Deciphering the animated blacklist

Recently, I believe that many anime fans have known the news that many domestic websites have removed a large number of Japanese animations. The removal list is also known as the "Japanese animation blacklist", and this ban has also aroused the attention of the Japanese side, and someone recently wrote an article analyzing the matter.

At present, the Ministry of Culture of China has blacklisted many Japanese animation works, including 38 works on the blacklist, which are: "Tokyo Aftersound", "Blood-C", "School Apocalypse", "Death Agent", "Parasite", "Skeleton Man", "Another (Stand-in)", "Hell Detective", "Exploding Head Samurai", "Tokyo Ghoul Season 2", "Sword Art Online Season 2", "Tokyo ESP", "Tokyo Raven", "Devil May Cry", " The Daughters of the Goddess of Memory", "The New Sister Demon King's Contractor", "Attack on Titan", "Corpse Pie Duì", "Bloodthirsty Attack", "Death Notes", "Death Row Paradise", "Dating Battle Season 2", "Psychometrician", "Female Devilwoman", "Schooldays", "Fairy Hunter", "Fairy Melody", "High School (Demon High School)", "Hundred Flowers Samurai Girl", " Beautiful girl Death returns my H soul! ", "Long Live the Girls Season 2", "My Fox Fairy Girlfriend", "The Ghost Animal Aesthetics of the Rogue Brave", "Sakura Correspondence", "Assassination Classroom", "Black Butler 3", "Big Sword", "Vampire League", etc.

However, if you look closely at these works, it is strange from a Japanese perspective. Let's take a look at some of the things that make you feel inconsistent.

★ There are some reasons on the list that are clearly old anime and not works of this era

On the blacklist, we saw the names of works including "Sakura Correspondence" and "Female Devilman". But they were all works that had been introduced to China before it was broadcast online. When talking about why such old works are on the list, Chinese animation fans analyzed: "Those are not old works that have been uploaded to video sites recently, or old works that have not been popular on the Internet. Judging from the reason, it may be that the official cited the number of bans in the VCD era and the DVD era, which were prevalent in piracy, to the relationship between this blacklist. ”

Although there is a saying that if there is to be a ban list in China, there must be a sufficient number of works on the list (of course, these works also have reasons for being banned), but it does not mean that the most up-to-date numbers and reasons need to be obtained. It is undeniable that the official is likely to directly use the past cases and numbers, and then modify them, so as to lead to the appearance of some old works on the blacklist.

Of course, there are also some relatively new and popular works in the ban list. These are all cases of "shooting the first bird". But there are also some works on the list that feel like they are dispensable. For this reason, regarding this list, we will list the reasons why some of these works were banned, so as to analyze the official thinking as a whole.

★ There is only one reason why the series is on the list

In the list, we see some works that are designated as season 2 or 3. The reason for this phenomenon is that China has its own unique logic in dealing with those "series of works with a time span".

For example, in terms of "Black Butler", there is a third season of "Black Butler BookofCircus" on the list. But if the list of bans this time says "Black Butler", then people in China will think that there is a contradiction in it: "If there are new works in the future, how can we ban them now?" "In addition, if a work starts with season 1, season 2, and season 3, and then suddenly changes to the fourth season of kanji, then there will be problems with the flow again.

For this reason, this time the Chinese side clearly stated that only "Season 3" was blacklisted. You can also feel that you need to regulate your previous works on your own, and that we can't give a clear explanation about the future yet.

By the way, judging from the previous ban on other media forms, some works are often removed from the shelves with the first season after being banned from the second season. But this time, the sequel works on the blacklist list are not the same. Much of the Season 1 content is still on video sites, or it has been revived after a short period of deletion. Therefore, some people believe that in fact, the restrictions are slowly being loosened, or that there is still room for negotiation.

★ Why are some of the most well-known works in China on the list, but works of the same genre are spared?

In addition, many people find that some of the works on the blacklist are not much different from other works that are not on the list in nature, so they are puzzled. In this regard, some analysts pointed out: "The official is to ensure that nothing goes wrong, and it also has the intention of urging the relevant parties to expand the scope of processing on their own", "The official does not want to list too many works, but makes people pay attention to them." "This is also a unique Chinese banning method, right?

On the one hand, the official lists different categories of works in a relatively broad scope, but on the other hand, if too many blacklists are added, then it may attract unnecessary attention, so there are not too many works in each genre...... For example, "SchoolDays" and "Demon High School" are two works that are very well-known in China, and have obviously excessive content, so they are pulled out as models.

In addition, if too well-known works, such as "ONEPIECE" and "Detective Conan", are blacklisted, the impact of the ban will be infinitely magnified, and the blacklist will become useless.

In this context, we can also read the following information about the works that made the list:

"I hope that people will self-regulate works that are similar to those on the list."

"The government has not made a clear statement and has not imposed coercion, but there are some areas that need attention."

The above is only the author's analysis of this phenomenon, of course, it cannot be said that it is completely in line with reality, but if you interpret the blacklist from the perspective of Chinese, then you can still see something. And we also found that some video sites have begun to regulate some of their works.

The announcement of the blacklist is the end of the turmoil that has been going on since March, but we can't help but feel that the prospects for promoting the Japanese animation broadcast business in China are still difficult.
