Volume 1 The First Cry Chapter 15 Out of the Island

After a long boat trip last month, Naohide and the two students felt a little fat due to the lack of exercise, so the three of them began to scare the meat on their bodies - Naohide took the two students to climb Mt. Inasa early in the morning. In fact, fat people are very popular these days, they are either rich or expensive, and they don't have any strength to grow into a fat man? But Zhixiu is still growing their bodies at a young age, so getting fat is purely an illusion.

In the morning, the fog has not dissipated, the dew is very heavy, and the mountain path is also very simple, although the mountain is not high, there are only three dings (Ding is the length unit of Fusang, one ding is about 109 meters), but the three of them are still tired and panting, there is no way, the straw sandals have been slippery and not powerful.

By the time we reached the top of the mountain, the fog had dissipated, the autumn forest was still luxuriant, the weather turned cold, and there were not many mosquitoes.

Nagasaki is located in a basin surrounded by mountains, and from the coastline to the hilly area, the houses of Nagasaki are lined up on the slopes of the hills, and they are scattered because they are built in towns. In later generations, the lights were brilliant at night, with the continuous mountain, and from the port, the lights were like the sea and the stars in the sky were connected, claiming to be a charming scene worth 10 million US dollars, and belonged to the world's three new night scenes.

The whole city is close to the turquoise ocean, there are cliffs to set off around, the vision is broad, the layers are clear, the blue sea, the white sandy beach, the light green residential area, the dark green mountains, there are many hot springs around, there are nearly 600 small islands nearby, the land is undulating, the coastline is intricate, the scenery style of the peninsula, the strait, the bay, the sea mouth and so on is varied, Fuso enjoys the reputation of a summer resort after the founding of the country, and is widely loved by outsiders.

The layout of the whole city is like an amphitheater, and there are two small islands at the pier, Dejima and China-Billashiki, which look like a small fan from the top and a small square chessboard.

To the east is the famous Shimabara Peninsula, which will be part of the future Unzen-Amakusa National Park, and the scenery is also very stunning.

Naohide took the two students back to the travel cage after seeing the sunrise and the sea view, and after eating the tea bowl steam, in order to prevent Matsumae Taro from finding no one, Naohide stayed in the room with the two students all day to study.

As a result, it was not until the next morning that a servant came to visit, saying that Matsumae-sama was having a treat at an izakaya in the evening, and that Naohide was invited to attend on time. At dusk, an izakaya servant came to guide the way, and Naohide became more and more sure that Matsuzen was involved in the izakaya's business, otherwise how could the izakaya be so cooperative.

When I arrived at the izakaya, I met Ken Koishi, a key person who visited Dejima, the Nagasaki Commission. Koishi is the hereditary Nagasaki Governor, and he is a relative of the Japanese official in charge of Dejima's management, "Dejima Otana", so it is easy to bring someone to increase his knowledge.

Koishi instructed Naohide during the banquet.,The current Nagasaki commissioner-sama Izawa just raided the home of the town year to send Takashima Shiro Guard (Takashima Akiho's common name to the outside world).,Because Takashima and Lankoku Merchant House have weapons deals.,So now it's more strict about the management of entry and exit from the island.,Naohide don't leave Koishi to run around by himself in the dejima.,Naohide naturally agreed.。

Naohide intends to flatter, Matsumae is witty, Koishi drinks very happily, during the banquet Naohide took out a set of Edo Kiriko drinking utensils, Kohishi can't put it down, and when the banquet is over, Naohide asks the proprietress to wrap it up and let the servant who came to pick up Koishi take it away.

The next morning, Naohide waited for Xiao Shi at the pier and followed him into the island smoothly.

Dejima is a small artificial island with a length of about 190 meters on the north side, 233 meters on the south side, and 70 meters wide on the east and west sides, with a total area of 3,969 tsubo (13,696 square meters, the size of two standard football fields in later generations), and is connected to the mainland by a bridge. In 1641, the shogunate forced the Rankoku East India Company to move the merchant house from Hirado to Dejima, and the Ranshi people paid 55 yen a year in rent to the townspeople.

The Fuso people are not allowed to enter Dejima except on official business, and the Lan people are not allowed to leave at will. The island includes dozens of buildings, including the residence of the head of the merchant hall, the residence of the merchant librarian, the warehouse, the cooking ground, the bathhouse, the livestock hut, the waiting room for the Fuso officials, and the vegetable garden.

There are about 15 people in the Rankook Merchant Hall, including the Rankook Jiabidan (the director of the Merchant Hall), the second chair, the storekeeper, the clerk, the doctor of the Merchant Hall, the cook, the carpenter, the forge, and the summons (servants of the Kuroto).

The Merchant House was placed under the jurisdiction of the Nagasaki Commission, and Otona, who was usually sent by the Nagasaki Town Governor, was in charge of exchange and cooperation. Dejima Otoshi is the head of the Fuso side of Dejima, and his duties are to monitor the Lan people and assist in the unloading and trading of Lan merchant ships, and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Dejima. Under the name of B, there are more than 100 people, such as the general word, the head of the group, the day exercise, the author, the small envoy, the head of the day, the fire heart, the tanfan (the door), the buyer, the cook, the servant, the boat, the fan, the court, etc.

Visitors other than the Wandering Girl are prohibited from entering or leaving the island, but officials of the Nagasaki Commissioner's Office, Nagasaki Town Nianyo, Dutch Token, Dejima Oto, Kumito, Nikto, Gojo Sho, and Deshima Towngosers are allowed to enter and leave the island during official business.

