Chapter Twenty-Three: The Great Operation (Part II)

Our gang had a bumpy journey and arrived at the city called Page at nearly eight o'clock in the evening. After we arrived, Semolov contacted Ivan, and after a brief exchange, Semolov led us to a place called St. IstvΓ‘n's Square.

As soon as we arrived at the square, a guy stared at us. However, the man was quickly recognized by Semolov and the six men he had brought with him. Because this man was one of the first people to come from Russia. Semolov told me that this man's name was Pavrov.

The fellow, Pavrov, hooked up with Semolov, and then he took us to a restaurant not far from the square, saying that according to Ivan's instructions, we had arranged for everyone to have a good meal first, which was considered to celebrate the successful completion of the mission.

During the meal, he told us that the hotel had been booked and that we could go there to rest when we were full of food and drink. And tomorrow morning, our liaison in Croatia, that is, Rebic, and our target, Berezov, will be picked up and left the country. And the others will stay here, waiting for Ivan to come.

"Ivan? Ivan coming here? When I heard that Ivan was coming, I couldn't help but ask.

"Yes. Ivan came here. There will be him and you who will deploy new operations. Pavrov replied.

Semolov looked at him and said, "Do you know what it is?" β€œ

Pavrov shook his head and said, "I don't know. I was just sent here to pick you up and help you get things done. I don't know anything else. ”

"Okay... Semolov nodded and looked at me, "I feel that what Mr. Rebic said right now, I guess it's not a good thing." ”

Rebic smiled as he ate, "Huh." What do you think? Soon you'll see that I'm not right at all. ”

"I want to know something... Berezov, who was getting better and better, opened his mouth to say that he could not eat anything now and was just drinking water on the side.

I looked at him and said, "What's the matter?" Is it about the situation of the seventeenth innings? Aren't we already a good answer here now? ”

Berezov nodded, "I know that. But what about people? What about our human losses? ”

For this question, not only Berezov, but also Rebich, who was sitting on the sidelines, seemed more interested. He didn't hide it, but looked at me generously and waited for my answer.

"The losses are huge." I whispered, "Paul's leg is broken, and I don't think I'll be running around anymore." β€œ

Berezov nodded, he didn't ask me what I meant by the big loss. I think he understood what I meant somewhat. "But we won in the end, didn't we? What the hell is going on with this whole thing? Am I going to ask the old guy? β€œ

I glanced at him, and the term "old fellow" was probably on Berezov's lips a lot except for me. I nodded and said, "Yes." He'll have to tell you that. β€œ

"Okay." Berezov pointed to Semolov and the people around him, "These people are all newcomers?" β€œ

"Yes." I nodded, "They were all handed over by Russia to the Seventeenth Bureau." They are now the people of the seventeenth innings. β€œ

Hearing me say this, Berezov nodded again and said, "Then I will understand the meaning of what you mean by the big loss." β€œ

Semolov and I looked at each other and did not speak. I don't want to say anything about the loss, it's not a good memory, I don't want to think about it, and I don't want to answer questions like this over and over again.

After a hearty meal, we followed Pavrov to a hotel not far from the restaurant. The room was ready for us, and after we had each checked in, I took a hot shower and hid a pistol under my pillow

In the meantime, I slept beautifully. I don't dare to relax too much, after all, this is not Ukraine, it is not Russia, this is still in NATO's sphere of influence and so on.

I slept well until I was woken up by a knock on the door. I looked at the time, half past five in the morning. It wasn't dawn yet.

I looked at Berezov, who was in the same room as me, and he was already awake and looking at the door. I pulled my gun from under my pillow and slowly got up from the bed when I heard a voice outside.

"Gypsies. Come on. I know you're awake, can you open the door quickly? β€œ

It was Ivan's voice, and I put down my gun and quickly walked to the door, but I still looked out through the cat's eye first, and then slowly opened the door.

Ivan saw me open the door, squeezed out a smile and said, "Do you see clearly?" Let me in. β€œ

"Why are you so early?" I opened the door and let him in.

"Is it early? Didn't that Pavrov tell you that I was going to arrive today? Ivan said and walked in and glanced at Berezov by the way, "It seems that you are in good shape." The game Molov and I said much better. β€œ

"Would you like to get you a damn pill too? Then you'll know exactly where I'm now. Berezov said angrily.

Then there was another knock on my door, and Ivan looked at me and said, "It should be Semolov." β€œ

I walked to the door and took a look, and it was indeed Semolov standing in the doorway, and I opened the door to let him in. Ivan looked at us when he saw Semolov come in, "Several." Forehead.. It should be said that it is the two of you. We have a new mission. β€œ

"We know that. What to do? Continue to save people? I asked.

"It's not. This time it's to catch someone. Ivan said.

"Running here to arrest someone? A defector? Semolov asked.

"Exactly. And I think you're all interested in catching this guy. Ivan smiled.

"What do you mean? We all know this man? It can't be the old guy who defected, right?! Berezov said suddenly.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud when he said this, maybe this is what Berezov dared to say, since then he was training, Berezov seems to have always had a lot of opinions about these two guys because he and a woman had a tryst with the old guy and Ivan. Anyway, I don't think I'm going to make this kind of joke casually, and it's in this kind of serious setting to discuss the task.

Ivan looked at Berezov with a cold face, "It seems that your state is really not very good." After he finished speaking, he looked at me and Semolov, "It's the Ukrainian." That is, Kutcher's boss, the guy from the Security Service of Ukraine who has already run. β€œ

Indeed, when I heard Ivan speak of this man, I immediately came to my senses. This man made us miserable, and at the last moment he teamed up with Zakaev to lure the snake out of the hole, and we almost gave it to him. Thinking of this, I looked at Semolov sitting next to me, his whole expression was cold at the moment, if we talk about the last loss, Semolov's team is the only one left.

"Where is he? How do we do it? Semolov asked in a low voice.
