"The Town Has You" Interview with Nanami Kansaki voice actor Yuki Takao
In the voice actor industry, where a large number of new talents emerge every year, there are only a few people who can succeed. But today's newcomer may be tomorrow's big bowl, so some Japanese media conducted interviews with newcomer voice actors. The protagonist of this issue is Yuki Takao, who starred in "The Town Has You" Nanami Kamisaki.
Q: Miss Takao played the role of Maria Sarushima in "Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches", and the plot of the first appearance did not disappoint the audience! Here, please tell us a little bit about the character of Maria.
Takao: Maria is one of the Seven Witches, and she is a returned child from the United States...... Ah, the original setting information didn't say that it was the United States, but I think since she can speak English lines, it should have something to do with it.
Then, during the dubbing, I asked the original author, Miki Yoshikawa, "Where did Maria come from?" To which the teacher replied, "America". Considering the relationship between the children who have returned to China, so even among the witches, her appearance of playing KISS is the most adult-like.
Q: The ending song "MIMI" was also written, composed and sung by Ms. Takao. And this song is included in the album "CANDYMAGIC", so what does Miss Takao think about this album?
Takao: The word "candy" in the title means candy, and you can feel the taste of candy as soon as you eat it. However, in the process of tasting the taste, the melting sensation is similar to "the passage of time". It is precisely because of the time limit that I will go all out to show the taste, which is a feeling of joy and sorrow.
The characters of "Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches" want to pass on their ideas to others in the limited 3 years of high school, and everyone enjoys their youth together. And it is precisely because of the limited time that I can feel the shining youth.
Q: Is there anything in the lyrics that you particularly care about?
Takao: When I was eating candy, I noticed that the word "I like" was written on the wrapper, so I wrapped the candy wrapper and put it in my pocket. I had read the original work before I wrote the lyrics, so I thought that if it was Rei Shiraishi (voice actor: Saori Hayami)-chan, I would definitely do something like this. If you're unrequited, please try this "love magic" (laughs).
Q: This kind of melodic melody is impressive, so how did you compose the music?
Takao: At first, it was in the form of a sample song, so I used other lyrics, but after accepting this work, I rewrote the lyrics. I also ate sugar myself, feeling this sweet and sour and sad mood.
Q: Do the lyrics of this sweet and sour feeling also mix with your own real experience? Or is it just a brain supplement?
Takao: I wrote this while reminiscing about my high school life. I went to an all-girls school, so I didn't fall in love during that time. Although I have experienced a lot with my friends, it has nothing to do with the class. It's like the bell rings at 9 a.m., and I still don't want to go to the classroom, to find a corner of the library that no one has ever found...... Looking back now, I would have complained to myself, "What did you do? "I was actually in a lot of pain at that time. But after this period of time, it seems to be so tightly gripping my heart. This is the so-called youth.
Q: Just listening to Ms. Takao's introduction made me feel like I was being captured......
Takao: Even when I grow up, I still have endless troubles. I feel like I'm still in my youth. As time passes, when I look back on it in the future, I think I'm still very young now. "CANDYMAGIC" is also a combination of the current me, and it is a youth song that looks back on the past and feels happy.
Q: There is also a candy logo in the lyrics. This logo has been used in many places by Miss Takao, and even appeared on the Twitter account of γΏγΏγγMIMI recently.
Takao: I came up with the logo when I realized about candy, but I'm worried about whether it can be displayed in karaoke (laughs). The recent buzzword of MIMI is candy, so it is used in many places. When I type "candy" on my phone, this symbol will come up (laughs).
Q: In addition, the e-book "ζ§γγγ³γγγγ―" was released a few days ago.
Takao: Last year's debut album "Maze γ»γ³γγ‘γ³γΏγ«" was made into a light novel in this form and published. If you watch it with the song, you can feel the growth of a 19-year-old girl, and it will resonate.
Q: This kind of work transcends the limitations of genre and presents a rich and colorful worldview. It seems that Ms. Takao has participated in many auditions since she was in middle school, so what kind of dreams did you have before?
Takao: I've been a fan of anime since I was in elementary school, and I admired Ms. Minami Takayama after watching "Ninja Rantaro" and "Detective Conan". Since junior high school, I have also written songs because of my interests. After that, I thought I wanted to hold a solo concert, so I participated in about 100 auditions.
Q: 100 games!? This is really beyond the vitality of ordinary people.
Takao: I hate giving up. However, I feel that in the process of participating in the audition, I have gradually grown, so I will continue to persevere. At first, I couldn't even pass the written review, and then gradually it was the first interview and the second interview, and I felt that the harder I worked, the easier it was to be noticed.
Q: As a singer-songwriter, what genre are you more interested in?
Takao: I used to love Paramore as a rock band. And respect Cindy Laupa. It's not so much that Cindy Laupa has a shocking singing voice or special beauty, but that her unique charm is more charming.
