Chapter 990: Life and Death (2)
When the mind sees one's own reality, it "does not see the body", and does not see the body very firmly, and the body does not see it anymore. In Hinayana terms, there are two kinds of obstacles that prevent us from attaining enlightenment, and that is confusion and confusion.
Confusion is the karmic retribution we bring, that is, greed, anger, ignorance, slowness, and doubt. Seeing confusion is a mistake in concept, that is, seeing from the body, seeing from the side, seeing from evil, seeing from seeing, and taking from forbiddenness.
We all meditated and recited the Buddha for a long time, but in fact we all had evil views. I also want to seek ventilation and pulse, and I want to live a long and healthy life, and my body is getting heavier and heavier. The Diamond Sutra tells us that we must have the appearance of a lifeless person, and we can only see the Tao by removing these concepts.
Some people have also asked me why some monks are becoming more and more sick when they are vegetarians. As if Buddhism is life insurance and should guarantee that you will not get sick, this is a misconception. In fact, life is based on illness and suffering, and it is only when you encounter pain and physical illness that it is easy to have a way. If you are healthy, happy, famous, and wealthy, and you are proud of everything, you will not want to cultivate the Tao. Because I was sick, I didn't dare to mess around, and then, of course, I was a little selfish, and I wanted to repair my body a little better, and that's how I planted a good root. Therefore, in the rules of the jungle, cultivators do not seek to be disease-free, but disease is still good knowledge!
Therefore, we should "not see the body", but also "see the body and destroy it", and don't feel that life is dead when we see that the body is broken, which is like just a broken tool, just a different tool.
Why? "There is no difference between the body and the body", this sentence is even more serious! We have been studying Buddhism for many years, when have we ever seen the Pure Dharmakaya? Where is the Pure Dharmakaya?
If you want to empty this body, empty all the yin and yin, as if you don't even have this physical body, of course, the Dharma body will be pure. So the Dharmakaya is in your present physical body.
The Zen patriarch of Yunmen said: "There is a treasure in it, and the secret is in the shape of the mountain." "This treasure is in your flesh: The Rinzai patriarch also said: "There is a real person who has no place on the red meat ball, and he often enters and exits through the door of your other noodles. "No real person is life, running in and out in front of our eyes, ears, nose, tongue and body, but we don't know it.
So the Dharmakaya is looking for you in this physical body, and if you can find this clearly, that's right. Goode also has a verse:
A section of the top of the Wuyun Mountain is empty, and the same door does not meet
Countless robberies came to rent a house to live in, and at the end of the day, I didn't know the owner
There is a void above the five aggregates of our cognition, and this emptiness is the Dharmakaya, which is on our body, how do you verify it?
Why do some people become enlightened by seeing or smelling, but we cannot?
The Dharmakaya is in you, and if you can find this, you will be enlightened.
Further, you should not look down on this physical body, which is the Dharmakaya. That's why it is said in the Song of the Enlightenment, "The illusion of an empty body is the Dharma body." Therefore, according to the Mahayana bodhisattva vows, suicide is a violation of heavy vows, which is equivalent to killing Buddhas, bodhisattvas, and arhats. Your physical body is the physical body of a Buddha, and it is not possible for you to become a Buddha tomorrow, and to leave the body and blood of a Buddha is a sin to enter the Infernal Hell.
Destroying one's own body, kicking oneself at will, and wasting one's life are all violations of the bodhisattva vows.
As mentioned earlier, the "Book of Filial Piety" of Confucian culture also says, "The body is skinned, and the parents who receive it dare not destroy it, and the beginning of filial piety is also." ”
Ancient Confucianism opposed Buddhism, in fact, it was not against Buddhism, but against monasticism, parents did not support it, shaved their heads and sent out of the family, thinking that it was unfilial piety. This concept is to take care of the body, because the body is born and raised by our parents, they want us to be healthy, and if you destroy the body, it is unfilial.
He also said, "A gentleman does not stand under a dangerous wall", which is also the truth. Although the body should be taken care of, the Confucian principle is that "death is as light as a feather, and it is heavier than Mount Tai". Therefore, there is a lot of truth in the Central Plains culture about life and death.
Understanding the principle that the body and the body are not dual, the physical body is the same as the Dharma body, life and death are the same, and "not being frightened or afraid in it" is to enter the only way.
