The reason I hate teaching comics in college is because I find that very few students are able to write a complete idea of a comic. The idea, that is, the outline of the work. The most important thing in coming up with a work is to come up with a complete outline. However, many students fail to understand this.

When I say to my students, "Write me an idea," most of them submit "settings" such as characters and backgrounds in the work. When I typed my assignment back, I told them, "This is the setting, not the idea." Rewrite", they handed in a more detailed "setting". Although we all know the term "knot", there are very few people who can write "knot".

The students put together the characters, the detailed setting of the stage, etc., and wrote, "So, let's start the adventure!" Then I was ready to start drawing comics. To this I said, "No, that's not the case, the so-called idea requires you to write out the specific content of the 'big adventure' in a complete structure!" But then I suddenly realized that they themselves didn't know what the end of the road was!

Today's college students are all born in the 90s. Many of the comics they read in shonen magazines were serialized before they were born. The only reason why these works ended was that they were not popular and were cut in half. Therefore, the students believe that as long as they decide on the characters and the stage first, and then slowly think about repeating the "starting and turning" and "starting and turning" and dragging the plot down, this is considered a comic work. The problem I'm talking about is not limited to comics, but if we can't get students to start writing short stories, then how can we talk about education. Mr. Osamu Tezuka once said that manga artists start with four sheets.,But the nature of serialized comics is different after all.,I think it's more appropriate to start with the amount of 8 pages.。 However, the requirements of the comic publishing industry for students are "large and long-form", and even if the short works are excellent, they will not be able to make their debut as a cartoonist!

The reason why I have repeatedly warned people about the "trend towards large manga novels" is that I have witnessed the emergence of a large number of "new writers who do not know how to conceive." And I believe that such a situation will lead to a decline in the ability of manga to tell stories → a decrease in manga sales.
