Chapter Ninety-One: Mohist Thought

Wei Ziheng slowly left the house rented by the Mo family, looking a little puzzled along the way, and when he listened to Mo Zhai's description of the Mo family's thoughts, he was suddenly a little shocked.

He kept his head down all the way, as if thinking about something, and he began to have some doubts about himself, the Confucianism and Taoism he had always believed in. He began to recognize some of the ideological trends brought about by the Hundred Schools of Thought, perhaps this is everyone's different perception of the world.

Confucianism is still relatively popular now, although the kings of various countries do not support him, but his ideas are indeed the most widely circulated. His ideas are intended for many people, and they cover almost the entire country's society, but there are some aspects of his thinking that are not good, such as his rejection of farming and doing these things. This caused some protests from the farmers.

The ideas of the Mohists were mainly concentrated on the low-level craftsmen and ordinary scholars. In Mo Zhai's narrative, the Mohists seem to be good at some cutting-edge science and technology, and seem to be a pioneer in the study of natural sciences. A lot of shocking ideas have been put forward, and a lot of experiments have been done.

The meaning of Mohist ideological exploration is very strong. Mohist is a scholarly group that combines "scholars" and "craftsmen", with a collection of two intellectual traditions: scholars and craftsmen. As a representative of the handicraftsmen, the Mohists not only have a set of ideas and doctrines that represent the interests of the handicraftsmen, but also embody the characteristics of the handicraftsmen, who provide the rulers of various countries not only with the "warrior" spirit of the Mohists, but also with the material and technical strength that is urgently needed in the struggle for hegemony of various countries. From this point of view, it is inevitable that Mohist thought will continue to grow, expand and propagate.

In terms of military affairs, the Mohists also seem to have mastered a method of warfare called Mechanical. Only wood is used through different structures and combinations to form a set of offensive and defensive systems.

Five are mentioned in the previous brief narrative alone.

Ballista

The crossbow cart is a large mechanical device that can be released at the same time with 60 large crossbow arrows and countless small crossbow arrows placed on the city wall, which requires ten people to drive, and the most ingenious is that the tail of the crossbow arrow with a length of ten feet is tied with a rope, and it can be quickly rolled up and withdrawn with a roller after shooting. If it can be widely used in warfare, I am afraid that it will be a great weapon of death on the battlefield.

Transfiguration

The ramjet is also a large transmitter placed on the city wall, six feet long, operated by two people, and unlike the repeater, the ram is more flexible, allowing one person to shoot arrows while the other person rotates the frame. If this weapon really exists, then I am afraid that no city in the world will be easily breached.

Borrow a car

The exterior of the car is covered with iron, and part of it is buried in the ground, and it is a machine that can project charcoal fire, which is controlled by multiple people to defend against enemy siege teams.

The actual mechanics are obviously not as magical and amazing as they seem, but with today's productivity, it is not easy to design and build such a complex machine.

Scouting wood kites

This is a wooden kite that can be responsible for high-altitude reconnaissance, which can assist the defenders to eliminate all human interference - feints, ambushes, etc., so that the defenders can judge the enemy situation more objectively. This new way of detecting the enemy sounds simply shocking.

Wei Zihengshu had read almost all the ancient military books before, and he had never heard of this kind of flying birds circling to observe the enemy. This new way of thinking, Wei Ziheng was a little uncomfortable for a while.

The most powerful one is the next one.

Training puppets

The puppets made by the Mojia machine have all kinds of unexpected attack methods, through some wooden and iron weapons, plus some special combination structures, through the internal complex precision interspersed to complete different forms of attacks, it is said that it can also be moved, and it can automatically fight without manually triggering the mechanism, and it has amazing combat effectiveness.

In Mo Zhai's description, it seems that this kind of puppet has already begun to scale. First of all, without discussing whether this is true or not, who can judge the battle without people from this kind of thinking, and use puppets to fight instead of people?

All kinds of ideas are without exception, they are detached from the world but closely related to the world. The ideas of the Mohists are concentrated among the low-level craftsmen. By studying some science and technology to create mechanical techniques, the Mohists with such exploratory value will definitely become a group of people in the future.

Mozi, who is good at handicraft and scientific research, narrates to us the outline of a Mohist mechanism and some of the philosophical ideas of the Mohists in an almost expressive tone. Wei Ziheng walked on the road with his head down, only looking at the road brain, but he was still thinking about the Mo family.

It's amazing!

After returning to the room, he found Wang Xu for the first time and described it in a simple way, saying what he saw and heard.

Wang Xu didn't believe it at first, thinking that this was some people's nonsense, but the more he listened to it, the more he felt a hint of magic, as if he had heard of this Mo family somewhere.

Wang Xu said with a shocked face: "There are still such thoughts and tricks in this world? I'm afraid this is not something that mortals can forge, right? ”

Wei Ziheng said with a serious face: "How could I lie to you? I'm actually wondering if what the guy named Mo Zhai really said makes sense? But as he progressed, I felt more and more that maybe it was true. The Mohist ideology is very simple, unlike Confucianism, which must be strict, so that people from all over the world can come together to believe. Compared with Confucianism, Mohists look at the world from the opposite side of him. ”

Wang Xu felt a trace of interest at this moment, and he asked curiously: "How much have you heard about this Mojia thought, can you tell me about it?" ”

Wei Ziheng imitated Mo Zhai's tone and described some core and important points of Mohist thought in relatively concise language. Equal love between people is the interpersonal norm of the Mohists, which is called concurrent love. Opposing wars of aggression is one of Mozi's core approaches to war, which is called non-offensive. Advocating thrift and opposing extravagance and waste, it is opposed to the Confucian funeral and generous ceremony, which is called thrift. Attaching importance to inheriting the cultural wealth of predecessors, constantly absorbing and finding new ways of survival in many thoughts, it is called Ming Ghost. Grasping the laws of nature, conforming to the development of nature, and achieving peaceful coexistence between man and nature is called Tianzhi.

