Interview with voice actress Marie Miyake

Since her debut in 2007, Marie Miyake has attracted attention with her roles such as "Rotary Penguin Jar" Ogino Apple, "Scarlet Okin" Suki Kasuga, and "Idol Master Cinderella Girl" Nana Abe. Recently, some media interviewed her.

Q: Miss Miyake starred in "Idol Master Cinderella Girl" Nana Abe, a girl who is "forever 17 years old" and has some radio waves, so what was the trigger for this role?

Miyake: When I auditioned, I first tried Miria Akagi, an elementary school girl. But in the end, it was the role of Abe Nana. Idols among the idol masters always add voice actor characteristics to the setting, so I started to think that Nana should not be infused with any strange attributes (laughs). Nana wanted to become an idol, so she worked very hard to do it, and after I got this role, I had the idea of continuing to be a voice actress and continue to improve along with the performance.

Q: So, you have a deep affection for Nana.

Miyake: yes. Although she is still working in a coffee shop, I also hope that Nana will become a top idol one day when I follow her. This role also contains the love of the staff, in fact, there was no effect sound in her lines, but the staff specially added a two-dimensional general sound. It makes me very happy.

Q: The second season that will start in July is also worth looking forward to.

Miyake: I can't lose to the staff, so I want to try out an improvisation or something like that. In addition, Nana also shows her personality on platforms other than animation such as radio dramas, so how will this personality be applied to animation in the future? I hope you look forward to it.

Q: Ms. Miyake has appeared in many works before, so if you had to recommend it to fans, which one would you choose?

Miyake: Every work has made me emotionally invested, but I must say that it was the first time I auditioned for "Rotary Penguin Jar", where I played the heroine. I got the role of Ogino Apple.

Q: What is there about Oginome apples that is worth noting?

Miyake: Including director Kunihiko Kihara, the people who drew the pictures and created the plots...... It was as if all the staff members were working together to create this work, so I didn't think too much about it, and I focused on acting, and I was already doing my best at that time. I guess it's a character who brings out all of my abilities.

Q: You also played the role of Mitsuri Utata in "Rotary Penguin Jar".

Miyake: It's a character that I really like YY, and I sometimes have over-brain supplementation, so I can watch the character with me (laughs).

Also, if you can watch my work little by little from this original work, then I think I can connect with me now. Accumulated experience connects the future. Because of this, in the role of Nana Abe, I put everything I have accumulated from the beginning of the apple to the present. And if I play another role in the future, the experience gained by Abe Narina will also be used for that role.

Q: Do you review your previous works?

Miyake: When my father comes to the house, I show him. However, my father wasn't very familiar with anime, so even if I said, "Dad, this is my voiced character," he honestly couldn't tell that it was me acting (laughs). At this time, I will also accompany him to look at the works, and then reflect on "Is that kind of hard work at that time slackened now?" "It seems like I've worked harder before."

Q: Can you feel the change in acting?

Miyake: At that time, I was too hard at acting, and I felt that "ah~ compared to the lines, it seems that my love xù runs faster~" (laughs). For example, in the role of Kasuga Suki in "Scarlet Owe Film", I didn't feel like I was thinking about other people's situations when I was dubbing, but the people around me were very gentle and tolerant of me. Although my strength is far from enough, it would be nice if one day I could be like my predecessors and let the newcomers know where they are lacking.

Q: So, let's talk about Ms. Miyake's private life. You're interested in games, reading, rakugo, etc., but what have you been enjoying lately?

Miyake: Amateur radio transceiver and receiver! I've loved it before, but now I'm sure I've reached the highest peak. I always take my radio with me, and I go to various places and tell people that radio is very active here. Ah, do you play this too!?

Q: Ah, no, I don't play...... But I think my father must have had it. Speaking of which, what was the trigger for you to start playing with radios?

Miyake: When I was in college, a teacher who took care of me put a radio in the research room and said that it would be a way to "peacefully communicate with people from afar," and then I became interested. Although mobile phones are very convenient, once the signal is noisy, you often can't hear the sound, right? And the radio can come in handy at this time, and it can also be said that it will benefit society. …… With that said, let's all start having fun (laughs).

Q: (laughs) Speaking of which, do people around you also play around?

Miyake: No...... Every time I go to work, I ask, but basically everyone has it at work, but they don't use it. And most of them are only known to people who are the age of fathers.

Q: What do you do when you have a break?

Miyake: Stay at home. I've been playing games all day. If you don't play this kind of game for a while, the operation will be rusty, so I simply cleared the level in one go. And I was introduced to games when I was about 3 years old and started remembering. After all, my father travels a lot, so I remember spending my time playing video games when I was lonely (laughs), and no girl would play games at home alone at that time, so I guess I was more offbeat. Boys do. It's a good time to do now (laughs).

Q: Now that I'm feeling like it's a great environment for game fans from a professional point of view (laughs). Have you talked to other voice actors about the game?

Miyake: It's funny that some people have starred in games that I like and say, "I like this work too" (laughs).

Q: Have you ever been to a game center?

Miyake: When I was working in card games, I wanted to use my own cards, and then I learned the rules of arcade games (laughs).

Q: What are the rules?

Miyake: A person who is good at playing arcade games, and is good at whatever he plays. Every time I stand behind them and look at them, I ask, "Can I watch you play?" "Also, like the games near the game center, the conference held at the game center. There are a lot of really fun games.

Q: Are you interested in this kind of competition or conference?

Miyake: I was playing a game and the clerk asked, "Do you want to go to the conference?" "But it didn't work because of work...... Of course, it's still a pleasure. Because I love playing games, I hope that the game will be able to travel to many places and be supported by all kinds of people.

Q: Not only herself, but also Ms. Miyake wants to make everyone around her feel the charm of the game.

Miyake: But I'm more fanatical...... Isn't it better to be more ordinary? I also love to read! I like to appreciate Mr. Fujisawa Shuhei's period dramas and pure literature, so I often go to the library. I'll look for books on the shelves that I wouldn't normally read to broaden my horizons. Ah, I read your magazines when I was in middle school! I remember that there was a special feature of "Artists' Reading Library" at that time.

Q: Hey~ Thank you very much (laughs)!

Miyake: Next time, please make a special feature on radio too!

Q: Ah, what about me...... Will follow the above reflection! So, for Ms. Miyake, who has many interests, what do you want to challenge next?

Miyake: Go to Ham-Fair! This event takes place every summer. I'd like to have the opportunity to participate, but I guess it's not likely. I thought about recommending myself and asking if I would like to make a public recording of a radio program or something like that (laughs).

Q: (laughs). So what do you want to tell everyone here?

Miyake: How to survive the crisis and how to live longer together! I will continue to learn this knowledge to make it easier to understand, so I hope you can say, "I really benefited from listening to what Ms. Miyake said!" "Since it's Ham-Fair, I'm going to talk to all kinds of people with permission, and I hope to meet people who are interested in radio, voice actors, and anime. I think radio anime will be very interesting.

Q: Ambitious~ We'll take note of it. So a few words for the readers.

Miyake: I'll hand it over to Marie Miyake. As a voice actor, I take every role seriously, so I will work hard to make my acting skills arouse everyone's imagination, so please advise me!

Q: Thank you for your time today!
