Chapter 1016: How Vimala Lay Scholars Learn Buddhism (Part II)
Poverty alleviation means to relieve poverty and pull him along. According to the current culture, there is nothing to be excessive, which is what should be done by being a human being.
In other words, your culture believes that people do not live for themselves, they live for others.
Of course, others live for me, and this is a relationship of mutual assistance. According to several Buddhist scriptures, this kind of behavior is only found in our world, so don't take yourself lightly.
In the second sentence, "Destroy the forbidden with pure precepts", you can also write a paper and study, from the time you have the writing, until you have the Four Books and Five Classics, during this period, Buddhism has not yet spread to the East.
Among the four books, only the Analects is Confucius's thought, the University is written by Confucius's descendant Zeng Zi, the Mean is written by Confucius's grandson Zisi, and Mencius is written by Zisi's students.
If you look up the "Biography of High Monks", seven or eight out of ten are from Confucianism, so many people use Confucian concepts to explain Buddhism. The Four Books and Five Classics of Confucianism teach people how to behave and focus on humanity.
"Zuo Chuan" said that "the way of heaven is far away, and humanity is far away", how to cultivate the metaphysical way? Where the hell is the sky? Confucius taught us to "worship ghosts and gods and stay away".
You have to respect it, but this question is too far-reaching, don't study it lightly, you first do a good job of shallow humanity, and then go further to explore the way of heaven.
If you can't do humanity well, do you want to study Buddhism?
Many people, including me, really have problems as a human being, but after claiming to study Buddhism, reading Buddhist scriptures, and taking refuge in Buddhism, their necks are stiff, and they tilt their heads up, as if I am the first, that is a fall!
All the books of Confucianism are about humanity, and if you compare them with the Mahayana precepts, you can see why I often say that the Four Books and Five Classics are the Vinaya of Buddhism, the precepts of humanity, that is, the precepts of laymen.
A true lay person must do these vows.
For example, the Analects is full of precepts, which teach us how to behave, how to do things, and how to be parents of children.
Therefore, all living beings in this world are able to "destroy the forbidden with pure precepts", especially in Eastern culture.
Western culture was very shallow a long time ago, and then the culture of the East was also introduced, and it is also a natural trend to go down this road, and to destroy the forbidden with pure precepts.
So from the point of view of the Dharma, the real Dharma will not have the end of the Dharma era.
The so-called end of the Dharma only refers to the form of religion, but in fact, the truth of the Fa-rectification is eternal and inhabitable.
Therefore, to say that "the Dharma abides" is just that the teachings and attitudes of the great bodhisattvas are different with the times.
If you can understand it in this way, then you will have a wide range of understanding and a big mind.
The Buddha said that all dharma is dharma, and this is the greatness of dharma.
The third sentence is "to endure humiliation and resentment", which goes without saying, to learn Buddhism, we must learn to endure humiliation, and in the same way, there is no book in China that does not teach us to be humble.
Humility is the expression of forbearance, forbearance is the principle, and humility is the behavior.
It is the real forbearance that people can retreat from humbly.
All these teachings are Dharma.
The fourth sentence "to improve and slack off", not to mention, Oriental culture is easy to come by, hard work, but the translation of Buddhist terms is different.
The fifth sentence is "to use meditation to control the chaotic mind", we should pay attention to this point, for any religious philosophy, we must open our eyes, they are all fixed, and it is quiet.
For example, the order of revision in the "University" is very clear: "After knowing and stopping, there is determination, determination and then quietness, tranquility and then peace, peace and then consideration, and then consideration." "This order of cultivation is meditation, not after the Dharma came.
Later, the Buddhist scriptures translated Zen, and the word "Zen" is a transliteration, and you read it in Lingnan and Hokkien to be closer to the original sound.
The word "fixed" is taken from the "knowledge and then there is determination" in the "University".
Meditation is a common dharma, which is available in Mahayana, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and ordinary people.
Even dancing and concentrating on the same, to the realm of self-forgetfulness, that is, meditation, but that is the meditation samadhi of ordinary people.
Prayer in other religions is also a form of meditation.
Some parishioners of other religions said to me: "When he was baptized, his mind was so pure that the pores of his whole body were open. ”
I said, "You're saved!" ”
In Confucianism, it is about "sincerity" and "respect".
The moment he knelt down, it was really inductive, not the induction that someone gave him, it was given to him by himself, and what he already had, that is, meditation.
However, this is still ordinary Zen, not the wisdom obtained by the Dharma and the Dharma that are not in common with the Dharma, which is what I will say below.
So meditation exists in any sect, and although it is against Buddhism, every school practices meditation.
So I don't forgive Confucianism, he stole the Buddha with his right hand, stole the Tao with his left hand, and then scolded others for being wrong, what kind of Confucianism is this?
The grandeur is too small. But this fault is not that of Confucius and Mencius.
Confucianism advocates honesty and respect, there are several of my teachers, I am afraid when I see it, he has not been sloppy in life, he is very rigorous, and there is no smile on his face, one of them is a showman, and he studied Buddhism and Confucianism, or came back from studying in Japan.
He also put a copy of the banknotes of the printing master next to him in class, and he is also a vegetarian.
