, what kind of magic do you want to use on the Cinderella Girl?

Shimizu: Instead of using magic on them, we should use magic on us, so that we suddenly realized that there are only 3 episodes left to finish! If only that's the case...... (laughs)

Fukushima: From the perspective of the maker, I hope that I can pay attention to each of them and draw each of them cutely. I hope I can keep the standard and make it to the end. If you can do that, you can use magic on them.
