Light novels are usually a combination of an author and an illustrator, but the light novel "The Correct Use of Dogs and Scissors" is very different, and the two male authors work together to create a "base" that makes this light novel unique. This time, after signing the contract, we interviewed the two authors, and by the way, we asked the two editors in charge - Miss Yukiko Arakawa.

1. Are you visiting China for the first time? What's it like to come to Shanghai?

More: It's the first time. I am very happy that although it is the first time to come to China for an autograph session, it is the third time abroad [Note: This is the first overseas autograph meeting of Mr. Gengyi]. I'm glad to be here. It is our dream to hold autograph sessions abroad. I've been asking the editor to let me come, and I'm really happy to have that dream come true this time. We are also encouraged to see how enthusiastic our readers are.

2. What do you think of as a story between a writer and a dog? Do you both love dogs?

More: Yes.

Yi: We both like to read, so I thought it would be interesting to set the protagonist as someone who likes to read. The protagonist likes to read, so the heroine is set to be a writer who writes books. That's where the creation begins.

3. What is the most difficult thing about writing as a light novel writer?

What's more: What should you do when you re-read what you wrote and find it boring? Of course, there are also ideas for readers, but you still have to find it interesting. How to write more interesting, here is more difficult. Also take into account the deadline. At this time, two people need to discuss how to solve it.

4. The works created by the two are funny, does this have anything to do with their personalities?

Yi: We're not particularly cheerful people, but we like to read funny books and write funny things. In order to write what I want to write, I am also trying to be cheerful.

More: Yes. I don't think so.

5. Have you ever thought about creating other types of light novels?

More: We like to be funny, and so is "Dog and Scissors", which suits us better, and has always taken this route. Change is not considered now. There are some other elements to be used, but the most important thing is to be funny.

6. Where does the inspiration come from?

Yi: I usually watch a lot of anime, comics, and games. In this way, the accumulated experience is a source of creation.

7. Have you ever seen the animated version of your light novel, and are there any interesting facts?

More: Before the feature film aired, I watched it when it was dubbed. Readers who read it also tweeted, and when they saw this, they were very moved. The first episode is to watch it with illustrator Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. The thought of creating and watching together feels that it is not easy to get to this point, and I am very moved.

8. What else do you do together besides creating?

Yi: Sometimes I travel, but after that, I go to the bookstore and find my favorite book, and then I go it alone.

More: Basically, they act alone, although they eat together and play together, they all play separately, so that they can cooperate better.

9. In the work, Xia Ye is a character with queen attributes, what kind of women do the two like in real life?

More: I just like Xia Ye's this, super punctual, super awesome. But fiddling with scissors is still quite something, and it will be life-threatening.

10. Look at the two of them's Twitter retweets of the same content, do the two go back to this year's C86?

More: If the deadline is okay. Illustrator Tetsuhiro Nabeshima also does it there, and so do friends, and some people can't see it until they get there. So go to one of the three days, say hello, and have a good look. Today's event was the same, everyone was very enthusiastic. I still want to experience more of this kind of scene.

11. What are some interesting things about the three of you in your creation?

Yukiko Arakawa: The work "The Correct Use of Dogs and Scissors" won the Newcomer Award, and when I got the manuscript when I ran for the election, I found that the heroine was 29 years old. After winning the award, there will be a version.,As the heroine of a light novel, this age is too old.,So it's changed to the current age of twenty.。

12. Have you ever tried to delay the delivery until the last moment?

Yukiko Arakawa: Although it was delayed until the last moment, it was delivered, so it was no problem. Novels are not meant to be driven out by working hard, but I hope that they will make effective use of their time and work hard to write interesting works. Other authors have dragged it even harder, and compared to them, there is no problem at all.

13. Do the editors have any problems that they want to get rid of?

Yukiko Arakawa: Don't have a good relationship with other writers. After all, everyone is competitive, and they are considered to be more successful writers among their peers, and their works are also animated, and they sell better, so they are in a better position. But despite this, they got closer to other writers... I hope they are more aggressive.

More: This is mainly about me.

Yukiko Arakawa: Also, don't quarrel. I had a quarrel before, and I was worried about breaking up if I quarreled again. No problem yet.

14. How to solve the contradiction in the creative idea?

Yukiko Arakawa: I hope the two of them will solve it first, and then give me the result. There has never been a case of three people arguing together. If this happens, I don't know who I'm going to help. So it's usually the two of them to solve it internally first.

More: I usually listen first. We're all creators, and what we create is a product, so I ask questions with an open attitude and ask each other what they think. Although there were differences of opinion, the two still discussed, perhaps because they didn't understand, so they still had to listen to each other's opinions and didn't quarrel. It's hard to quarrel.

15. If you were to make a live-action movie, who would the heroine choose?

More: When I first thought about it, I wrote it five years ago, so I thought it would be Rina Tanaka at that time. I haven't thought about it now, and I haven't thought about it yet.