The area of the island is not large, and it will be done quickly, and Koishi Jian is very satisfied with the rules and regulations of Naoxiu, plus yesterday's glassware Edo Kiriko is really very pleasing to his heart. When he was interested, he took him into the Languan Club. The Orchid Pavilion Clubhouse is the official office of the Orchid Pavilion, which is a two-story wooden building in the style of the Orchid Kingdom, with the first floor being the hall and office space, and the second floor being the owner's bedroom, internal meeting room and other confidential places.

Seeing the familiar officials of the office, the clerk of the Rankan came forward to receive him, and Naohide took advantage of Koishi's inattention to ask the servant of the Rankan to tell Dr. De Vries, "Naohide Edobori is coming to visit".

Just when Naohide was worried that the time was passing too quickly, the second seat of the merchant hall came forward to express his welcome to Koishi's visit, and asked the clerk to invite Koishi to have lunch together, and Koishi's entourage was entertained by the staff of the merchant hall.

There was light on Koishi's face, and he felt that after the Takashima family was raided, the Lankoku Merchant House was much more polite to the samurai of the office, and readily agreed, leaving with the clerk.

Naohide was ushered into a small room by a merchant clerk and waited. After a while, Dr. De Vries appeared, and Dr. De Vries welcomed Naohide's visit, and after greeting each other, Naohide praised the artwork, furniture, and interior furnishings of the mall for being gorgeous, elegant, and chic, which was an eye-opener, and De Vries was very happy about it. After a brief exchange of recent information about each other, Naohide couldn't help but ask directly about the progress of the entrusted book purchase.

Speaking of which, De Vries is also quite strange, one is that Zhixiu buys books directly to give the title and author of the book, and generally Lan scholars entrust the purchase of books to be recommended by Lan people, and the other is that Zhixiu requires that the book version can be in English, Francine, or Lan. He asked Naohide how he knew the title of the book and how he learned other languages, and Naohide apologized, saying that "I don't want to deceive, but it's a matter of confidentiality, and it's inconvenient to tell it openly."

After returning to China, Dr. De Vries wrote a biography of his experiences in Fuso, which mentioned this incident, but historians believe that this incident can only prove that Naoxiu and the Lan people have long been linked, and as for the English, Francian, etc., it is purely a blatant touting of Naoxiu's remarks, and the sycophants stink.

Dutch merchant ships usually used the monsoon to arrive in Nagasaki from Batavia each autumn and returned in the spring of the following year. It's been more than a year since the last Edo meeting, and Dr. De Vries said that most of the books had been delivered, and then gave Naohide an address and a name, saying that in two days, you can just go directly to this Fuso Rangaku doctor to pick up the books, this doctor is his student, and you can definitely rest assured about safety.

Naohide sincerely expressed his gratitude, and presented two golden tickets for the Mitsui family's "two substitute merchants", one for one hundred taels and the other for forty taels, counting the eighty taels of the deposit paid, Naohide gave forty taels more than the original agreed one hundred and eighty taels as a thank you gift, and after receiving the money, Dr. De Vries became more enthusiastic, saying that if there was any need in the future, he could pass on the information through his students. Naohide thanked him again, and because he didn't dare to delay too long in private, Dr. De Vries got up and left.

Naoxiu mixed a Western meal in the merchant house, with vegetable salad, fish steak, Languo pancakes and wine, the Western food of this era is also unique compared to later generations, the servant was surprised to see Naohide skillfully using a knife and fork to eat, and it was funny but made Naoxiu relax a lot.

After eating, Xiaoshi appeared with a red face, and left the island with Naohide, Naohide thanked again, "Thanks to Xiaoshi's face, otherwise Naohide could see such a scene, eye-opening and feasting", Xiaoshi felt that Naohide was quite informed and interesting, and he was also very satisfied.

After the breakup, Naohide returned to his residence, and in order to avoid being seen as flawed, Naohide did not go directly to pick up the book, but took two students to play in Nagasaki for two days.

There are quite a few attractions in Nagasaki:

The Suwa Shrine built on the hillside is relatively large, and the three of them went to visit the shrine and felt that the shrine and scenery were valuable.

The Glasses Bridge is the oldest arched stone bridge in Fuso, with two holes spanning the Ryuchu Island River, and the arched bridge body is reflected in the middle of the water, resembling glasses, hence the name "Glasses Bridge". The Glasses Bridge and the 20 ancient bridges in the vicinity are lined up with geese and geese less than 100 meters apart, forming the "Nagasaki Stone Bridge Group", which is also interesting. Play, delicate look at the history, look at the materials, look at the details of the design, and relax and feel the big heart, it's also good.

There is a heart-shaped stone on the wall next to the Glasses Bridge, and it is said that if you see it and touch it, you will get a happy marriage, and Naohide looks at the solemn appearance of the two students, and thinks it is good.

There are many temples in Fuso, and the shrines are often attached to the temples at this time, which is also a rare sight in later generations.

When you're not playing, you're not going to have to eat a lot of food. Fukusaya's Nagasaki cake, loquat jelly, table feast, Yoshimuneya's chawanshi, Nagasaki assorted noodles, Nagasaki noodle soup, and covered noodles are all smiling.

Nagasaki cake is also called "Castella". When the locals asked what it was, the missionaries said it was a pastry from Castella (Castile is the name of a city in Spain), and the locals mistakenly passed down Castella as the name of the pastry. It was also because of this confectionery that Fuso began to use tamako (eggs) as an important ingredient in confectionery.
