Chapter 10 Concerns

Sitting on the red couch in the Gryffindor common room, Carl kept reading a copy of "History of Magic" in his hand, trying to make himself a little sleepy, but the more he read it, the more refreshed he became.

He had insomnia, and for the first time since he had crossed over.

It wasn't because of the excitement of arriving at Hogwarts, but because he couldn't figure out what kind of secrets he was hiding that would make Dumbledore look at him differently.

He thought of many possibilities, but none of them were reliable.

Could it be because that dead has fallen in love with the master's male sex? Carl couldn't help but shudder, banishing this unreliable idea out of his head.

For Dumbledore, there is still a respect in his heart, after all, he is recognized as the greatest wizard of the 20th century, and what he does is worthy of the word great.

Banishing all unreliable thoughts out of his head, Carl concentrated on the "History of Magic" in front of him, hoping to fall asleep in a daze.

And then, like that, he kept to see the dawn.

Damn Dumbledore! After being fiercely ridiculed by the early Weasley twins with a pair of panda eyes, Karl cursed in his heart, and the shred of respect in his heart had long been thrown out of the clouds.

After breakfast with the twins, Carl took out his class schedule to see what his first class was, and then he found out that September 2, 1990 was Sunday.

So, he was ridiculed by the twins again.

Then, after a flurry of words from the twins, such as "Oh my God, it's Sunday!" and "Who will go to the library on the first day of school?", Carl heads to the Hogwarts library alone.

The moment he arrived at the library, looking at the rows of bookshelves and the dense number of books on them, Carl felt that he was so moved that he was about to cry.

The library was empty, except for the caretaker, Mrs. Pince, who remained at her post. Seeing Carl's arrival, the latter's eyes widened in surprise, and he even forgot to sternly tell Carl not to spoil her precious books.

Truth be told, after all these years as a librarian, it was the first time that Mrs. Pince had ever seen a young wizard come to the library on the first day of school, and it was a Sunday.

Mrs. Flushes nodded politely, and Karl didn't look for books to read in the first place, but went back and forth through all the bookshelves in the entire library, except for the forbidden section.

He walked carefully, stopping for a long time in front of each shelf, looking at what was still muttering to his mouth, until he had finished the last shelf, and it was almost time for supper.

Greet Mrs. Pinth again, and with the latter's strange look in her eyes, Karl walked out of the library.

- He memorized the titles of all the books.

Carl didn't go to the library again that day, and after dinner, he sat on the couch in the common room and mentally divided the books in the library into categories according to their names.

It was already eleven o'clock after all this, and Carl was finally completely sleepy.

Back in his dorm room, where he turned down an invitation from a few first-graders to play Crackle Explode, Carl collapsed on the bed and fell asleep in less than two minutes.

This sleep kept him asleep until the next morning, and when he opened his eyes again, his head was still groggy.

Relying on the talent of memorability to memorize things is too much brainpower, and Carl secretly admonishes himself not to do it in the future, and it will be a loss if he becomes a fool because of it.

Unable to do so, Carl resisted the urge to find a book to read, threw his head up on the bed and looked at the ceiling, and waited until his meal was served.

......

"Mr. Cooper, please define the dark arts. Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Richard Harris said.

The old man looked even older than Dumbledore, and I heard that he would be retiring after this year.

"Black magic, also known as black witchcraft, is a general term for magic whose primary purpose is to harm others. ”

"Good, Gryffindor plus two points. ”

"Mr. Cooper, please name the main action you take when you cast the spell. ”

"A wave, then a shake. ”

"Good, Gryffindor plus one point!"

"Mr. Cooper, please give a brief description of the precautions for Transfiguration. ”

"When transfiguing, it's important to swing your wand firmly and decisively. Do not swing or turn the wand unnecessarily, or the transformation will definitely fail. Before using the Transfiguration Charm, draw a clear picture in your mind of what you want the object to become. Beginners should pronounce the spell clearly, while advanced wizards don't need to say the spell out loud. Incomplete deformations are difficult to correct, but you still have to try. It is irresponsible and dangerous to have a rabbit head on top of a footstool. Pronouncing 'Reinstate!' should restore the object or creature to its original state. Large creatures are difficult to shapeshift, unless powerful wizards with great skills know their limits. ”

"Gryffindor plus five points!"

"Cooper, what do I get if I add daffodil root powder to wormwood infusion?"

"Uh, a suit of water of life and death. ”

"If you were to find a piece of bezoar, where would you find it?"

"The stomach of a cow?"

"What is the difference between scapholoid aconitum and wolf venom aconitum?"

"Looks like the same kind?"

"Hmph, sit down, why don't you write it all down?"

In class, being called up by the teacher to answer questions and get extra points has almost become Carl's daily routine in the first week.

This should be a good thing, but a fool can tell it's not quite right.

For no reason, the teachers paid too much attention to him, and even the savior did not have such treatment.

So now, on the afternoon of Friday's Potions class, he was on the eighth floor, at the door of the headmaster's office.

He was going to ask Dumbledore for clarification.

Note 1: The first-year curriculum should be the same for all students, meaning that Snape should have taught the same thing in Carl's first Potions class as Harry.
