Chapter 32: The Secret Under the Flash
In the vast manor, warm sunlight filled the bedroom through the window, Augustus sat at the desk in the bedroom reading the daily morning newspaper sent by the house-elf, Cornelius Fudge had some plump cheeks through the newspaper with an official smile, Morton Hughes, as the head of the Muggle Department, was revealing to the onlookers the progress of his recent activities in response to several Muggle attacks, and Krisson was responsible for the management of Muggle buildings. Responsibility for the recent Muggle Bridge collapse has been unshirkable. Compared to the Ministry of Magic, which is in full swing every day, Augustus is obviously much more leisurely, and most of this long summer vacation is to read books and newspapers, sort out the loopholes in the magic tree's system, and then do some experiments on the various magical foundations of this world. Seeing that the day of the start of school was gradually approaching, Augustus had to put away many trivial things in his hands and prepare for the arrival of the second school year.
"Augustus, are you there?" Outside the door, Aurora's voice came from outside the room.
"What's wrong, what's the matter?" Augustus walked to the door and pulled it open.
"Honey, there's a letter from the school." Augustus took a yellow parchment envelope with green lettering. The envelope was opened, and it told him to catch the Hogwarts Express from King's Cross Station on September 1. The letter also lists the new books he will be using this year.
Second-graders should read: "Standard Mantra, Level 2",
Gilderoy Lockhart, "Breaking with the Female Ghost",
Gilderoy Lockhart, "Travelling with Ghouls",
Gilderoy Lockhart, "Vacation with the Dominatrix",
Gilderoy Lockhart, Walking with Trolls,
Gilderoy Lockhart, "Traveling on a Boat with a Vampire",
Gilderoy Lockhart, "Wandering with Werewolves",
Gilderoy Lockhart, "A Year with the Snowman of Xizang",
"Who is Gilderoy Lockhart, there will be so many books about this person this semester." Augustus frowned, this great wizard whose strength in the world has reached the legendary level, basically he knows the Tao, but this one called Gilderoy Lockhart, he has indeed never heard of it.
"Gilderoy Lockhart is a wizard who has recently gained a lot of fame, and is said to have solved many challenges that wizards find difficult to do, so he is famous in the wizarding world where power is paramount, many people know him, and he has quite a lot of wizard fans. I'm not very interested in him though. With a smile in her eyes, Aurora explained to Augustus.
"In this way, this person's strength should be extraordinary." Augustus nodded, and didn't ask too much. "Shall we go to Diagon Alley today to buy books and magic supplies for this semester?"
"Well, your father is already waiting for us in the forecourt of the manor." Aurora answered, then turned and led Augustus out of the bedroom and down the hallway towards the front of the manor.
Clovis was sitting on a chair in the vestibule in simple attire, and when he saw Augustus and Aurora arriving, he got up to greet him.
"Augustus, school will start soon, you performed very well last semester, I hope you will continue to work hard this semester, don't worry too much about family affairs, your mother and I will always be your strongest backing." Clovis had a smile on her face. Augustus nodded, although he had been a human for two lives, the family affection of this world was still quite important to him.
The three of them got into a huge carriage parked in front of the manor, and in a gust of wind, drove to London in the scorching sun.
At the entrance of Diagon Alley, the carriage slowly descended, Augustus stepped out of the carriage, the sun was a little scorching, the blazing sun was scorching the earth, and even the surrounding air was steaming and exuding heat.
The Augustus family walked towards the Blotted bookstore, and there were far more than a few of them who went to the bookstore. They were surprised to find a large crowd of people crowded outside the store, all wanting to enter. A large banner was pulled upstairs: Gilderoy Lockhart's autobiography for sale signed and sold from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today
"We can meet him in person!" One of the witches cried out, "I mean, almost all the books on the list are written by him!"
The majority of the crowd seemed to be elderly witches. A tired male wizard stood in the doorway and said, "Ladies, be quiet, don't crowd, watch out for books"
The zigzag line runs from the doorway to the back of the bookstore, where Gilderoy Lockhart signs books.
Gradually, they saw Gilderoy Lockhart. He sat behind his desk, surrounded by large photographs of himself of faces all blinking at the crowd and showing their teeth dazzling white. The real Lockhart wears a robe as blue as a forget-me-not flower, matching his blue eyes. The peaked wizard's hat is playfully crooked over a curly hair.
A short, grumpy man holding a large black camera jumped up and down to take pictures in front of him. Every time the flash flashes blindly, puffs of purple smoke erupt from the camera.
"This is Lockhart?" Augustus was a little incredulous, under the influence of Augustus's probing eye, this man's magic reserves were pitiful, and even inferior to many adult wizards, he would actually become the object of popularity today, I really don't know how many of the autobiographies he wrote were true and credible.
Not far away, Augustus noticed that Harry and Ron were lining up in another long line. "Get out of the way," the short man yelled at Ron, backing away for a better angle, "This was for the Daily Prophet." ”
"It's amazing." Ron said, rubbing the instep of the man's foot.
Gilderoy Lockhart heard. He looked up and saw Ron, then Harry. He stared at Harry for a moment, then jumped up and shouted, "Isn't this Harry Potter?"
The group moved out of the way, whispering excitedly. Lockhart rushed forward, grabbed Harry's arm, and pulled him forward, causing the audience to burst into applause. Harry had a fever on his face, and Lockhart held his hand for the photographer to take a picture. The short man frantically pressed the shutter, and puffs of smoke drifted onto the Weasleys.
Augustus looked at the scene in front of him with some amusement, and it was clear that this Lockhart was a very good figure, and despite his low strength, it did not prevent him from becoming a hot star in the media and under the lights. However, to Augustus's surprise, Dumbledore should not be deceived by these appearances, no matter how glamorous Lockhart is in front of people, for a legendary archmage, these illusions can easily be dismantled, and it is important for a school to ask students to buy so many books about this person. Perhaps, there is a deep meaning in this that he can't see? Augustus shook his head, thinking to himself.
