Section 11: The Executioner

Todd's house became Bruce's property, and Bruce was satisfied with the start for the time being, finally having a sum of money and materials in his hands, and his brother James had not noticed it yet, taking advantage of this opportunity for Bruce to prepare for development.

"Your Excellency, Your Lord." Suddenly a voice woke Bruce from his musings, and when he came to his senses, Bruce sat in the village warehouse, surrounded by the villagers of Glinton, and kneeling at the wooden table was Todd and his bodyguards, whispering to remind Bruce that it was Warren the Elder.

"Oh, in the name of the lord, I sentence Todd to death, let's execute!" Bruce raised his chin and announced to everyone that the lord was the supreme ruler of a territory, with judicial, administrative, and military rights, and that the lord had almost unlimited rights over his own acres and two cents of land.

"Oooo Hearing the lord's sentence, the villagers in the warehouse cheered, each of them lived a miserable life under Todd's oppression, and now watching this culprit sentenced to death was undoubtedly something that everyone would be happy to see.

"My lord, what if we don't have an executioner?" Elder Warren said to Bruce with some concern.

"Then appoint one!" Bruce wondered for a moment, and then realized that everyone in the medieval world had their own place, and some professions were even hereditary, because people believed that it was the will of God, and it could also make the profession more specialized, such as executioner, which was a profession that enforced the lord's right to kill.

Bruce looked around at the villagers, and strangely enough, although they hated Todd, when Bruce was about to appoint an executioner to kill Todd, the villagers avoided Bruce's eyes.

"You." Bruce casually pointed at a fierce-looking villager, but the villager immediately stepped back and waved his hand in refusal.

When Bruce pointed out four or five villagers in a row, they all rejected Bruce's appointment, which made Bruce extremely annoyed, thinking that these villagers were too weak, if he ruled such a weak group of people, what would he talk about rebelling against his brother, and what would he talk about establishing hegemony.

"Let me do it." At this moment, a crisp voice sounded, and the huntress Eve pushed the others out of the way.

"You?" Bruston was stunned for a moment when he suddenly saw a woman asking to be an executioner, after all, this profession seemed to have nothing to do with women.

"Hahahaha." The villagers in the warehouse, both men and women, burst into laughter, and laughter echoed through the empty warehouse.

"Hmph." Huntress Eve sneered, she seemed to see something in Bruce's face, and turned around to return to the crowd with some disappointment.

"You, Eve, I order you to be Grinton's new executioner." But Bruce's voice came from behind her, and Eve stopped and turned around, seeing Bruce announcing loudly to everyone.

"Wow~~." The villagers were shocked that a woman had been appointed as an executioner by the chief, the first of its kind in the kingdoms of the entire continent.

"Let a woman be the executioner, this, lordship, there is no such precedent." Even Elder Warren was surprised, and he hurriedly tried to dissuade Bruce.

"Needless to say, this is the first order of me, Lord Grinton." Bruce said firmly.

Bruce's decision was not a whim, he considered that among these people, only the huntress was familiar with killing and gore due to her previous profession, and Eve was undoubtedly the most suitable from a professional point of view.

"No, I don't want to die at the hands of a woman." Todd panicked, convinced that if he was killed by a woman, his soul might not be able to ascend to heaven, but Bruce ignored his cries for mercy.

Todd and his bodyguards waited next to the stake of a large tree at the entrance of the village, and the villagers watched the scene in a circle with relish, the stake became a natural guillotine, and Eve sat on the side, grinding an axe in her hand on the stone to make it sharper.

"Here you go, Eve." Warren the Elder walked up to Eve and handed her a black cloth mask, which the executioner had to wear, which was the tradition of the executioner, some said to protect the executioner so that the executioner would not be recognized by the prisoner's family, while others said that it was to ensure that the executioner would not be targeted by the prisoner's unjust spirit.

"Take the prisoner Todd." Bruce stood in the middle of the crowd as he saw Eve sharpen her axe and nodded, commanding loudly.

"Woo." Todd trembled, he no longer had his usual pride in the face of death, he was dragged to the guillotine like a dead dog, and the blacksmith pressed Todd's head to the stake.

"This is my first public job, and I have to do it well." Eve took the black cloth mask, smiled at Elder Warren, put on the black mask and walked towards Todd with an axe, but the woman's slender figure was also awkward to look at.

"Your lord, even if you are a prisoner, you should have the right to repent at the end of your life." Elder Warren suggested to Bruce again.

"But we don't have a pastor." Bruce was getting a little impatient, and he wanted to fix the matter quickly.

"Rest assured, we have clergy." Elder Warren told Bruce not to worry, and he had the mad monk brought in, but the mad monk was covered in mud and didn't know how to get the ale there.

"May your soul, be forgiven by your ass." The drunken mad monk muttered as he raised his right index and middle fingers to Todd, who was kneeling on the guillotine.

"The Lord God is above, can't you even give me this right?" Todd was in despair, and he decided he was cursed.

"Are you alright?" Bruce shouted impatiently.

"Alright, Todd will be punished for your crimes!" Eve didn't care about the muttering of the mad monk standing in front of her, and after she finished speaking to Todd from her mask, she raised the sharp axe in her hand and swung it at the back of Todd's neck.

"Doo, poof." The axe slashed off Todd's head, blood spurting from the incision and splattering the mad monk's face.

"Ahh The mad monk was sprayed with blood and fell backwards, waving his hands and shouting, his antics making everyone laugh.

"Gollum." Todd's head rolled to the ground, and he opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but now there was nothing to say, perhaps he was regretting his carelessness.
