Interview with rookie voice actress Mikako Izawa
MANY MEDIA OUTLETS WILL PAY ATTENTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF ROOKIE VOICE ACTORS, AND RECENTLY, MIKAKO IZAWA, WHO HAS STARRED IN "VALKYRIEDRIVE-MERMAID-" (処|FEMALE SERVANT), "WAKABA GIRL" (TOKITA MOEKO), AND "ORDINARY HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS WANT TO BE LOCAL IDOLS" (KASHIWAHA MAYCHO) WAS INTERVIEWED.
Q: How did you feel about shooting today?
A: The weather is very good today, and the wind blows on the face to give people a mild feeling. I guess I was able to take a very soft photo for this as well. It was the first time I had participated in such a shoot, so I didn't know what to do, so I ended up bringing an apple.
Q: Apple?
A: It makes me more comfortable moving. I often bring these props to the scene. For example, if you are on a radio program, you will have a tambourine or something like that. This may have something to do with the fact that when I used to participate in stage plays, I had to combine different objects to perform improvisational plays.
Q: Today's outfit is very summery?
A: Thank you very much! I love this dress. Because I liked this style so much, I bought a different color, and this water-colored dress was worn for the first time today. I'm very interested in dresses, so I have a lot of variety. However, there are a lot of events this year, so I hope to try out a variety of costumes.
Q: Recently, the TV anime "VALKYRIEDRIVE–MERMAID-" has been a lot of buzz. And what kind of girl is the female guard you play?
A: In the audition profile, she is a very floaty and ordinary girl. So I also acted with a more natural feeling. But after getting the animated line book, my impression of her changed slightly. Although this girl has a floating side, her heart is still very firm.
Q: In the plot, as long as you kiss Yuka Iguchi and Yuka Shikishima, then Mamoru will become a knife......
A: Yes. It's an ordinary girl, but one day she suddenly became a weapon. In the face of various emergencies, she will feel confused and entangled. So what exactly will happen to the relationship between the two? It's worth everyone's attention!
Also, Mamoru has some vague traits, which makes me think she's so cute (laughs).
Q: In the promotional image, it really feels like a cute character from head to toe.
A: After all, she is very petite! But perhaps for the sake of contrast, she will always retort to the fact that she is petite, "People are not small at all!" "It makes me feel cute again (laughs).
Q: If you had to say, what do you think is in this work that we must know......
A:…… That's a lot, a lot (laughs). But there's no danger of being banned (laughs).
Q: Yes (laughs). Director and character designer Mr. Taku Kaneko has his own obsession, and I heard that he has also portrayed quite a lot of sexy girls. Mainly for the chest.
A: For example, if you're looking for a charm, it's fascinating, but the settings of the other characters are beyond our imagination...... Director Kaneko designs the characters with a lot of love, and there is a never-ending feeling. Anyway, I can feel his love. As for what kind of love is, I can't say anything about it here (laughs).
Q: You have participated in events with director Kaneko, so can you talk about the direction of the work?
A: Directors often say, "I want to draw the bond between Charm and Mori". And he emphasized at the event and on Twitter, "It's a sexy work", but he didn't say that to me (laughs).
Q: I see! The work has a very careful description of the charm and the guard.
A: I watched the storyboard and was very impressed. Sometimes it makes people feel hot, and sometimes it makes people cry. The emotional aspect is described very carefully, and it should be said that every character can make people substitute for feelings. It may be difficult, but I hope that not only male audiences but also women can enjoy this work.
Q: What was the atmosphere like at the dubbing scene?
A: As far as I'm concerned, I've been listening to Ms. Iguchi's broadcasts since I was in junior high school, and I'm really excited to be able to perform with her. I've contributed to her radio shows before. So when I first saw her, goosebumps rose, and I was in a state of disbelief until now. She told me a lot of things, and I benefited a lot from the dubbing process.
Q: With all female voice actors in the scene and a lot of bold shots, does that make it difficult for you......?
A: I was in high school for girls, so I think the dubbing scene is closer to high school. If a male teacher comes in, he will definitely shout, "Don't talk!" (laughs). Maybe that's the kind of open atmosphere.
Q: In addition, from July, you will also appear in "Wakaba Girl" as Moeko Tokita. There are 4 main characters in the work, so what role does Moeko play in it?
A: Since everyone around you is noisy, Moeko-chan may need to complain a lot (laughs). Wakaba-chan (voiced by Awa Lee) has a feeling of lack of tendons, and always does something suddenly; And the real fish (M· A· O dubbing) is a bit self-centered and incredible. As for Nao-chan (voiced by Rii Murakawa), she is a rotten girl. Of course, Moeko-chan is actually quite noisy (laughs).
Q: The role of Moeko should have been determined by audition.
