Chapter 949 The True Meaning of Buddhism
Now let's move on to the recitations that Vimala lay has said for the universal bodhisattvas.
Chanting is a special literary genre in Buddhism, and the use of chanting is to summarize and condense the meaning of the scriptures so that they can be memorized. This verse of the Vimala Sutra contains all the inner meaning of Mahayana Buddhism.
"The bath of the eight solutions, the fixed water is clear, covered with seven pure flowers, bathing this innocent person." The focus here is on the last sentence. When we study Buddhism and practice, we have to learn that there is no impurity, that all good and evil dharmas are not tainted, and that we are truly liberated, and this is the Buddha realm.
The so-called immaculate is self-purification, the true pure land, absolutely pure and complete. Vimala said, use the eight liberation methods to cleanse one's body and mind. The eight liberations are not just theories, but must be empirically demonstrated by body and mind.
Liberation and Taoist freedom mean the same thing, not being trapped by afflictions, but also not being trapped and bound by the conceptual names of the Dharma, is the true liberation. Only then can we be determined, uncertain, and uncertain.
There is liberation but there is no certainty, and that liberation is madness and wisdom; Liberation without wisdom is also a foreign path, and it is not right.
It is said here that "the bath of the eight solutions, the water is full of clear water", and the focus is on Zhanran. Why can't ordinary people be determined?
There are two situations, one is physical and psychological distraction, and the other is physical and psychological drowsiness. To be able to be neither scattered nor drowsy is to be fixed, to be clear, and to be clear. It's not the kind of stupidity that doesn't know anything, it's very dangerous.
Only when it is really decided can we enter the WTO, and only then can we be a person and do things, like stopping water and clear waves, and Vientiane Sijian. In the realm of stopping water and clear waves, all phenomena in the outside world still correspond to things, and there is nothing unknown and unknown, which is fixed. That is, everyone recites a sentence from the "Lengyan Sutra" in the morning and evening, "Miao Zhan always holds the immovable respect".
When a person who is participating in Zen meditation opens his mouth to chant this sentence, he wonders, is it considered a moving thought? That's where the conversation begins. There is a story about a child who went to worship the Buddha and urinated on the Buddha statue in the main hall, and of course he was scolded by the monks.
The child said, "There are Buddhas in the three worlds of the ten directions, where should I go?" Therefore, when singing this sentence, it is a mortal man who is moved, and it is wood that is not moved. Between movement and immobility is the true meaning of the Dharma, that is, the place to be involved. Movement and immobility are silent, always clear, and unpolluted.
Even if we have reached this state, we are only at the beginning of the Dharma, and we have not yet attained perfection. In Zen Buddhism, it's just the first level. Because it can only be empty, not there. Therefore, after "the water is full", it is necessary to further "cloth with seven pure flowers".
The Seven Pure Flowers are the Seven Awakening Branches. "Bathing in this innocent person" to practice in this way, to refine oneself, and finally to attain purity and immaculateness.
"Like a horse five through the gallop, the Mahayana for the car, tune the control with one heart, swim in the Badzheng Road." Ordinary people have property status, of course, there will be means of transportation, in the past, human beings were subdued animals as means of transportation, animals are very pitiful, this is the abomination of human beings. In ancient India, elephants and horses were used as means of transportation. China has used horses since ancient times, and ancient books also use the number of chariots and horses to indicate wealth and status, the so-called house of 100 times, and the house of 1000 times. The ride is a car, and in ancient times, a four-horse horse cart was called a ride. There are 4,000 horses in the house of a thousand rides, as well as combatants who drive and ride in the car, and people who take care of the horses.
Cultivators use the five divine powers as a means of transportation, why do they only say the five divine powers? Because the sixth pass is a leak, it will not move. Practitioners take the Mahayana path as a car, and Mahayana is called Mahayana in Sanskrit, which is the meaning of the chariot and is a descriptive term. The driver who drives the car is called the tuner, and it is the chariot and horse that is subdued. If a practitioner can be undisturbed and be in the center at any time, it is the best way to control it. It can't be determined because it's not good at control.
