Chapter 40: The Truth
A month passed like this.
During the month, Carl was not idle for a day, all of which was helping his uncle's family move.
The Cullens had already moved out first, just three days after they had killed the three alien vampires.
Bella and Edward went away together, and even became a vampire before the original book, which Carl didn't expect.
He thought that his appearance would change the tragic fate of the girl.
Yes, miserable.
On the surface, although there will be some tribulations ahead, the prince and Cinderella end up living happily ever after, with a fairytale-like ending, but is that really the case?
On the way to the airport, Louise asked, "Carl, I have a question with your dad?"
Carl looked at his adoptive parents, waiting for their questions.
After a moment's hesitation, Louise spoke, "Why don't wizards turn themselves into vampires?"
Karl raised an eyebrow.
At this time, he had already told his adoptive parents all the causes and consequences of the incident.
Therefore, it is not difficult for the two to ask this question.
"Heartbeat?" Karl teased.
He spoke to his adoptive parents, causing the two of them to laugh.
Carl looked out the car window and saw a dense forest.
As if he was saying to his adoptive parents, and as if he was saying to himself, "Handsome appearance, great strength, eternal life, if you add the mana that the wizard himself has, isn't it a god?"
Nick and Louise nodded involuntarily.
"Of course it's not that simple!" Karl said amusedly.
"No wizard would want to be a vampire. Carl retracted his gaze and smiled at his adoptive parents.
The two looked puzzled.
Karl shook his head and said, "A person, since they were transformed into vampires, they are no longer the same person, just like ghosts, vampires are neither alive nor dead. β
Nick and Louise looked dazed.
Carl patiently explained, "A vampire looks like a normal person except for his bloodthirsty nature. But in reality, they are no longer the same selves they once were. β
"Essentially, when a person is turned into a vampire, that person is actually dead, and all that remains is a perfect shell. β
"All the actions of vampires come from the remnants of his lifetime memories, their bodies are permanently solidified, making them look like they will never age, but their souls have disappeared from their bodies. β
"Honey, you mean?" Nick and Louise stared at him with wide eyes.
"Yes. Carl nodded.
"As a simple example, if I were turned into a vampire, I wouldn't be Carl Cooper anymore, and I'd be dead. It's just that I won't think so after being converted, he'll still think he's still alive, he'll thinkβ"
"Carl! don't say any more! we get it!" Nick interrupted Carl.
"My dear, how can you give yourself an example. Louise said reproachfully.
She threw her arms around Carl.
Carl didn't refuse, and let Louise take him over, lean into her arms, and close his eyes comfortably.
He wanted to tell Bella, through a step-by-step approach, but he didn't expect the latter to be so decisive, and before he could say everything, he had already acted.
Actually, there is one of the most obvious examples, if vampires were really that good, for the sake of eternal life, Voldemort would have turned himself into a vampire a long time ago, but he didn't do that.
Because he knew that if he really did that, then he was really dead, and there was no room for manoeuvre.
Essentially, there is no difference between a vampire and a Hogwarts ghost, a portrait.
Fairy tales are always just fairy tales, aren't they?
These things are clearly written in the books in the Hogwarts library.
Why could ancient wizards hunt vampires without any scruples, even now that an agreement has been signed, the Ministry of Magic still turns a blind eye to the hunting of vampires.
Because, at their core, they are a pack of beasts, and very dangerous beasts.
This is also the reason for Carl's attitude towards the Cullens.
Only they think that they are still the same themselves.
Otherwise, in the face of the temptation of near-eternal life, a wizard will turn himself into a vampire.
In contrast, werewolves are better than vampires, the former is better than themselves, and the latter is no longer the same.
Of course, there are exceptions, and the children born to humans and vampires are still alive.
They have the abilities of vampires, but they are still alive.
However, it came at the cost of their mother's life.
Carl vividly remembered a quote he had read from a book.
- The birth of a vampire will be accompanied by the death of a life.
"But Carl, why didn't you tell them?" asked Nick, who couldn't help but be curious, after a while.
"Why tell them?" asked Karl rhetorically.
From the moment Bella made her choice, it was too late.
Isn't it great that the dead are gone, the living are happy, and everything is happy?
"Whew!"
A wolf howl, followed by a pack.
It was a farewell for Jacob's family.
Carl looked out the window, and in the dense forest, several wolf heads poked out.
One of them was grayish-yellow, and Karl's eyes were familiar.
He sat up and waved at them, leaned back in his chair, and smiled.
It seems that Jacob also made a choice.
There are some things that you can't change if you want to.
......
But you always have to try, don't you?
