Chapter 1043: Book Burning and Confucianism (2)

In fact! The incident of burning books and pit Confucianism in history is not literal, and burning all Confucian books is not burying Confucianism. Book burning and Confucianism are two events, which were said and understood by later generations.

There are also historical figures who can look at things correctly, and they understand that some people with ulterior motives in later generations deliberately exaggerated their words to understand it this way, saying that the burning of books and the pit of Confucianism is a cultural disaster.

Not really! Everything has a cause and effect, and it doesn't happen suddenly for no reason. Everything has a cause, development, continuation, growth, and ending, and there is a complete process.

In materialist terms, the true human body of Taoism does not exist. The so-called real person and real human body are just a standard for cultivation. When a person has reached the level of enlightenment, he is a "real person".

Reality! To put it bluntly, it is a real person, a person who understands life.

Real human body! It is the body, the physical body of the person who understands life. When a person understands life, does he still care about the length of his life? Actually, that's what it means! It's not that if you cultivate into a real human body, you will be immortal.

If it is understood as immortality, it is a misunderstanding. In this way, people cannot cultivate the real human body, and they cannot understand life.

The true Taoist understanding of immortality is the belief that human beings, like all things, come from nature and from the Tao. Man, like all things, is just a life process. It's just a species that lives at the right time and dies at the wrong time.

So! Taoists have no sense of the length of human life. Anyway, it's death, early death and late death are death, and there is no need to care. Life is nothing but the process of completing a life, just living for the sake of living. So! Details can be ignored.

This is the "generosity" of Taoism after enlightenment, and a kind of indifferent generosity towards life. But! It's not that I don't think life has any meaning.

If you understand that life is just to live, just to complete the process of this life, is it so simple? That is again misunderstood.

Taoists believe that life is not just about living, but living for the sake of living.

Because! In the process of living, we still have a wealth of content. We have been through infancy, childhood, adolescence, youth, middle age, prime of life, old age. And also! We have gone through marriage, family, career, hobbies, etc., etc., and the content is very rich.

If we have studied the ideas of Taoism and understood that there is no meaning in living as a human being, then we are wrong. But! If we indulge in it, indulge in marriage, family, career, hobbies, etc., etc., and indulge in the trivialities of life, it is also wrong. Because! People are going to die, so what's the point of you being too serious?

In fact! When we have seriously experienced our infancy, childhood, adolescence, youth, middle age, prime of life, and old age, our lives will be very interesting. Unfortunately! Most people in the world are addicted to a certain point and can't extricate themselves.

Not only do we have to complete the process of our lives, but we also have to think outside the narrow circle of thinking and see that people are going to die. When we understand life in this way, we understand life correctly. And then! We choose our own way of living. Such! Life has meaning, and there is life.

If we indulge in the trivialities of life, as if we don't know that people are going to die, and can't jump out of this circle, then we have wrong ideas. If we blindly think that people are going to die, and that everything in life is meaningless, this is also a wrong idea. Don't? Is our marriage, family, the joy of men and women, and the affection between parents and children meaningless? Isn't it?

And our Qin Shi Huang, he may have misunderstood the real person and the real human body, misunderstood immortality, and thought that people can be immortal and cultivate into immortals. Outcome! Go astray.

Maybe? Our Qin Shi Huang's reason for wanting to live forever is not only to be an emperor, but to be forever. It is more likely that he thinks that only he has the ability to govern the world. What if it could prolong life? In his lifetime, he will be able to govern the world well.

If that's what makes him want to live forever. So! We are to worship and worship.

Anyway! Qin Shi Huang and his old man listened to the words of the warlock and sent people overseas to look for immortals and elixirs. The result is conceivable, there are no immortals in this world. The people sent to find immortals naturally returned in vain.

Reputedly! Qin Shi Huang was not a Confucian scholar, but some charlatans.

Reputedly! The warlock approached the first emperor, not to refine medicine and seek pills, but to spread the "Tao Sutra" to the world.

The "Tao Jing" mentioned here is not the Tao Jing in Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching. "Xunzi? There is a similar quote in the Unmasking Chapter, which says: "The Tao Sutra says: 'The danger of the human heart. The heart of the Tao is small. 'There are a few dangers, but only a wise gentleman can know them. ”

Qin Shi Huang was annoyed and angry, believing that the warlocks were playing tricks on him. So, first burn the Taoist scriptures, and then pit the warlocks.

The pit of Confucianism was not a continuation of book burning, but was caused by some scholars and Confucian scholars slandering Qin Shi Huang.

After Qin Shi Huang unified China, it is said that he wanted to live forever.

Warlocks Hou Sheng, Lu Sheng and others catered to their needs and promised to find this medicine for Qin Shi Huang.

According to Qin's law, those who fail to fulfill their lies, or whose medicine is invalid, will be punished with death.

Hou Sheng and Lu Sheng knew that they would die if they couldn't get the elixir of immortality, so they not only ran away with the money, but also slandered Qin Shi Huang for his rigid nature, serving as a full-time prison official, and that no matter how big or small, he was the sole decider to decide, greedy for power, and so on.

After hearing this, Qin Shi Huang was furious and irrepressible, and ordered an investigation on the charge of chaos with evil words, and personally circled more than 460 people to be buried alive in Xianyang.

This is the so-called "Confucianism" incident.

Book burning is in the front, and Confucianism is in the back.

In the 34th year of the reign of Qin Shi Huang (213 BC), the doctor Qi Ren Chun Yuyue opposed the "county system" implemented at that time, and demanded that according to the ancient system, the children should be divided. Prime Minister Li Si refuted it and advocated prohibiting the common people from slandering the government with private learning.

Qin Shi Huang adopted Li Si's suggestion and ordered the burning of the historical records of the nations other than the "Records of Qin", and handed over and burned the books of folk medicine divination and planting trees, as well as the private collection of "poems" and "books" that did not belong to the doctor's museum; There are those who dare to talk about the execution of "poems" and "books", and the extermination of the race in the past and not in the present; Private learning is forbidden, and those who want to learn the laws and regulations must be taught by officials. This is called "book burning".

In fact! On the matter of "book burning", Qin Shi Huang also turned a blind eye. As a generation of kings, a king who has unified the six kingdoms, he still knows it in his heart. Burning books is just for show, to scare and scare those who are "non-mainstream" ideas, and to make an example of them. If it were so comprehensive and thorough, the ancient books would no longer exist.

That is, all those who are "involved", those who are within a certain range, must hand over the "forbidden book". Elsewhere, just for show.

Of course! There is no shortage of officials who make sycophants, those who take the opportunity to make trouble, and those who have a tendon in their heads take the opportunity to make trouble and strictly enforce it. Therefore! It was the burning of many "forbidden books".

These people will do whatever you say, and they will do whatever they want, and they look like they are brainless. Outcome! A certain amount of damage was caused. At last! Let Qin Shi Huang carry the black cauldron of history.

Think about it: if Qin Shi Huang was so useless, could he still unify the world? The Warring States period has gone through hundreds of years, and no one has been able to achieve unification, but he has done it. If he is incompetent, can he do it?
