Chapter 3: How to do one of the Getaways
The first part of Zhuangzi's "Leisurely Journey" is about the realm and height. () Depending on the realm and the different heights at which we look at things, we will have different lives. Different realms and heights mean that we have different feelings about life.
The first part of Zhuangzi's "Wandering Away" is a lesson from "There is a fish in the north of the underworld, and its name is Kun." The Kun is so big that I don't know how many thousands of miles it is; "Beginning, to" and Peng Zu has heard it for a long time, and everyone is sad? "Stop.
What is "there is a fish in the North Underworld, and its name is Kun"? It's just that the cold air that Zhuangzi saw on the way to find his son in the bitter cold land of Mobei hit. Then borrow the story written in an ancient book called "Qi Harmony" to visually package it.
Only by experiencing it first-hand can you have a voice. Legend has it that cold air came from somewhere in the north. Although Zhuangzi did not find the place of the "Northern Underworld", he believed that what was written in the ancient book "Qi Harmony" had a certain basis.
And also! Zhuangzi has been to Wuyue, to the seaside, and has personally experienced typhoons.
In "Getaway", Zhuangzi is not here to write about cold air or typhoons, but to use this as a metaphor to talk about things. The main purpose is to talk about the power of the changes in heaven and earth, the irresistible force. What "Kun" and what "Peng" are all used to talk about things, to make comparisons, to talk about the realm, to talk about the height.
With the comparison of the huge guy Kunpeng, it can show the small size of the cicada and the little turtledove that appear later.
The size of Kunpeng has its great realm and height, and it has its foundation. After writing about the greatness of Kunpeng, there is a basis for writing about Kunpeng's greatness immediately.
So! There is such a text introduction: And the accumulation of water is not thick, so it is not able to carry the boat. If the cup of water is on the top of the hall, the mustard will be the boat; Put the cup and glue, the water is shallow and the boat is big. If the accumulation of wind is not thick, then its negative wings are also weak. Therefore, 90,000 miles, the wind is below, and then it is now the wind; Carrying the blue sky, and Mo Zhi is dying, and then it is now Tu Nan.
In fact! This passage is telling us that if you want to live a leisurely life, like Kunpeng, flying freely and looking down on the world, you must stand on the height of the Tao to look at the world and life.
That's the basics!
If you don't stand at this height, you are a "quill and a dove", and you can't understand why Kunpeng is like that? You can't understand Taoism, and you can't fly in the sky and look down on the world.
Taoists believe that human beings, like all things, are just passers-by of a life, and the process of completing this life is completed. Man, like all things, is born at the right time and dies at the wrong time.
With this guiding ideology, our lives are already clear. Being alive is the purpose and task of our life, and it is wrong to pursue what is superfluous, what affects the safety of life, what is temporarily happy and what is painful later, and what affects our happiness.
We are just trying to live, to complete the process of this life. Isn't it? Why do we want to "pursue the superfluous, the future that affects the safety of life, the pursuit of temporary happiness and later suffering, and the pursuit of what affects our happiness"?
Letting go of the superfluous, living well, and completing the process of our life this time is what we are pursuing.
If we can't stand at this height and realm to look at life and treat life, then! We won't get away with it. So! I became a "quiver and a dove".
They think that their lives are very good: "I decided to fly, grab the elm and stop, the time is not coming, but the control is just on the ground, and the ridicule is 90,000 miles to the south?" "What's the meaning of your Kunpeng life? Why do that? What's the point? And 90,000 miles?
In fact! The passage of Shu and Xueju in "Getaway" is about concepts. If we don't change our mindset and think that our current way of life, our outlook on life, and our way of dealing with it are right, then! We can only be "quizzes and doves" forever, we can't become Kunpeng, we won't understand the ambition of Kunpeng, and we won't have a free life.
The difference in perception is determined by the difference in our IQ, knowledge, and education.
Perceptions can be completely changed! We can use the method of comparison to get a person to change their perceptions.
Lao Tzu's "Tao Te Ching" adopts this method, compare! Thinking by analogy. Just like the law of the United States, a law without this method can be based on similar cases.
So! This gives us the following text:
Small knowledge is not as good as big knowledge, and small years are not as good as big years. Do you know what it is? The fungus does not know the obscurity, the cockroach does not know the spring and autumn, and this small year is also. There are spirits in the south of Chu, with 500 years old as spring and 500 years old as autumn; In ancient times, there were people who had a big tsubaki, and 8,000 years old was the spring, and 8,000 years old was the autumn. This big year also. And Peng Zu has heard of it for a long time, and everyone is like it, isn't it also sad?
The translated meaning is roughly as follows:
Ash can't be compared with Wisdom, and short life can't be compared with longevity.
Juncao, who dies in the twilight of life, does not know night and dawn.
The cicadas who are born in spring and die in summer, and die in summer and autumn, do not know the time of year.
There is a big tree in the south of Chu called the spirit turtle, which regards five hundred years as a spring and five hundred years as an autumn.
In ancient times, there was a tree called Tsubaki, which regarded 8,000 years as a spring and 8,000 years as an autumn.
Legend has it that the longest-lived person is Peng Zu, Peng Zu lived for more than 700 years, if we compare our longevity with him, how can we compare?
In fact! Life is just a process! What is the difference between longevity and short-lived? Completing the process of this life is equivalent to completing your mission, what is there to compare?
The purpose of Zhuangzi's lecture on this passage is to make comparisons and understand the life process of all things, and the life process of human beings is the same as that of all things, whether it is long or short, it is only a life process.
Man, like all things, is just a species that is born at the right time and dies at the wrong time. When human beings are no longer fit to live on the earth, when human beings, like other species, will perish, when human beings no longer exist, the so-called human civilization created by human beings, especially the spiritual civilization, the so-called local culture, will all go with it.
When that time comes, what will be the meaning of the civilization and culture we are pursuing?
Don't say it's so far, just talk about the present. When we die, what is the use of what we are seeking?
Alive! It is what we are pursuing, and there is no need to pursue it superfluously. Living happily is what we are pursuing, and there is no need for superfluous things and superfluous pursuits.
The first part of Zhuangzi's "Wandering Away" is about the realm. Different realms mean different perspectives on life. Only when we stand on the height of the Tao can our lives truly be free.
Otherwise! We are the "quids and doves" that jump among the grass and trees. The world we see in our life is limited!
Take people in modern society as an example, what is the difference between many people and "lizards and doves"? They think that if they can earn money, have wealth and glory, that is life. Although he is unscrupulous when making money, he is scolded shamelessly or pitifully behind his back. Glory is only on the surface, and being scolded behind the scenes is fake. But they think this is life, they want results, they want superficial things: they have wealth and glory.
Seeing others chasing beautiful women and handsome guys, (seeing others raising mistresses and little white faces) they (they) also pursue them, thinking that this is life.
Seeing that others have cars and houses, new cars and new houses, they also pursue them, thinking that this is life.
Seeing others taking advantage of policy loopholes, or earning money to immigrate abroad to live a temporary life of pleasure, they also pursue it, thinking that this is life.
When they see others taking tens of millions of yuan of wedding photos, they also want to take them, thinking that this is life.
Seeing what styles of clothes are circulating on the street, and what new styles others are wearing, they obviously don't have the ability to buy them, and they don't lack clothes to wear, but they still have to try their best to buy them, they think this is life.
Needless to say, if we think that's life? Then we are the "Shu and Xue Dove" in Zhuangzi's "Wandering Away".
