Chapter 801: Fourteen Grades (II)

"The Buddha told Sariputta: Is the Buddha's land pure?" The Buddha asked Sariputta, is this Buddha land solemn and pure?

Sariputta said: Only! World-honored! I don't see it, I don't hear it, and now the land of the Buddha is strictly clear. Sariputta replied, "Alas! Yes, I have never seen it, I have never heard of it, this world is so beautiful, and now I see the solemn and pure Buddha land presented in front of me.

"The Buddha told Sariputta: My Buddha's land is always pure, and for the sake of wanting to save the inferior people, it shows that it is evil and impure land." The Buddha told Sariputta a secret that the land of the Buddha is often so pure, but in order to adapt to the relationship between the inferior beings in this world, the material world presented is so unclean.

"For example, the heavens, the common treasures and food, according to their merits, the color of the food is different." Celestial people do not eat with a bowl and plate, but they eat in a large container, but the same meal, each celestial person eats a different feeling in his mouth. If the good fortune is great, the taste is good, and if the good fortune is small, the taste is worse. In fact, it's not just celestial beings, we are the same, people with stomach problems don't eat anything right, but people without stomach problems think it's delicious. Back then, a few of my fellow villagers came to me from far away from the countryside, and I served them chocolate candy, knowing that they didn't think it was delicious at all. Another time, a friend invited me to eat the best durian, the taste was so bad, my good fortune was not enough, it was really hard to swallow. Some people can eat Korean ginseng as a dried radish, but I only need to eat a small piece to get a nosebleed, and I can't make up for it. So people who are not good at virtue eat nothing delicious.

"Yes! Sariputta! If the heart is pure, then the merits of this earth are solemn. "The Buddha came to the conclusion that if this person has a pure mind, he will naturally see the solemnity of the merits of this Buddha land. This is a fact, not a theory. For example, those of you who have really meditated will feel a light inside and outside your body when you meditate, which is not seen with your eyes. But sometimes the eyes are inflamed and you can see the light, but that's not. When it comes to timing, there is light inside and outside the body, the body has no feelings, no body, no delusions, it is absolutely indistinguishable, pure and solemn. This light is the light of nature, which does not change day and night, and is in a piece of light in the movement and stillness, which is what Tantra says, the body of rainbow light. I don't usually tell you about this, for fear that you will listen to the appearance and seek light every day, and in the end you will have to be nervous.

Now I will tell you two principles, one is that there is no distraction in the psyche, and the other is that there is no physical feeling in the body. Do you feel the physical sensations when you sit here and listen to the lectures? Do you feel your hands, feet, and body? Is it pain or joy? In this realm, it's not a good thing to see the light! can ignore it, but it is so-so; I've heard me talk about a bright light inside and outside, and I think it's a light, it's crazy light. Don't mess around! When many people see something in this, they say that they have a clear eye, but in fact, they have a nerve.

When we reach the realm of light inside and outside, no matter what is being determined, if this material world is pure and solemn. The person who practices in this way will also change his own weather, and his face will be beautiful and glow with neon light. There are many people who consciously meditate and let go of light, but looking at his face full of sickness and death, it is dirtier than coal. These are facts, not theories. When I look at the way my classmates meditate, none of my thoughts are pure, and I know it when I see it. If you have a pure mind for a moment, your aura will be different, and your two-step path will be different. Don't think that meditation is to settle down, and your mind is not pure, and you have done it for half a day in vain.

"When the Buddha appeared in this land and was pure, the five hundred elders and sons of the Treasure Accumulation Institute were all able to endure without life, and the eighty-four thousand people all developed the three bodhichitta." When we studied Buddhism and recited it here, everyone thought, is the Buddha right-footed or left-footed to the ground? Is it a big toe or a small toe? How does a Buddha sit? Why don't you press the ground with your hands? These are all words. It's better for you not to be distracted, just read it and let it go. See, these verses are not said by chance. For example, the Lengyan Sutra says that Ananda had a problem, and the Buddha radiated from the top of his head, and there were 900 incarnations of the Buddha in it, and he passed a mantra and taught Manjushri to save Ananda. Why shine light from the top of your head? Why is another occasion shining from the heart? And from between the eyebrows, what is the reason? If the Buddhist scriptures are all myths and falsehoods, then there is no need to study or study Buddhism. If so, why are the parts of the light different? This is the spirit of studying Buddhism, and it is also practice, which is related to meditation and kung fu. The land, the heart is the heart of the soil, physiologically, the stomach is the soil of the five elements, these data to you, you go to ginseng, you can learn Buddhism, otherwise it is to learn gluttony, not Zen. This is the beginning of the Vimala Sutra that I want you to refer to.

It is said here that when the Buddha appeared that the land was pure, the sons of the five hundred families led by Baoji were able to endure life on the spot. The 84,000 people present here have all developed Mahayana minds. Motivation is the invention of the mind, which is the clear mind that Zen Buddhism speaks of.

"The Buddha is full of gods, and the world is still the same. Those who seek to hear and hear, 32,000 heavens and people, know the impermanence of the Dharma, and the dust is far away, and the eyes of the Dharma are pure. Eight thousand bhikshus, who are not subject to the Dharma, do not understand everything. "In Buddhism, it is said that God is full of feet, and those who generally study the teachings interpret this word as "satisfied", which means to be full. When it comes to cultivating kung fu, the feet of the gods are the feet, and those who really have the skills of the gods can fly to the sky.

The scripture says that the Buddha withdrew his feet and crossed his legs, and then the crowd saw the world return to its original state. Why did the Buddha wait until 500 elders had attained lifeless forbearance, and 84,000 people had Mahayana minds and then withdrew their feet? At this time, the 32,000 heavens and people who were stingy and careabout and had a big heart, and who sought to hear the truth, finally realized the Tao, knew that all the Dharma is impermanent, knew a little bit of emptiness, and was afraid of the burden of this earthly world, and just gained a little purity of the Dharma eyes.

You see, the old man of the Buddha saw that the realm of the Mahayana root apparatus was finished, so he took his feet up. Because there is nothing I can do with the Hinayana root apparatus, I have to take my foot back. Well, it's time for you to come, and as a result, the Hinayana root apparatus people have also preached. Then there are 8,000 bhikshus who "do not accept the Dharma and miss all their understanding", pay attention! It doesn't matter if you are Tiantai, Tantra, Pure Land, Zen, which method you have, you can do these eight words to be the real bhikshu, bhikshuni, novice, novice. If the knots of mind are untied, the eighty-eight knots will be naturally pure, and we will naturally be able to reach the state of leakage, and only then can we be regarded as arhats of bhikshus, and only then can we be free from the Dharma, voidness, and everything.

For example, if you have a Taoist friend today, you must introduce a person who has come back from other places to see me, he has been unable to sleep for a long time, he is sick, and he has become very pessimistic. I talked to him a little bit, but I couldn't talk to him in depth. His fundamental problem is that he has too many knots, which are created by idealism, which affects his physical health. Mind opening is the way, and the first step to enlightenment in Zen Buddhism is this. In Tantra, the first step to enlightenment is to unravel the mind and open the mind. Our heart is like an eight-petal lotus flower, when the concentration is reached, the true enlightenment, the heart is opened, that is, the mind is opened. That's a fact, there is no way to pretend to be, the heart is open, there is a symbol of the heart is open. When a young man comes to me for confirmation, he can't do it with this thought. Practice in a down-to-earth manner, don't deceive yourself and others, thinking that you have understood a truth and you will be home. When it really comes to the time to have some experience, it must be the intention to open the heart, and the pulse to open the heart. This is the end of the first article of the Vimala Sutra.