A: Moeko-chan is very good at making dim sum, so she has a high level of femininity, and from the time I auditioned, I thought to myself, "I'm going to play this role!" "And when I got the role, I felt unbelievable. In fact, I mispronounced her name during the audition, and although I changed it back immediately, I was very frustrated when I returned...... So when I decided on Guò, I was really happy! This is the original work of the original Yuyi teacher of "Golden Puzzle", and the funny place is very good, which makes people feel comfortable, so I hope everyone will like the animation.
Q: On the other hand, the anime "Inspiration Girl" that you voiced for Hanako has ended......
A: The scene of "Inspiration Girl" was very fun, so I felt very lonely after it ended. There were many peers at the scene, so the atmosphere was harmonious, and the sound director was very enthusiastic. He carefully instructed us how to use the content of our imagination to express our acting skills. Just listening to his guidance has been very beneficial. Everyone worked together to make a good work, so I always feel very happy to be able to participate in the anime.
Q: You also participated in the recording of the character song.
A: It was my first time working on a character song, so I was nervous, but the lyrics showed Hanako's cute personality, so I also became Hanako, and I was acting rather than singing, so I had a lot of fun!
Q: Ms. Izawa has been working as a voice actress and radio host since she was in high school.
A: I wanted to become a voice actor, but I didn't join the agency myself, so I didn't know where to start. Then Culture Broadcasting launched a campaign called "Ben Di! アニラブ", and open call for hosts. I also liked radio, so I went. In the show, I would eat cakes and wear school uniforms, so I was free to play every time (laughs).
Q: When did you first become interested in voice actors?
A: I was probably hooked on anime when I was in junior high school. As for the earliest opportunity, it should be "SA Gifted Student".
Q: So, do you have any favorite things in your daily life?
A: For example, I was climbing a rock, and recently I suddenly became obsessed with cooking! I make my own bento when I participate in the recording, and even though the bento is cold, it is still delicious, and it takes a lot of effort to do that. I really enjoyed it. And if you put tofu in a hamburger, it still has a soft taste even if it is cold~ On my 20th birthday, I said to my family: "I'll cook today's meal!" "Then I made a super luxurious meal. Mix hamburgers and salmon with tomato sauce with French bread and red wine. Also, after I make snacks, I give them to my agent and friends. It's one of my big passions.
Q: Is there anything else you like to do?
A: I practiced driving hard. I haven't touched a car for a year since I got my driver's license, so I feel like it's bad if I don't practice anymore (laughs).
Q: Where would you like to go if you were to go for a drive?
A: I want to go to Iwate! Originally, the opportunity to start practicing was to go to the secret station to have a look. It's a great feeling to travel with a sketchbook. I went to the art department when I was in junior high school, so I love drawing.
Q: Speaking of which, your nickname is "MIKE", how did you come to be?
A: I joined the drama club when I was in elementary school, and the nickname I played in "Masako-chan" was this Mike-chan. And she herself has a line that is, "I hate the nickname MIKE-chan, so I should have a better name." I still remember that line vividly (laughs). But I love MIKE, so I've been called that since I was 12 years old!
Q: Mike-chan's name has a cat-like feel, and you've tweeted a lot about cats. So you like cats?
A: I love it! I also have a cat drawn on my signature. At the moment I have a tiger-skinned, chubby cat at home. It makes me feel very warm and cute when it gets under the covers~ (laughs). It's so cute, so every morning when I wake up, I want it to fix my hair, and then I deliberately go to sleep for a while (laughs). I also have a cat shape
I save the photograph of the cat in a handbag and look at it often.
Q: You've also posted a lot of pictures of cats on Twitter (laughs).
A: There are many kinds of imitation (laughs). When the cat opens its eyes, I open its eyes and so on. And when my family sees me like this, they will complain: "What the hell are you doing?" (laughs)
Q: So, do you have any voice actor partners that you have close relationships with?
A: It's like Minami-chan Shinoda who joined me on the "アニラブ" broadcast. We are the same age, so we often talk about our troubles together. Also, we agreed to "be sure to report good news to each other!" "We've had a great relationship since high school, and even though we had a difficult time, we're still starting to act, and I feel like we're growing together.
In addition, there are Ibo apricot tree sauce, etc.,Girls who are with me in **A office! In the past, everyone would go to eat barbecue together, and they were very excited to grill the octopus, and shouted, "It's open!" It's open! (laughs)
Q: What are your goals for working on as a voice actor in the future?
A: I'm thinking about my goals for the second half of the year. I've been working a lot on animation lately, but I've not been able to perform as much as I want, so I want to improve my expression and understanding every day, and I want to be able to pass on my good work to as many people as possible.
Q: Finally, would you like to give a few words to the readers?
A: Thank you for reading this article! I'm just a beginner as a voice actor, but in order to get more or less known to everyone, I try to challenge my voice and express my personality on the radio. If we can meet somewhere, then please support us! I would be very happy!
Q: Thank you for your time today!
