After entering Gui Province, although it was winter, the south was only a little cool, and the large army had gone away, and the military army was also close behind.

In Wushi, our squadron set up a "front station" squad, and I was also stained. Each person was given a Type 38 rifle, a few rows of bullets and a few grenades*, and the number of people and weapons and equipment of the squad were greatly strengthened compared to the time when they were in Yuzhang, and the squadron leader explained what might happen on the road and how to deal with it. The team set out from Wushi on January 2, 1950.

The men's squadron of the military university walked, and the women's squadron continued to march by boat towards Guixian. For the sake of safety, the follow-up troops set up a special containment team to take in people who had fallen behind due to illness, and the troops repeatedly stressed that they were not allowed to be left behind, and once they fell behind, they would be in danger of being killed.

Our "front station" team arrived at Longxu first, set up a house, prepared food, and waited for the large army to come. The large army is concentrated in Gui Province, and there are units of various field armies and troops of border columns, and it is a little difficult to find a place to live; we must first let other combat units have a place to camp, but as soon as we say that the army is large, some units will be drawn ahead of schedule and take the initiative to vacate space. We are really moved by the style of the fraternal troops in taking the initiative to be humble and keeping the difficulties to themselves and the conveniences to others.

On January 5th, we arrived at the Lion's Cave in Xi County, and because there were too few residents, we had to let some people sleep in the fields, and we raised some food with silver dollars.

On January 6, he arrived in Wuluo and Nandu, and slept in the fields, but it was raining at night and he couldn't sleep. On January 7, 8 and 9, they arrived in Nan County, Yang County and Rong County. The troops rested for a day in Rong County. Rong County produces Shatian pomelo, the taste is sweet, the skin can be used in medicine, and aromatic oil can also be refined, it is a precious fruit, so you can only buy the peeled pomelo on the street, and you can also buy it with clothes exchange.

On January 11, 1951, he arrived in Liu County. I was approved as a member of the New Democratic Youth League, and joining the Youth League is a major event in the political life of every young person and a new starting point on the road of my life. I was 23 years old.

In Liuxian County, the troops were given new shoes and socks, and everyone was smiling and overjoyed. The cloth shoes we used to wear were made with love by the people of the liberated areas, and there was a lot of rain in the south, and the soles of the shoes were worn out by marching on the sand every day. The new galoshes were captured by the enemy, and the surplus was sent to us in addition to satisfying the combat troops.

The shoes were made of rubber soles, the soles were elastic, and the upper was made of straw green canvas, which was really a high-end product at the time, and everyone enjoyed it for the first time. It is said to be made in a foreign country, and everyone loves it. The girls' squadron was also issued with big men's shoes, how could their petite feet be "enjoyed"! But they have their own way: stuff cotton in their shoes, or wrap a few more layers of cloth around their feet, or wear a few more pairs of socks. Soft soles that everyone likes.

On January 12, we arrived in Yushi, where there were many inhabitants and all the troops could live in their houses. I prepared food for the troops as soon as possible, but fortunately, I could use the new yuan to go shopping, and I bought a lot of vegetables, grain, and meat.

Jade City is a large city with a large population and abundant products. Just in time for the market day, the market is booming. We bought some daily necessities, and some people exchanged extra clothes for fruits to eat. Yulin produces a kind of extra-large Hu Luo Bu, which is more than twice as large as the Hu Luo Bu of Yuzhang Province, and is extraordinarily long, reaching more than 30 centimeters, sweet in taste, and delicious to stir-fry. At that time, I thought that it would be great to promote this high-quality variety to the whole country when the whole country was liberated. Yushi is also rich in a kind of white fine homespun cloth, which has excellent texture and is exported to Suicheng. The dinner was particularly hearty at the stalls, and the special kimchi was added to the unique flavor that satisfied everyone. At about five o'clock the army arrived, and when everything was arranged, we hurried away.

The next day, I originally planned to live in Shinan, but when I went to Shinan, I saw that it was already full of logistics troops advancing westward. After asking for instructions, it was decided to live in Xingye and walk more than 20 miles. In Shinan, there are many and cheap eggs here, two cents a piece, we eat egg fried rice, plus pickled vegetables and hot sauce, eat sweat, and ask the shopkeeper to cook a lot of eggs to take with him, but also to the head of the team to taste fresh.

On the evening of January 13, he arrived in Xingxian County. There are not many houses, and some landlords are not allowed to enter the house, let alone live in them, and many families are asked to do so. There is a big temple in the village, which can accommodate hundreds of people, and the brigade headquarters arranges to live in the temple and camp in the other. After the troops arrived, we made arrangements, and we continued to hurry, leaving the eggs with the leaders of the brigade and squadron before leaving.

On January 14, he arrived at Qiaowei, which is under the jurisdiction of Guixian County. By doing the work of the local gentlemen, they can live in the houses of the common people. The gentleman said: The reactionaries and the bandits are one family, and the masses are frightened, and they do not understand the army, so they do not want to keep the guests. What he said is also the truth, and the masses cannot be blamed for not understanding human feelings. We tried not to bother them and rested here for two days.

On January 17, 1950, he arrived in Guixian County and lived in Tang Town.

Guixian is famous for its silver. The silver ornaments on women and children are shiny, but they are only small gadgets, not large items. Guixian is the hometown of General Shi, the winged king of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and it was here that General Shi unveiled the banner of anti-Qing Dynasty. It's a pity that he was disloyal in the late festival, made a split, and lost the Dadu River. Rest for three days in Guixian County, make a summary, listen to reports, and lay out the next arduous march route. The girls' squadron arrived on the 16th, they are the "petite sons" of the sky, from Suicheng to Guixian by boat, arrived a day early, washed clean, radiant, unlike our dusty and pyrotechnic faces, haggard faces and still spirits. Those who play the front station are more mobile and comfortable, but they are also tired enough. When you go, you must go fast, to the campsite, you must have a good room in advance, prepare food, use, implement the "three packs", as soon as the army arrives, set off after the placement, whether it is dark or rainy, although it is hard, because there are talking and laughing along the way, the sea and the sky are air-conditioned, the spirit is comfortable, free, and everyone is happy. I have trained a pair of hard feet when I walk for a long time, and I really have worked hard to hone a tough guy.

It is hundreds of kilometers from Guixian to Luwei, and it takes four or five days to arrive. This area is a mountainous area, and if you take the mountain road, it is relatively close, but the military leaders have stipulated that you can only walk along the highway, because the mountain road is easy to be attacked by bandits, but the villages and towns on the side of the highway are not large, the population is small, and the products are not abundant, and it is increasingly difficult to resettle the troops to eat and live. In particular, it was difficult to raise food, there was no complete military station, and there was no food to supply the passing troops, so each soldier had to carry five catties of rice, otherwise he would go hungry. Wherever there are private houses, we try our best to arrange for them to live in private houses, and some ordinary people do not understand the army and do not let them live, so they have to camp in the wild.
