Chapter 6 Arriving at School
In the compartment at the back of the car, Ron was telling Harry about the famous ball games he had seen with his brothers, and Augustus listened to Ron's exaggerated voice while looking down at the history of magic. Just as he was about to get to the best of the game, the compartment door was pushed open again, but this time it wasn't Neville, the boy who lost the toad, or Hermione Granger.
Three boys entered, and Harry immediately recognized one of them as the pale boy he had met in Lady Morkin's robes shop. He looked at Harry with much greater interest than he had in Diagon Alley.
"Is it true?" "The whole train was talking about Harry Potter being in this compartment," he asked. So that's you. Right?" Yes. Harry said as he looked at the other two boys, both of whom were short and ugly, standing on either side of the little white face, one on each side, almost like one of his bodyguards. Augustus still looked down at the book, as if he hadn't noticed anyone entering. "Oh, this is Crabbe, this is Goyle." The pale-faced boy noticed that Harry was watching them, and casually said, "My name is Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." Ron coughed lightly to keep from laughing. Draco Malfoy looked at him. "You think my name is ridiculous, don't you? Don't ask who you are. My father told me that the Weasleys were red-haired, freckled-faced, and that they couldn't afford to have more children. ”
He turned to Harry and said, "You'll soon find out that some wizarding families are much better off than others, Potter. You don't want to make friends with someone else, do you? I can help you at this point. ”
"Draco, you're promoting your pure-blood aristocracy again." Hearing this, Augustus, who finally raised his head, chuckled at Malfoy.
"Master Augustus? Why are you here? Malfoy, who had not noticed the third person in the carriage, asked in surprise as he looked at Augustus' standard blonde and silver eyes.
"I'm a freshman, too, why don't you welcome me to Hogwarts?" Augustus waved his hand casually and said lightly.
"Why, it's an honor for you to come to Hogwarts, I just didn't expect you to be in the same box as this lowly Weasley." Malfoy said to Augustus flatteringly, and glanced at Ron in disgust, his expression changing so quickly that it was almost smacking.
Harry and Ron stood up. Ron blushed as much as his red hair.
"Say it again." He said.
"Oh, you want to fight, don't you?" Malfoy sneered.
"Unless you give me a break now." Harry said that he wasn't actually as brave on the inside as he was on the outside, as Crabbe and Goyle were much bigger than him and Ron. But he always felt that Augustus would not sit idly by and ignore them, it was just an intuition.
Sure enough, looking at Malfoy, who was standing awkwardly at the door of the carriage, Augustus put down the book in his hand and said to Malfoy meaningfully: "Okay, Draco, don't continue to make trouble, you will only make others look down on you by doing this, and it will not do you and your family any good." ”
To Harry and Ron, this sounded like an elder teaching a young man who didn't know how to behave, but to their surprise, Malfoy clearly respected Augustus, and after hearing this, he just glared at Harry Ron fiercely, then bowed to Augustus, and then exited the carriage with Crabgoyle.
"I didn't expect that Malfoy kid to be so obedient." Ron whispered to Harry, and at the same time looked at Augustus, who was looking down at the book again, with a hint of envy and fear.
The train slowed down and finally stopped. Passengers pushed and shoved, rushed to the door, and descended to a small, dark platform. The cold of the night sent Harry shivering. Then a lamp flickered above the students' heads, and Harry heard a familiar voice shouting, "First year! First-year students are here! Harry, come over here, how are you?"
In the midst of a sea of people, Hagrid's bearded face smiled. "Come on, come with me, are there any new first-year students? Watch out for the soles of your feet, all right! First-year students come with me!"
They followed Hagrid's slippery stumbling, and unlike the stumbling of the freshmen, Augustus walked smoothly down a steep and narrow path as if he could see the terrain around him. It was pitch black on both sides of the path, and no one spoke. Only the boy who lost the toad occasionally sniffed a sniff or two.
"Turn this corner, and you'll soon see Hogwarts for the first time." Hagrid shouted back. Then there was a loud "oh ——!" At the end of the narrow path, a black lake suddenly unfolded. On the high hillside on the other side of the lake rises a majestic castle with spires and windows twinkling under the stars. "No more than four people per boat!" Hagrid exclaimed, pointing to a group of small boats moored to the shore. Augustus calmly stepped onto a small boat, with Harry and Ron following closely behind, and the remaining empty seat was snatched up by a grinning Hermione.
"Mr. Augustus, we meet again." Looking at Augustus on the ship, Hermione, who obviously ignored Ron and Harry, said in surprise.
"yes, Miss Granger, that's a coincidence." Augustus replied with a slight smile...... "Are you all on board?" Hagrid shouted, and he was in a boat by himself. "That's good to move forward!" A group of small boats immediately rowed across the mirror-like lake. Everyone was silent, staring at the huge castle that reached into the sky. As they approached the cliff on which the castle stood, it seemed to rise above them. "Keep your head down!" As the first boats approached the cliff, Hagrid shouted. Everyone bowed their heads, and the boat carried them through the ivy curtain that covered the cliff front to the secluded open entrance. They followed a dark tunnel that seemed to lead to the castle's underneath, eventually reaching a place that resembled an underground dock, and then climbing up to the ground of gravel and small pebbles.
Illuminated by the light of Hagrid's lantern, they climbed a tunnel in the rocks and eventually reached a flat, damp meadow in the shadow of the castle. Looking at this huge castle, in Augustus's silver pupils, a huge stream of data was flashing rapidly, as if he had obtained some treasure, and the corners of Augustus's mouth raised a beautiful arc.
Then everyone climbed a stone staircase and gathered in front of a large oak door. "Are you all there?" Hagrid raised a large fist and slammed it three times on the castle gate. And just like that, the mysterious Hogwarts is about to be revealed to the new students.