I don't think my songs are good. Originally, I was a music addict in elementary school, but I also failed in the singer selection of the junior high school light music department, and finally had to play the guitar (laughs). Since I was in high school, someone has always said, "You sing well" (laughs).
Q: I'm sorry. Could there be such a drastic change!?
Takao: This one has undergone special training. And it's still going on (laughs). When I was in middle school, I would go to karaoke.
Q: You've been composing music since junior high school...... So how many tunes do you have today?
Takao: About 300 songs. But I don't think every song can be sung in front of others.
Q: 300 songs! Just by looking at this number, you can feel the change in your mood every day.
Takao: yes. Now I feel embarrassed to listen to the songs I used to be in high school. And even if it was a song from 1 year ago, I would sigh that I actually wrote this kind of thing. For example, in the first album, there is a song called "SAY-YOU", which is about separating oneself as a voice actor and oneself as a singer into two people, and singing towards each other. And with the different periods of review, I feel different every time. And it would be nice if the listeners could also get different insights over time, and then let this song accompany them for a long time.
Q: Where did you get the inspiration for composing?
Takao: I guess I get most of it from the diary I write every day. There is also the time to swim in the pool, and the time to take a walk and enjoy the scenery. I can feel a lot of different things, and sometimes I feel that it is hard (laughs).
Q: You debuted in August 2013 under the name of MIMI. At that time, I didn't know that I would be "singing as voice actor Yuki Takao", right?
Takao: I didn't show my face when I debuted. And γΏγΏγγMIMI is my companion γ‘γγγΌγ who takes on the role of "eye", and my lyrics and composition play the role of "ear". And on the album cover, it is often an illustration drawn by γ‘γγγΌγγ So we didn't have any public appearances at concerts. However, last summer we held our first concert and announced that we would sing under the name of voice actor Yuki Takao.
Q: What kind of thoughts did you have at that time?
Takao: At first, I wanted to separate myself from γ‘γγγΌγ and meet everyone...... After all, it's the illustration of γ‘γγγΌγ that is shown in front of everyone.,And if I'm the "ear" in front of the public.,There's a sense of disobedience.γ
But now Yuki Takao and Mimi are linked. The world view created by γ‘γγγΌγ is fused with the real me.,A new γΏγΏγγMIMI was born.γ
Q: You also felt the rewards of Yuki Takao and Mimi fusing together.
Takao: Now I don't have the same tangles as before, and I feel very comfortable. The experience I gained from the music activities was applied to my voice acting, and what I got from acting inspired the songs, and they were all connected.
Q: In the past, you also held an event under the name of the Audiovisual Ensemble.
Takao: It's different from a solo song, it's an independent project. It's an independent project, so if you want to do it, you're solely responsible for it (laughs). In the audio-visual room, it is as if you are learning with the guests, and you can make progress together, and the distance between you is shortened. And I call them "γΏγΏγγγ‘γ€γ",
Basically, the event is a concert, but in the past, iβRis was invited as a guest and everyone sang "WEARE! and other animation songs. I felt like I was a part of iβRis and I was very happy (laughs). Then I used to talk about jokes about what my color scheme should be (laughs).
Q: During the event, the unfinished "1,2, Girl" (the theme song of the e-book "Vision γγγ³γγγγ―") was announced, and such a stage event is still rare.
Takao: That's right! I want to let everyone listen to it before it's finished. After the concert, I would think about how to make it more lively next time and change the lyrics, so "1, 2, Girl" seems to be a song that I wrote with everyone.
Q: Soon Miss Takao will be holding a solo concert for the first time in one year since last summer!
Takao: On June 7th in Osaka and June 28th in Tokyo, I will bring you new songs including "CANDYMAGIC"! Last year was my first concert, and it was also the first time I stood in front of everyone as Yuki Takao. At that time, there were also some people who failed to adjust their feelings. It was the best concert, but I couldn't fully play it because I wasn't strong enough.
However, I participated in a lot of activities during the year, and I felt that I should grow up slowly. Therefore, this time, I hope to bring a concert that will "enjoy each other" with the fans.
"CANDYMAGIC" is also almost 10 months after the last album, and I don't think it's been in vain. I didn't hold a concert after the release of the first album, but I was able to let everyone hear the new songs during the concert, so I could feel that the first album and "CANDYMAGIC" were officially completed in the form of "music".
Whether it's someone who knows me because of the anime or someone who knows me through the music, I'd be very happy if people who like our music can gather here.
Q: Is there anything else that Ms. Takao wants to challenge as a voice actress in the future?
Takao: I'm still very immature, and I'm still in the stage of exploring acting, so I'm going to take on various roles with a greedy mentality. When it comes to the role you want to challenge...... I want to play a non-human role! When I was writing lyrics and composing music, I hated it, but I still faced myself, so as a voice actor, I wanted to play a role completely different from myself (laughs).
Q: Finally, would you like to say a few words to the readers?
Takao: I'll continue to work hard in the future. If you can cheer me on, then it will be very happy. And it would be nice if I could meet you somewhere!
Q: Thank you for your time today!