After listening to this, Wang Xu suddenly pondered, he sat on the chair, did not move, just waved his hand and said, "You go out first, I think about it." Oh yes, where does that Mo Zhai's Mo family live? ”

"It's a small town outside the city to the east, and it takes about half an hour to walk there." Wei Ziheng answered truthfully, and at the same time, he also knew that the Mohist thought he was narrating had deeply stimulated Wang Xu. After all, his goal is also to become a master of thought, and before having his own thoughts, he must first absorb the advantages and disadvantages of other people's thoughts, so as to make his own judgments.

Another thought, which is diametrically opposed to the current Confucianism, is undoubtedly a great impact point. There doesn't seem to be any problem with both being taken out at the same time. But the gap is wide.

Confucianism accepts reality. Roll around in reality. It's a dear love. Everyone has it.

Mohists are opposed to reality. Struggling in reality. It's non-kinship love. Everyone has it.

Confucianism: the idea of benevolent government, advocating benevolence, "do not do to others what you do not want to be done to yourself", "the noble and the lowly are orderly" and "the mandate of heaven is used"

Mojia: advocate both love, non-attack, and monks! Against the war!!

Confucianism is an ideology that regards Confucius as its master, so it is also called Confucius, which has had a significant impact on the current Zhou Tianzi and the princes and countries and continues to this day. Before Confucianism, the aristocracy and freedmen in ancient society received the traditional socialization education of the six virtues (wisdom, faith, sanctity, benevolence, righteousness, and loyalty), the six elements (filial piety, friendship, harmony, marriage, renunciation, and compassion), and the six arts (etiquette, music, archery, royalty, calligraphy, and mathematics) through "teachers" and "Confucianism".

In the long run, Confucianism is actually a high development of ancient philosophy. From the point of view of the content of teaching, the social education in ancient China was completely based on the cultural elements such as values, habits, conventions, behavioral norms and norms formed by the Chinese people in a specific living environment for a long time.

Confucianism absorbed these cultural elements in their entirety and rose to the level of systematic theory. Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, broke for the first time the monopoly of education by the ruling class in the old days, and changed "learning in the government" to "education without class", so that traditional cultural education spread to the entire nation.

In this way, Confucianism has a solid psychological foundation for the people, is accepted by the whole society, and gradually Confucianized the whole society.

At the same time, it rose to the national level, and although Confucius was ostracized by various countries because his idea of small people and widows did not apply to princes, some other ideas of Confucianism were deeply loved by Zhou Tianzi. Because it is believed that if Confucianism is promoted, it can promote people's worship of Zhou Tianzi. After all, in the face of Confucianism, which is rigorous and complete, many things can be explained and answered with the current Confucianism. It is the most widely used thought in the world today. It is also the closest to reality and philosophy. It is contrary to Taoism in philosophical views, and contrary to Moism in thought.

Mohist is a high degree of natural science and humanistic thought, and Confucianism is different from the universality, Mohist has very high requirements for its Mohist disciples, to achieve a degree of recognition of nature and return to nature, so that everyone must have noble character and cognition, and constantly hone the body and mind. This is very difficult for the average person to do.

But from another point of view, it seems that it can also be understood in this way.

The Mohist group was the political, academic and educational representative of the craftsmen and the nascent individual farmers at that time. In the collapse of slavery in the Zhou royal family, the emancipation of productive forces, and the practice of handicraft production provided the Mohists with rich scientific materials. Nowadays, many technologies exist in the form of ancestral secret recipes, and many technologies are invented and then lost, lost and reinvented, and presented low-level repeated inventions in the form of secret recipes. Some workshops have monopolies and super-profits, and they have no incentive for technological innovation. In addition, craftsmen are generally illiterate, which is not conducive to technical summary, dissemination, communication and theoretical innovation, and most of the technology can only be slowly transmitted by master and apprentice. Moreover, the belittlement of craftsmen by the Zhou Tianzi Four People's System is also not conducive to technological progress. The Mohists, on the other hand, responded to the needs of the times and helped the low-level skilled workers of the princes of various countries to build a stable wisdom inheritance system, and the teaching content of the Mohists was agriculture, handicrafts, military equipment manufacturing, logic, and early natural science experiments. In the process of handicraft manufacturing, the Mohists found that it was possible to find out the causal relationship through systematic experiments, and they could be summarized, recorded and passed on, effectively avoiding duplication. Therefore, the Mohists attached great importance to name debate and experimentation. In addition, the income of the Mohist is distributed to the group through the Mojia system, so as to prevent the occurrence of the master's skills and the occurrence of a hand.

From this point of view, Mohist thought also liberated a large part of the people at the bottom of many societies, which is different from Confucianism.

Wei Ziheng sat there and seemed to be in a daze, his thoughts had never been so numerous as they were today. He kept thinking, after all, he used to study Confucianism, and even Zhou Tianzi began to implement it.

But what seemed to be an iron law before, now it is like refreshing the three views and seeing a new world.

What kind of school of thought is Mohist? Just a few simple descriptions can already shock people, not to mention those Mojia tricks that only hear and can't hear their shapes.
