Chapter 40 Special Science School

In February 1956, I was transferred to a special college to teach.

In mid-February, we had a group of more than 20 people, including Wang Yi, who was accompanied by Wang Yi, took the train from Chuncheng for an hour, got off at Fengming Village Station, and walked three kilometers to the Special Science School, which is located in a mountain col, and when we walked into the school, many leading teachers came out to greet us.

The special specialized school is a special school for training cadres, and it was not long before we found out that not only the middle-ranking officers of our army studied here, but also many Qu State officers studied here. It turned out that this was a special school for training military cadres of the Qu State, so it was very secret to the outside world.

The special science school is a division-level unit directly under the leadership of the provincial military district. President Zhang, a native of Yuzhang Province, an old Red Army, was later awarded the rank of colonel; Political Commissar Chen, a native of Nanzhao Province, was later awarded the rank of colonel; The vice-chancellor's surname was Du, and he was later awarded the rank of lieutenant colonel; The director of academic affairs was transferred from the side column, a college student, and later awarded the rank of captain; There is also a comrade Qu Guo surnamed Ruan, who is the vice president. The captains of each company are all at the level of a captain battalion, the platoon commander is at the level of a captain company, and the cadets are all cadres at or above the battalion and company level. The level of cadres who come here to participate in the study is still relatively high.

The house here is relatively old, and it is said that it was originally an arsenal, and we used the dormitory of the arsenal. In the mountains to the east, there are many caves, and in the caves are hidden arsenals. Rows of houses start at the foot of the hill and are built like terraced rice fields, where teachers and students live.

Qu Guo's comrades-in-arms lived in a large mountain col to the south, and Vice President Nguyen lived with his soldiers. Not far away is the training department, where the logistics office and the head of the school work. It is relatively open, and there are more than a dozen small cars of all sizes parked. The chief of logistics was an old Balu (later awarded the rank of major). There are more than 1,000 students in the school, more than 900 students, and more than half of them are Qu Guo's comrades-in-arms.

The mission of the special science school is to impart knowledge of military theory and improve military skills. That is, to study military theory, individual tactics, combat service, the principles of detachment operations, the use and training of infantry weapons, and so on, and the duration of study is one to two years.

The work is heavy every day, and the exercise is not at dawn, and the school does not have a big playground, so I run back and forth along the road. After the exercise, they washed themselves in the small river, had breakfast for 15 minutes, and then went to class or outdoor skills training; because the classrooms were not enough, only some of the students could attend classes to learn theories, and the other part could conduct military training on the playground. Later, a simple instructor's office, a student classroom and a large grass hut venue were built, and the conditions were improved. Although the teaching "hardware" and "software" of the special science school are not as good as those of the third speed, the enthusiasm of each student for learning is very high.

At first, I was worried that Qu Guo's friends did not know Chinese and would have difficulty learning it, but later to my surprise, they learned military theories (mainly scientific knowledge and military theories, etc.), which were no worse than our students. Due to the constraints of discipline, we rarely inquire into the details of our friends' lives, and we never ask them anything except for classes and tutoring.

The military theory course is mainly about guerrilla warfare theory, which is a key compulsory course for Qu Guo's friends. China's guerrilla tactics are so famous in the world that even "Claurence" is beyond the reach of them. Guerrilla warfare cannot be learned by Westerners for the very simple reason that guerrilla warfare is tantamount to a group of bandits without the support of the broad masses of the people, while the Western powers are aggressive and anti-people's warfare, and it is impossible to have the support of the people, so they cannot learn and apply guerrilla tactics.

We are well aware that being a teacher here is not only to train cadres for the motherland but also for international friends. Therefore, we should be more conscientious and do our best to complete the internationalist tasks assigned to us by our superiors.

Qu Guo's friends are all short and strong, strong, hard-working. Usually we salute each other when we meet, and they are used to putting their hands together on their chests as a sign of respect. They are optimistic and smiling, and sometimes they say to us in private: "Far away from the motherland and relatives, it is not easy to study. They often said gratefully, "You have come here to study, and you have treated us like brothers, and you have given us food, clothing, and supplies." After saying that, he put his hands together and put them on his chest to express his gratitude.

In terms of living treatment, it is true that they are superior to us, live in the best house, eat the most high-end food, and enjoy regiment-level treatment. They wore leather shoes in class, high-top liberation shoes in exercises, and the clothes were made of Chongni's twill, and Vice Principal Ruan wore general's fabric. They like to eat glutinous rice, grilled fish, and barbecued meat, and the cooks try to make a Vietnamese dish to their satisfaction. Therefore, the purchase car has to go to Yixian, Chuncheng and other places every day to purchase, and the commercial department also gives the green light.

The school has a wide range of recreational activities. Every week, there are movies (mostly war films, feature films), dancing, acting, and singing competitions. Later, a large playground was opened, and basketball, football, and volleyball games were held, and dinner was held every day, and soon the sports meeting was also held. The relationship between the students is very harmonious, and they learn from each other and enhance friendship.

On Sundays, we teachers can take leave to go out, walk more than ten miles, go to Tangchi Town to take a natural hot bath, eat some dumplings, rice noodles across the bridge, noodles or something, and have a really good time. Sometimes I take the train to Yixian County for a day to relax and relax. For the sake of secrecy, our friends can't go out, and I really feel sorry for them.

The school has set up a commissary for this purpose, all kinds of food, daily necessities, goods are complete, and friends are cheap, their living allowance is more than ours, and there is also a snack bar, Chinese and Qu dishes, and a complete range of alcohol (but no spirits). Those who don't want to go out, or who are not allowed to go out, can spend a pleasant Sunday here.

But there is one discipline: don't drink too much. Both Zhongqu soldiers are iron-faced and selfless, and they do not discriminate equally. We don't have as much pocket money as our friends, so we don't go to the snack bar, which also means that our friends go more. Just a few tables, stools, and friends are preferred.

Qu soldiers studied military affairs, focusing on learning personal martial arts and the strategy and tactics of platoons, companies, and battalions. The light weapons they use are the latest products that have just left the factory in our country. There is a miniature light machine gun (similar in appearance to the Russian type, but relatively short), which can be loaded with a bayonet, does not have a foot frame, and can use rifle and machine gun bullets generally, so that it is easy to replenish ammunition on the battlefield, and it is very suitable for individuals to fight in any situation.

There are also some Soviet-style light weapons, such as the "Guojunov" heavy machine gun, two wheels, with bulletproof plates, which can shoot horizontally, turn 180 degrees, and can also fire vertically, when the anti-aircraft machine gun hits the plane, the pitch angle is more than 80 degrees, two people are one, and the firepower is extremely strong; There is also the "Bobosha" light machine gun, the loading magazine is a disc, only heavier. These weapons are suitable for use by individual soldiers, as well as for jungle guerrilla warfare.

They spent more time learning military skills than our trainees, so that they could return to their motherland as soon as possible to participate in the liberation war and reunify the motherland (at that time, the southern part of Qu had not yet been liberated). I also learned some cultural knowledge, and learning some culture is to better study military works, and on the other hand, it is also good for the soldiers of the two countries to communicate with each other.

One day in May 1957, Qu Guo's friends were ordered to return to China, and that night, the friends quietly embarked on the way home, without saying goodbye or farewell, which was of course for the sake of secrecy. They were given weapons, clothing, and marching backpacks, but they were not taken with them.
