Chapter 1046: Bodhisattva Walk (7)
has such a style, so it can "make great progress and destroy the demon army". The five yin are demons, and the troubles are also demons, and they are all here to grind you. There is nothing in our life that is not here to hone you. If you can stand the test, you are a big husband. If it's tempered and broken, it's over. Therefore, it is said that "it is a mediocre talent who can be tempered by heaven and is not envied".
Why is Dajing used here instead of Dayong? Because it is to always seek progress, not satisfied with today's achievements, tomorrow to go further. Practice so diligently until you become a Buddha.
"Always seek thoughtlessness, the wisdom of reality." How to achieve emptiness when studying Buddhism? You have to ask for no thought first. Thoughtlessness is the absence of troubles, the absence of distractions.
For example, when it comes to meditation, how many of them can be mindless?
Thoughtlessness is not the absence of thoughts, which is called death.
Wunian knows everything, a very pure state.
The Sixth Patriarch said that "no thought is the ancestor", and he explained that "there is no delusion for those who have nothing, and there is truth for those who think about it", so no thought is composed of two concepts.
Is the absence of thought a complete absence of thought?
Having thoughts is the constant presence of righteous thoughts, that is, the correct thinking of the Noble Eightfold Path.
Life is not gloomy or scattered, and a lifetime is in the middle of these two; It must not be dull, nor scattered.
To attain this state of concentration is to have pure delusions, and to have pure thoughts before they appear, that is, to have no thoughts.
When we reach non-thought, we can naturally see emptiness, and we have the wisdom of Prajna.
This is the fundamental wisdom of Prajna, not ordinary wisdom.
What is Reality? Reality is non-appearance, and all aspects are empty, which is what the Heart Sutra calls "the emptiness of all laws." The following scriptures are to be learned and followed by Buddhist disciples who are monks at home.
"Do less and want to be content, but not give up the law of the world." Wanting less to be content seems like a common phrase, but it's hard to do. When you start studying Buddhism, you don't want to give up your desires completely, but you want to reduce them.
Only the great arhats who can be absolutely desireless are the fruits of the fruition.
Desire in a broad sense includes everything, not only Confucius said that "eating men and women, people's great desires exist", a person who has a good mountain and forest is pure, it is also desire.
Drinking tea is desire, smoking is desire, loving literature is also desire, and even liking reading is also desire.
Whatever coveting is desire, and it is already very difficult to achieve less desire in cultivation.
Monk cultivation is the most arduous practice, so the monk who practices this method is called an ascetic, and he wears a dung sweep robe, which is pieced together and sewn with the fabric he has picked up. Those who often sit but do not lie down, only meditate, and do not lie down to sleep; If you don't stay in the empty mulberry for three nights, you won't live in the temple.
When we were children, we saw such monks, wearing straw hats as big as umbrellas, carrying a sign of Wei Dao Bodhisattva on their backs, hanging a wooden fish in front of them, and carrying a burden, all their belongings on their shoulders. When it is windy and rainy, he sits under the eaves of other people's houses, and his cloak is the house. Contentment with less desires is the first rule of the Touda.
Contentment with less desires is not only required of the monastic family, but also by the family.
It's hard to have less desires, and it's even harder to be content. The Confucianism and Taoism of the Central Plains also preached contentment, a common concept in Eastern culture.
According to the life realm of Eastern culture, what is happiness? Only contentment can be happy and happy.
When we were young, this concept was basic education, when the purpose of education was to teach children how to behave, and education was influenced by foreign countries, and the purpose was to live.
In fact, life is to be a human being, but it has become very short-sighted and realistic, blindly pursuing happiness. But happiness is not something that can be chased, only contentment can have true happiness, and the standard of happiness is not absolute, only if you are psychologically content, you will always be in happiness.
When I see people eating well, I want to eat well, but if I can eat enough, whether it's good or bad, it's the same comfort.
There is a difference between what you wear well and what I wear. But until I don't catch a cold or freeze to death, the purpose is achieved. When we were young, we all read, "When others ride horses, I ride donkeys, and when I think about it, I am not as good, and when I look back at the person who pushes the cart, I am more than enough." This is what makes us content.
