- "Kuiba II: The Great War Yuan Yang Realm" after watching it

This time, Kuiba chose to release it on Children's Day, and compared with the premiere of the first part last time, Jimmy's own feeling is that the publicity method has changed, and the box office has also increased a lot this time. It's a pity that I haven't read it myself, but fortunately, our reader Kiku sent a review of it, and we can also see through guò his article, what is the progress of the second part of this domestic anime, and what is the content? Recently, in the circle, the discussion of a domestic animation work that has not made a trip has also reflected some of the difficulties of domestic animation in the market. Comparatively speaking, "Kuiba" is already a very lucky work.

June 3 happens to be Monday, and "Kuiba II.: The Great War Yuan Yang Realm" (hereinafter referred to as Kui 2) has been in theaters for exactly three days. In order to avoid the murderous elementary school students who coincided with the Saturday holiday of 6.1, my generation decided to go to catch the first game with my friends early on the morning of the 3rd. Even though many media have been positively promoting Kuiba, the number of films in theaters is still very low, taking Wanda Cinema, which is quite large in Wuhan, as an example, Kui 2 still schedules 5 films a day after the box office results come out in the first week. In some smaller theaters, they are not shown at all, and domestic animation is still in an embarrassing situation of not being treated by theaters and ordinary audiences.

After watching it, I and my friends have a common feeling that Kui 2 is really worth watching, and in many ways the table is very prominent, which is enough to throw out most of the domestic animation several streets; However, corresponding to the outstanding advantages, Kui 2 also has some obvious disadvantages.

To say that compared with the previous work, the biggest change in this work is the change in the action scenes. This time, the protagonist and his party are no longer facing a group of robbers and miscellaneous soldiers in the mountain village, nor are they the same kind that can be fooled by small fights, but a strong enemy in the real sense, serving two of the twelve demons of the fourth generation of Kuiba. This work not only optimizes the special effects and allows more moves to appear, but also introduces a large number of hand-to-hand white-knuckle combat (because according to the difference in strength between the protagonist and the opponent, spell attacks basically have no effect, so you can only rely on primitive combat to find a chance of winning). The movement is very smooth, and the crispness is no less than that of some 11-zone animations. In addition, everyone knows that it takes a lot of investment to do action scenes, and to do it smoothly and refreshingly, not only the investment of capital, but also the technical problems. It can be said that Tong guò is a slightly simpler battle than the action of Kui 1, and the excellent performance of Kui 2 gives us a new understanding of the level of domestic 2D animation production.

There is also a very interesting anti-world maze, which looks very much like the maze decryption in an RPG game in the movie, as a scene that embodies the psychological mind and high intelligence of the Celestial Mirror. At the same time, it is also a rare highlight in domestic animation. (This screen doesn't look like a screenshot of a game...) )

Speaking of graphics, I have to mention the 2D and 3D problems of Kui 2. This time, many Internet water armies have sprayed out, including Kui 2, which is the problem of 2D animation to 3D, saying that 3D is to make a gimmick and attract children. It is an indisputable fact that the 3D fever in the domestic film market is a fact, there are many parents who take their little friends to watch 3D just to have fun, and some people think that watching 3D represents high-end foreign style and so on. So in order to adapt to the market environment, it is understandable for Kui 2 to make the choice of 2D to 3D, after all, people are doing the second part with the dismal box office of the first part.

But when it comes to 3D,Kui 2There are many places in the picture that introduce stereoscopic CG models (according to director Wang Chuan, it's 2D stereoscopic technology,I don't know if it's the same thing),Most of the passers-by and soldiers are fully modeled,Some of the protagonist's action scenes have also been replaced with models.,It looks a little uncomfortable (compared to this,It's still the head-to-body ratio of the heroine's mirror heart Lori that collapses throughout the whole process is more uncomfortable)。

In addition to the progress of the picture, the plot concept is also quite a lot of highlights. In the first half, on the question of who to send to assist the gods in destroying the Kuiba Vein Beast, the protagonist's lines express the director's thoughts on the practical question of "whether to complete the mission for fame, fortune, vanity or noble beliefs". The change in thinking experienced by Yu Mi Maniac, who was once a member of the Realm Alliance, because his subordinates did not recognize the merits they had exchanged their lives for in the battle against Kuibal, turned to the side of Kuiba, and we can see it as a trade-off of loyalty, and it can also be seen as a reflection on "what it means to be loyal".

