Chapter 123: The Two Great Groups Take Shape
Hacha was surprised by the name, and he flipped through the treaty and read it carefully.
As he read the back, the blood on his face became less and less, and by the end, his face had turned completely white.
"You guys, what are you trying to do?" With trembling hands, he pointed to the treaty and said, "You want to provoke another great war?" Still want to pull me in? No, no, I'm definitely not going to let Czechoslovakia join you! β
"Oh, don't do that, Mr. Hacha." Leon said, shaking his head.
"Jerry! Jerry! Hacha shouted to his secretary.
"No need to call it, the rest of the Czechoslovak delegation is a guest at the headquarters of the Blackshirts." Mussolini interrupted Hacha's shout, "Don't doubt my Blackshirts, you are the only free Czechs in Rome now, you should honestly consider whether to join us, otherwise you ......"
"Hey, Mr. Mussolini, don't threaten Mr. Hacha." Leon "kindly" persuaded, "After all, he may be our ally." β
"Well, Mr. Hacha, I apologize to you." Mussolini shrugged, "You'd better think about it quickly, though, because I'm probably not as friendly as Mr. Lyon." β
"God! You two madmen! Hacha covered his face with his hands and said bitterly, "I won't promise you!" β
"Are you sure? I think you probably know what the result of a rejection will be. Mussolini threatened again.
"I know, sir, I know." Hacha lowered his hands, "At most, I'll die here today!" Then my people will avenge me, and I promise you that you will taste the power of the people of Czechoslovakia! β
"But." Leon was embarrassed and said, "As far as I know, your people are very friendly to our German army, and they welcome us when we enter the city." β
"What, what?" Hearing Leon's words, Hacha's eyes widened with disbelief.
"I say, you Czechoslovak people are full of kindness to us, and when our German team enters your city, you Czechs welcome us." Leon repeated.
"Into the city? Have you invaded us? Hacha asked incredulously, "What about our army?" You're in our city so soon? β
"What an invasion, we're just here to help." Leon waved his hand, "And, your army?" They all seemed to cooperate with us, and we didn't have any firefights at all. β
"What about the British, the French? Don't they have an army on our borders? Hacha seemed to have grasped the last straw.
"British, French?" Leon repeated it as he pretended to be "puzzled", then turned to Mussolini and asked, "Mr. Leader, do you know where the English and French are?" β
"British, French?" Mussolini also repeated, "They may all be sleeping." β
After saying that, Mussolini and Leon burst into laughter.
"Impossible, impossible." Hacha shook his head, "They promised to provide protection to Czechoslovakia." β
"Hmph, when will the words of the British and French be believed?" Leon snorted coldly, "Mr. Hacha, they betrayed you!" β
Hacha was silent, and after a long time, he raised his head and said to the two of Leons: "I need to get clear news from England and France!" β
Listening to Hacha's request, Mussolini seemed a little embarrassed, to be honest, Mussolini was not sure whether Britain and France really gave up the Czech Republic, but Lyon seemed confident, because the previous Britain and France adopted a policy of appeasement and betrayed Czechoslovakia.
"Okay, no problem." Leon nodded in agreement, "I'll inform Chamberlain and Daladier to come to Rome to negotiate your business, and you can sit next door when the time comes." β
Hacha nodded and agreed.
After dinner, Daladier and Chamberlain rushed to Rome.
"Mr. Leon, I need an explanation from you!" Dara said angrily when they first met, "Why did you violate the Berlin Agreement and suddenly send troops to Czechoslovakia?" β
"Because I think Czechoslovakia needs the protection and help of our Germany, that's all." Leon said indifferently.
"You are robbers!" Daladier roared.
"I support Mr. Lyon, I support Germany." Mussolini on the side spoke out, "Czechoslovakia needs help from Germany." β
"Mr. Mussolini, why do you ......" Daladier was taken aback, he did not expect Mussolini to support Lyon.
"Alright, Mr. Daladier, we're here to solve the problem." Chamberlain, who was on the side, pulled Daladier to persuade him, then turned to Leon and said, "Mr. Leon, I just want to know one thing, what is the head of your great appetite?" β
"I think you must be wrong, Mr. Chamberlain." "Sincerely," Lyon said, "We in Germany just want the German-speaking people to return to the bosom of our homeland, we just want to get our homeland back." β
"Well, Monsieur Lyon, can you promise me that you will get to Czechoslovakia?" Chamberlain looked at Lyon fixedly.
"We really just want to bring the German-speaking regions back to Germany." Lyon still looked "sincere": "I don't think there are any German-speaking regions except Czechoslovakia, right?" β
When Daladier heard this, he hurriedly pulled Chamberlain aside and said, "Mr. Chamberlain, do you really want to promise that bastard of Lyons?" β
"What can I do if I don't agree?" Chamberlain said helplessly, "If you don't choose to agree to him, do you want to choose to go to war?" You and I both know the current situation in our country, and if there was only one person in Lyon, it would be fine, but don't you see Mussolini with him? Italy has just won a battle in Ethiopia, and the limelight is in full swing, so we have to weigh the strength of the German-Italian alliance! β
"There's no other way?" Daladier said unwillingly.
"Alas, Monsieur Daladier, there are some things that should be given up, and only by keeping the present peace can we have a chance to suppress Germany!" Chamberlain advised, "We ourselves are the most important." β
"Okay." Daladier relented, "But Mr. Chamberlain, I think we in England and France may need to put aside our old suspicions once again and join forces against the German-Italian bloc." β
"That's what I mean!" Chamberlain smiled, then shook Daladier's hand.
"Mr. Lyon, we can ignore your annexation of Czechoslovakia, but it must be the last." Chamberlain said lightly, "I don't think you want to see the tragedy of the last war repeated." β
"Unless, of course, you find me another piece of German-speaking territory." Leon laughed.
"And, Dear Monsieur Mussolini, I think you are too close to Italy and Germany, and it's not good." Daladier also threatened Mussolini.
"It's not a bothering France." Mussolini sneered.
After sending Chamberlain and Daladier away, Hacha, who had been next door, came out through gritted teeth, suppressed his anger and said: "I didn't expect that Britain and France would really betray their allies for themselves!" I've always believed in them! β
"Mr. Hacha, would you like to join us now?" Leon laughed, "We won't betray our allies as easily as Britain and France!" β
"Yes, the Treaty of Military Alliance has another name, the Iron Treaty, which means that our relationship will be as hard as steel!" Mussolini chimed in.
"Okay, I'll join!" "I think I'll let England and France know what happened to the betrayal of Czechoslovakia!" β
The next day.
Holding the German People's Will Party in one hand and the telephone in the other, Chamberlain said to Daladier on the other end: "Monsieur Daladier, Germany has not annexed Czechoslovakia, and I think we may have made a wrong decision. β
"FΓΌhrer: We in Germany have strengthened bilateral relations with Czechoslovakia, and we have developed in-depth cooperation between Germany and Czechoslovakia, both economically and militarily!" ββγ**γ
