Chapter 950 - Phases (1)

I have said more than once that we should pay attention to the 37 Bodhi paths, from the Four Thoughts to the Eightfold Path, there are 37 procedures of the regulations, which are the common path of practice for the Mahayana Path and the Sutra Esoteric Path. For example, the four thoughts are impure in the body, suffering in the mind, impermanence in the mind, and selflessness in the Dharma.

When the Buddha was alive, why did so many disciples immediately become great arhats?

Because they basically practice the four minds. How to cultivate the four thoughts? The mind is not pure, so we have to cultivate the white bone view or impure view, and when we really see it, all the physical feelings, whether it is pain or happiness, are completely gone, so it is quickly achieved. Although the Buddha is no longer in the world, all his practice methods have remained, and there is no need to find anything else. To study the classics well, how to "study well" depends on your wisdom.

The Dharma is all in the classics, and if you read it and don't use it, you can't use it! The Buddha can't do anything about you.

What is said here in the Vimala Sutra is still inseparable from the 37 Bodhi Dao products common to the Mahayana and Hinayana people, and you can get home at any point you catch.

"The appearance is strict, the good decorate their posture, the shame of the top, and the deep heart is Huahu." This is all about teaching the inner cultivation of Buddhists. The Buddha said that all dharmas have no appearance, especially in the "Diamond Sutra", which clearly says that "there is no self, no one, no sentient beings, and no longevity". The Heart Sutra also talks about "the emptiness of all laws". Since there is an emphasis on non-appearance, why do we say that there are 32 aspects and 80 kinds of goodness for those who have become Buddhas?

The Pure Land scriptures also say that the Buddha and Bodhisattva "are good and bright", why? On the path to liberation, all non-appearance can be empty, and only then can the metaphysical essence be realized.

Good and solemn still comes from merit, so you have to cultivate all merit and learn to look at your face to know that many people in the world are the faces of debt collectors. Debts for husband and wife, debts for children...... The streets were full of such unfriendly faces, and there was not a single happy face. Some people's physiognomy is "the opposite side does not see the ears", and the ears cannot be seen from the front, which is physiognologically the appearance of wealth and nobility. But this requires other conditions.

"Xianggu" is a person whose appearance is full of perfection, who is truly determined and enlightened, and even the ugliest appearance has become solemn.

As I mentioned earlier, I have come across many such examples in my experience. Some novels are also written correctly, saying that the treasures of the people who enter the set are solemn, and their faces have changed. If you sit up, with a bitter face on your face, and your back still in your back, and you say that you are settled, then there is no such thing. If it is really decided, the color body and qi veins will inevitably be connected, all nerve cells will naturally loosen (not disperse), and the face will naturally be upright and soft. Therefore, goodness and solemnity come from merit, and what merit is there? The merits of precept and wisdom. It is inevitable that cultivating the mind can change one's appearance.

Vimo lay monk said, "the appearance is strict, the good decoration of their posture", the person who has been determined, the body and mind are changing, Confucianism said that the change of temperament, naturally different from ordinary people, do not need any other special dress. I have reminded my fellow Taoists, don't think that if you study Buddhism, you can be sloppy in appearance, and you still have to look upright.

You see, there is no Buddha or Bodhisattva who is not dressed up, and his body is full of clothes. Except for one, the King of Jizo Bodhisattva, he is a monk, but his hair is shaved brighter than a duck's egg, and it is also decorative. But it's also a mistake to pay too much attention to form. Therefore, it is not right to practice really without ornamentation or excessive ornamentation, because it is not in line with the middle way.

The body and mind can be transformed, and all the merits will be solemnly possessed. This is to cultivate shame at all times, that is, to be humble, that is, to reflect on one's own mistakes at any time, this is shame. A person who truly knows shame is a practitioner. Shame is the most important piece of clothing in our practice, and when we repent and reflect on ourselves at any time, improve ourselves, and cultivate to the fullness of merit, our body and mind will naturally change. Although it is not as good as cultivating to thirty-two phases and eighty kinds, it must be different. That's why it's said "ashamed to obey".