The biggest climax of this work is the inner change of the heroine's heart.,At first, she didn't understand her mother's behavior.,Despised the earth world with an absolutely rational god posture for life.,But after experiencing several difficulties with the protagonist and a group of people such as Manji,Moved by the tenacity of Manji's "all the way forward",Gradually understand why the mother was unwilling to sacrifice many earthly soldiers at the expense,Use absolute insurance and effective light weapons,But willing to fight side by side with them,Until the glorious death。 Although the creatures of the earth are humble and fragile, they have a strong will to never give up and the courage to challenge the strong, so that life should be guarded with love. When Jingxin gave up using the light weapon, picked up the long sword and rushed towards the vein beast with Manji, her back overlapped with her mother, and we saw the great figure of a god who knew how to love bravely sacrificed herself for the people she loved.

While seeing the many advantages of Kui 2, I feel that I can't fail to mention its disadvantages.

The Kuiba franchise has a vast worldview, divided into two worlds, divided by race, with many characters and a long history, and it is impossible to explain them all in a few time-limited films. Although there has been an official setting book, how many people in the average movie audience will buy a book to study the setting for a movie? Actually, I think this setting is more suitable for TV animation. The audience's ignorance of the worldview makes it difficult for them to fully integrate into the film. The two twelve demons who appeared in this work and Qi Hengsan showed their faces once in the previous work, but I believe that many viewers have long forgotten about jì. The story about them can only be understood through some lines and reminiscences of Guò during the battle. But the director's handling here is obviously not perfect, and the recollection clips are too fragmentary, and in the end, the portrayal of the characters is not in place and the lunch box is hurriedly received. And that part of the history that is not mentioned in the main part, the audience has to verify it for themselves.

Fang Qingqingshu pinned the entire Kuiba animation culture on five animated films, and this stall is undoubtedly a bit big. For the audience, it is a question of acceptance, and for the production party, it will be a question of whether there is financial support.

In addition to the cultivation of the foundation of animation culture, there are also some problems with the rhythm of the whole movie. If Kui 1 is a novice village teaching that appeared to board the ship, then Kui 2 is the landing on the island + the first boss battle to guard the level, and it looks like it just landed on an island (the "Yuan Yang Realm" in the movie title "The Great Battle of Yuan Yang Realm" actually refers to this ferry, not the "Yuan Yang Realm" of the entire Kuiba world). The pace of such a story is indeed a bit slow, because there are as many as five films planned for the entire movie series, and the old pits in the movie are not filled in and the new pits are dug up, which makes people look very anxious.

On the one hand, the progress is slow, and on the other hand, the character portrayal is inadequate. Karashok, the popular king in Qui 1? Pan did not appear in the sequel, but Sharon, the friend of the big man, played a big role in Kui 2, turning from a grass coward to a righteous partner. This astonishing transformation makes one wonder if there are rotten girls mixed in with the zuò group...... The rich and diverse supporting characters are a major feature of the Kuiba world, but it is also a major drawback. It is not easy to describe every supporting role clearly, and due to space limitations, it is often superficial. How to find a balance between breadth and depth should be what I think should be paid attention to in the next "Kuiba".

There is also a problem that has not appeared before in Kui 2.,That's the collapse of painting.,This happens to be there and only reflected in the cute heroine.,As soon as I appeared, I felt that this Lori's head was one size bigger.,And then the whole head and body are extremely uncoordinated.。 I don't know if any of you who have read it feel the same way as me.

On the whole, although "Kuiba" still has such and such shortcomings, as an audience, we do see its progress compared to other domestic animated films, and its production team is indeed working hard to tell a good story, transmit positive energy to the society, and fight for the dream of revival of domestic animation.

Finally, a little mention of the box office situation of Kui 2, the box office of "Kuiba II.: The Great War Yuan Yang Realm" in the first week (5.31-6.2 three days) was 18.5 million, which was more than ten times higher than the first part. Such an animated film, which is considered a phased success, has also attracted a lot of media attention, and many celebrities have also praised this animated film. The success of an animation brand should not only mean success at the box office, but also success in commercialization, which is the driving force to support the brand, so that it can be called the road to the revival of domestic animation.

I wish domestic animation can go out of a world of its own.
