Chapter 64: Return to the Altar
In 1965, the first class of sixth-grade students graduated from the primary school for the children of farm workers, and it was time to move on to junior high school. With the approval of the Mengna General Field, Yongchun Farm School added four junior high school classes, plus six classes in the primary school, a total of 10 classes, and the whole school has 3 to 400 students.
The leaders of Yongchun Farm decided to ask me to preside over the work and run this primary school with a junior high school. After seven years away from teaching, I returned to teaching again in August 1965. First of all, it is necessary to solve the problem of teachers, and according to my usual understanding, I submitted a report to the field leaders on the transfer of several comrades to teach in the school, including college students, technical secondary school students, and normal students, and also proposed the problems of solving the problems of funding and improving the conditions for running the school, all of which were approved by the field leaders.
The school does not have a party branch secretary, and after consulting the party committee, it was agreed to set up a school affairs committee, which is composed of five members, including the directors of the four departments of teaching affairs, general affairs, the Communist Youth League (including the Young Pioneers), and logistics, and each has its own responsibilities. I worked out the rules and regulations and work plans, selected the class teachers, arranged the curriculum in the teaching office, and announced them to the teachers at the beginning of the school year, so that all the work was carried out in an orderly manner.
Each company has only the first to second grade of primary school, and the students in each company who are far away from home eat at school, and a few workers are transferred to form a logistics group to open up the wasteland and grow vegetables. Later, Wang Changli, a branch secretary, was sent to the field, Wang Changli, who was in charge ----of the teacher's political ideology, and without the core of the party, it was difficult to carry out all the work. It is a matter of course that the party is in charge of the school, so that I can spare more energy to focus on teaching and management.
Under the deep care of the leaders of the branch, after several years of hard work, Wufenchang School (i.e., Yongchun School) has built two classrooms with blue bricks and tiled roofs, which is the school with the best running conditions in the entire Mengna Farm School. The school has a library, laboratories (but lacks physical and chemical instruments), a stadium, and sports equipment, and basically has the conditions for running a middle school.
In order to comprehensively implement the education policy, the educated people will be developed in moral, intellectual, and physical education, and become educated workers with socialist consciousness. The farm department has set aside a rubber forest as a practice base for students, which is under the management of the school, and the farm allocates some management fees according to the number of acres to subsidize the school to purchase books and teaching equipment. In addition, the farm is assigned the task of growing peanuts and corn, and can only attend classes four and a half days a week (eight classes a day), the rest of the time is labor, and students have to help the school grow vegetables during extracurricular activities.
There are more than 100 people in the school to eat, and only three vegetable growers are hard enough. At that time, on Sundays, I had to do voluntary labor, helping the production team weed, picking rubber seeds (rubber seeds can be used to extract oil and make soap), and during the busy farming season, I had to take senior students to the fields and cut crops. Despite being so busy, our teachers are hardworking, dedicated, and everyone works selflessly.
At that time, teachers' salaries were low (the highest was only 35 yuan), their lives were hard, they prepared classes and changed homework under dim oil lamps at night, not to mention cultural life, and they could not even afford to subscribe to a newspaper, but the teachers kept in mind the great trust of the party -- they regarded teaching children well as their sacred duty, made selfless contributions, and worked hard to cultivate educated workers with socialist consciousness.
In 1977, I was appointed as the principal of Yongchun School and Yongfeng School, which are seven kilometers apart.
First of all, I have strengthened the education of teachers' ethics and style of teaching, divided them into two ways to look at their achievements and problems, tried to give priority to the overall situation, sought common ground while reserving small differences, stabilized the contingent of teachers as soon as possible, eliminated contradictions among teachers, united the vast number of teachers, and shifted the focus of the school to teaching.
I don't care about past suspicions, let them put down their baggage and work hard. Yongchun Farm School teachers have fewer contradictions between them, and there are more contradictions between teachers in Yongfeng Farm School, so I adopted the method of teacher transfer and exchange, and transferred teachers with less faction and decent style to Yongfeng School (such as Ma Zigui, Zhang Shengxin, Qin Jianwei, etc.), and also asked the field to send a branch secretary Huang Shoumin (formerly Yongchun Farm) to be responsible for the ideological and political work of the teachers. After winning the majority and uniting the main forces, the chaotic situation of Yongfeng School was quickly changed.
At that time, in order to maintain social stability, the army sent representatives of the army to various units. The representatives of the school army saw that I had a decent style, did not engage in factionalism, understood school management, and had authority among teachers, so they were very supportive and trusted in my work, which made my work a great improvement, and I also boldly took responsibility, and the quality of education in the two schools was quickly improved. The school has a party secretary, a military representative and the principal, and the three parties respect each other, jointly maintain collective leadership, do not engage in small actions behind the scenes, work with tacit understanding, and get along very harmoniously.
My wife and I taught at Yongchun School at the beginning of the school, so my family has been settled in Hedong Yongchun School, I am now the principal of Yongchun and Yongfeng two schools, and I have a great responsibility, in order to do a good job in Yongchun and Yongfeng These two schools, I moved my luggage to Yongfeng School, focusing on Yongfeng School, Yongfeng and Yongchun both. I work at Yongfeng School from Monday to Wednesday, and I go to Yongchun School from Thursday to Saturday to inspect the arrangement. The military deputies saw that I had grasped the teaching work in an orderly manner and said with appreciation: "The ginger is still old and spicy. I smiled and said, "Wherever the party is pointing, I will run to." He said: "You Lao Zhang is still in the style of the army." ”
I served as the principal of Yongchun and Yongfeng until August 1979. I re-established a new team for Yongfeng School, and all aspects of the school were regularized, so I resigned as the principal of Yongfeng School and returned to the old base - Yongchun School.
Since I came to the frontier in February 1959, we have not had time to go back to our hometown, and we usually write letters to report our safety. In 1970, one day, my wife looked at my brother's letter and said sadly: I have been marrying you from Yuzhang Province to Nanzhao Province for more than ten years, from a girl to a mother of three children, My father died in 1966, I didn't look at it, how sad I was.
I also felt that it was time to go back and see my mother, brother, and sister. So in August 1970, our family of five (Xiaoying was 11 years old, Xiaoyun was 9 years old, and Xiaola was 6 years old) returned to Wenshan County, our hometown of Chaolonging. My mother-in-law is much older, my brother and sister-in-law are middle-aged, and the flesh and blood are very cordial, and the lovesickness is indescribable.
At that time, Zou Ping's family was sent to Li Dong Keng. There were only three sisters enrolled: an older brother and an older sister, and later we went to visit my sister and brother-in-law's family who lived in the countryside. My family went to Island Province in 1957, my sister was married, and my younger brother was sent to Tangtou Village, and we all went to visit relatives and friends one by one. We lived in Wenshan for a month, blessed each other and took care of ourselves, said goodbye with tears, and returned to Nanzhao.
In April 1974, we left Xiaoying, Xiaoyun, and Xiaola to take Xiaochun and Pingsheng to their hometown for the second time to visit relatives. This time, everyone's living environment is much better, and the mood for playing is more comfortable.
At that time, there was a shortage of materials in the frontier, and there was no meat or oil to eat, so the mother of the enrollment prepared more than 30 catties of lard and a lot of bacon for us to take back to Nanzhao. A month has passed in the blink of an eye, and everyone has to say goodbye again.
