Section 48: Naval Warfare
Bruce had the sailors load the ship with ash and brimstone, and it took ten rounds to fill the ship, and Stukov could only touch his nose as he watched Bruce turn the ship into dust.
"Let's go, let's go back." Bruce looked at the shipload of volcanic ash and was content to let Stukov return.
Stukov shook his head, raised his right hand and made a few turns overhead, allowing the sailors to turn the sails while the sailors paddled their oars, and the merchant ship laden with cargo staggered and slowly embarked on the return voyage.
"Pegasus." Stukov said to Bruce.
"What?" Bruce said as he looked at Stukov in confusion.
"I said, this ship is called Pegasus, and despite its small size, it is the fastest in this part of the sea." Stukov said to Bruce.
As soon as Stukov's words fell, the sailor watching from the mast suddenly issued a warning, he saw a suspicious ship appear in the southwest direction of the sea, and Stukov heard the sailor's warning and hurriedly looked over.
"What's wrong?" Bruce asked hurriedly.
"It's a pirate." Stukov said nervously, and he immediately turned the sails in favor of the wind, and at the same time asked the sailors to lower the pulp, which slapped against the surface of the sea, and the Pegasus tried to get rid of the pirates who were pursuing him.
"Oh oh oh~~." Bruce was standing on the deck of the Pegasus, and he heard the shouts of pirates and the sound of swords slapping shields from the sea.
"Lord, we must abandon some cargo and lighten the ship." Stukov shouted to Bruce in some anxiety.
"No, you must not abandon the goods." But Bruce immediately refused, the volcanic ash was his most important material, and if he threw it away, he would be busy in vain.
The pirates' ship was a narrow wooden boat in which the pirates sat on either side of the boat, and they rowed the boat with wood pulp, so it was much faster than a merchant ship.
"How many pirates?" Bruce pulled out the sword at his waist and asked Eve the Huntress with the sword in his hand.
"Twelve." Eve had her bow in her hand, and she replied to Bruce as she stared at the approaching pirate ship in the distance.
"How many can you destroy?" Bruce said to Eve.
"Squeak~." Eve didn't answer Bruce, she bent her bow and aimed her arrow at the pirate ship, then released her fingers and the arrow came out of the string.
The arrow was fast against the sea breeze, but it seemed to others to be like floating towards a pirate ship, but the power of the arrow was undeniable, and one of the pirates who was paddling snorted miserably, and the arrow hit him in the throat.
"Damn." The pirate leader stood at the bow of the ship, and he was arrogant and loud to encourage his men, but he did not expect that the very arrows of the merchant ship could be so accurate and shoot the pirates at such a distance on the adrift sea.
"Eleven." Eve lowered her bow and said to Bruce.
"Well done." Bruce exclaimed, Huntress Eve's archery skills were really not enough, but the pirates were immediately prepared, and they picked up the round shield hanging from the side of the ship to guard against Eve's long-range fire.
"Come on, bastard." Stukov also had his eyes open, and he firmly controlled the rudder of the ship, putting the merchant ship in an advantageous position to gain the upper hand.
The pirate ship rushed straight towards the Pegasus, and at this time, there were generally three types of attacks at sea, the first of which was to shoot with a bow and arrow, to weaken the personnel on the enemy ship as much as possible. The second is hand-to-hand combat, in which after two ships come into contact, sailors from both sides jump onto each other's decks for hand-to-hand combat. The third type is ramming, in which the front end of the warship is equipped with a solid ramming angle, which directly hits the weak parts such as the side of the enemy ship.
The pirates' plan was to ram the merchant ship, leaving it without the ability to continue moving, and becoming meat on the chopping block at the disposal of the pirates, but this time the pirates met their opponents.
Stukov, a man who is very good at maneuvering ships, accurately judges the movement of the sea currents and the direction of the wind, even if the Pegasus is full of cargo, but always able to pass by the pirates, and the pirates always have no chance to take advantage of it.
"Bastard, how do you row boats." The pirate leader was furious, and he took his anger out on his fellow shipmates, but as soon as he was careless, the arrow fired from the Pegasus grazed his arm and landed on the mast behind him.
"Tsk." Huntress Eve frowned, she regretted her mistake, but it wasn't easy on the shaky deck.
"Whew." At this moment, the sail on the Pegasus suddenly stopped, and the sail drooped weakly, and Stukov was shocked when he saw it, he didn't expect such bad luck, and at this moment the wind stopped.
"Damn." Bruce hurriedly grabbed the pulp and rowed desperately, and the sailors mobilized to paddle.
Edward also picked up the wood pulp and joined the oars, but was attacked by the pirates, and the man was either killed or taken as a slave to the oars, and if it was a slave to the oars, he would rather die.
The two ships pursued one after the other, and the pirates saw that the wind had stopped, and immediately let out cheers, the merchant ships were not pushed by sails, and the speed of human oars alone was definitely not as fast as the pirates, and the pirates thanked the sea god for his protection, and they were even more convinced that this big fish belonged to them.
"Ping~." One side of the corsair crashed into the side of the Pegasus, and although Stukov avoided the impact of the collision, the Pegasus came to a complete halt.
"Oooo The pirates put down the pulp in their hands, they took out the ropes and threw them at the deck of the Pegasus, and the sailors, not to be outdone, immediately drew their knives and slashed at the ropes that were thrown up.
But there were too many ropes, and several pirates climbed up the Pegasus with short knives in their towels.
"Meet the enemy, meet the enemy." Bruce grabbed the sword in his hand and shouted loudly, he ran to the side of the ship and saw a pirate who had just emerged, and unceremoniously stabbed him in the face, the pirate fell down with a scream, Bruce withdrew his sword and found a bloody eyeball hanging from the tip of the sword.
"Whoosh, whoosh." Eve stood on the deck, her hands shooting arrows non-stop, killing the pirates who had just climbed onto the deck, the sailors knew what would happen to the pirates once they were on board, they resisted desperately, and the sound of swords colliding with metal echoed across the deck.
"Kill, kill them all." The pirate leader had already been enraged, and he decided not to leave a single one alive, and when he jumped onto the deck, the half of the tower seemed to be impressive.
