Chapter 81: Enlightenment (Part II)

So, what about the Buddhist culture I just talked about? Buddhism in China is the sinicization of Buddhism. Speaking of which, it should be the pride of our GD emerging people. Because he was born in Xinzhou in the Tang Dynasty (now XX County), Buddhism originated in India really began to embark on the road of sinicization, and made Zen Buddhism the most far-reaching and longest-spreading Chinese Buddhism.

The six ancestors of Zen Buddhism, Huineng, the three great sages of the Orient who can be called on a par with Confucius and Lao Tzu in the history of Chinese culture, washed away the dirt of all living beings and purified the hearts of the people of society with his extraordinary ideological wisdom. In the hard-working world, in the dream of success and failure, people can enjoy the charm of Chinese Zen joy and the coolness of Bodhi wisdom. He was not only admired by the world, but also became the most accomplished figure in the history of Chinese Zen Buddhism, leaving a glorious page for Chinese culture.

"Bodhi has no tree, the mirror is not a platform, there is nothing originally, where is the dust." This famous proverb is Huineng's famous work, which embodies his idea of enlightenment and enlightenment, forms a Zen ideological system with Chinese characteristics, establishes the mainstream position of Zen Buddhism in the Buddhist world, and has a profound impact on Chinese cultural thought after the Tang and Song dynasties, and has become synonymous with Chinese Buddhism.

Huineng's reformed Zen Buddhism is infiltrated with the spirit of traditional Chinese culture, and its views of "clear mind and insight" and "Tao from the heart" affirm the main body of life practice; Bring the divine Buddha-nature back to people's real minds, and rely on self-confidence and self-awareness to achieve self-liberation; The seemingly profound Zen principles are contained in daily life, so that Buddhism, which originally advocated negative "birth", began to face life and has the color of "entering the WTO"; The pursuit of nature, informal detachment and open-mindedness: such as "spring has a hundred flowers, autumn has a moon, summer has a cool breeze and winter has snow, if there is nothing to worry about, it is a good season in the world." "It's the best portrayal.

Viewed from a cultural perspective, Zen Buddhism is both a religion and an attitude and wisdom of life; It is both a belief and a unique way of thinking. It is like a source of living water, through the participation and promotion of literati in the past generations, it once brought vitality and vitality to Chinese culture, and had a profound impact on Chinese philosophy, ethics, poetry, etc. For example, Wang Wei's "Lu Chai": "I don't see people in the empty mountains, but I hear people's voices." Return to the deep forest, re-shine on the moss", soaked with a strong spiritual Zen. The artistic conception of Zen Buddhism, which is true in temperament and detached from the world, gives traditional poetry more charm and aesthetic characteristics of life understanding; More importantly, Zen Buddhism basically integrates the ideological system of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, and integrates it into the deep layers of Chinese culture, bringing Chinese culture into a new artistic conception that focuses on nature, harmony, spirituality and vividness. There was Zen Buddhism in the Tang Dynasty, and Huineng did make great contributions.

Although Wang Wenguang and Ni Fu don't read much, they are very talented, and after Liang Shirong said a little bit, their brains suddenly opened, as if they had realized the wise saying of "the Tao is understood from the heart", and even said "Good, good!" Well spoken! ”

Liang Shirong saw that they could listen to their minds and really understand, so he went one step further to guide and educate:

The Sixth Patriarch Huineng, as the founder of Chinese Zen Buddhism, has a broad and profound Zen thought, and the "Sutra of the Altar of the Six Patriarchs" is a concentrated embodiment of his Zen thought. The Sixth Patriarch Huineng advocated the idea of persuading others to be kind, and had many beneficial inspirations for our society and people.

Revelation 1: Teach people to promote good and abandon evil. There is such a description in the Sutra of the Altar of the Six Patriarchs: Human beings, as their own minds, are originally "unphased" Prajna wisdom, and this mind is like the sun and the moon, always quiet and bright, and ignorance and evil are like floating clouds covering the sun and the moon. When the clouds dissipate (i.e., remove the ignorance and wrong views from oneself), the wisdom of Prajna is revealed. The socialist harmonious society we are building today is, first of all, a society governed by the rule of law. It is difficult to perfect a society governed by the rule of law, and the rift lies in the fact that some people may act out of selfishness and distraction, just like floating clouds covering the sun and moon. When these people feel that it is hateful to "see what is good and forget what is right," they will abandon evil and promote good (i.e., eliminate ignorance and wrong views in their bodies), and the wisdom of Prajna will be revealed. It can be seen that the "wisdom of Prajna" of the six patriarchs Huineng is very consistent with "being proud of abiding by the law and being ashamed of forgetting righteousness for the sake of profit", and the meaning is self-evident.

Revelation 2: Specify the value orientation of being a human being. "The Sutra of the Altar of the Six Patriarchs" highlights a kind of human Buddhism thought, opening up the world people can not escape from reality and get rid of society, but should do good deeds that are beneficial to the people in the world with the spirit of selflessness, and practice the highest state of Buddhism "not to seek happiness for themselves, but to free all sentient beings from suffering". Today, what we want to build is not only aimed at the disharmony between people and between regions caused by the widening gap between the rich and the poor in economic construction, but more importantly, and the most difficult thing to achieve, is to have a set of socialist values with Chinese characteristics. If the value orientation of citizens blindly pursues eating, drinking, playing, having fun, money worship, abusing power for personal gain, etc., then what is there to talk about a harmonious society? People can't just look at a few dollars all day long, the important thing is to have a quiet mind. If the soul is quiet, the land will be quiet, and the people will be able to achieve harmony, and the country can achieve long-term harmony. More than 1,300 years ago, Master Huineng pointed out to the world the value orientation of being a human being and established correct values, which is the same as the socialist values with Chinese characteristics that we want to promote among our citizens to build a harmonious society today.

Revelation 3: Pursue traditional virtues. There is a waking word in the "Sutra of the Altar of the Six Patriarchs", which specifically educates the world: "The heart is peaceful, what is the precept, what is the use of practicing meditation, kindness is filial piety to parents, righteousness is up and down, let is respect and humility, evil is all evil, bitter mouth is good medicine, reverse the ear must be loyal, change must give birth to wisdom, protect the short-hearted non-virtuous." "Respecting the old and loving the young, honoring parents, correcting mistakes, etc., these are the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation. Today, more than 1,300 years later, revisiting the awakening words of the Sixth Patriarch still feels very cordial, and the words are as good as yesterday. Now, don't our elders often teach us younger ones as well? The Sixth Patriarch Master already said this in the Tang Dynasty, so the thought of the Sixth Patriarch Huineng has been deeply rooted in the people, continues to this day, and has influenced modern times.

"Brother Liang, after listening to the Dharma you preached, especially the revelation that taught people to promote good and abandon evil, it spoke to my heart." When Wang Wenguang said this, he touched his head with his hand and said how he felt:

What you just said about "man's own mind, like the sun and the moon, is always quiet and bright, and ignorance and evil are like clouds covering the sun and the moon" is so wonderful and pertinent! I also have this first-hand experience. I used to be a soldier, I was also an aspiring and enthusiastic soldier, I made a third-class meritorious service in the army, and after I was discharged from the army, I worked in a security company. In the first two years, he carried forward the glorious tradition in the army, worked diligently, and ensured the safety of the party, which was praised by the company and local citizens. But later, some bosses of the units I was sent to by the company saw that I had been a soldier and was strong, so they asked me to collect money and collect debts for them with a high salary. This change is like the sun and the moon being covered by clouds of ignorance and wickedness in one's own mind. After listening to Brother Liang's words just now, it was as if the clouds and mist had dissipated my own ignorance and evil opinions, and the wisdom of Prajna was revealed, and I seemed to have found my previous ambitious self again.
