Chapter 1034: Don't Dare to Call Yourself Smelling More (Part II)
A person who has attained the Tao can argue without hindrance, and he writes articles or speaks endlessly, and it is very relaxed, and if he still wants to think about it, then it becomes an obstacle to debate, not ethereal.
That's why the wisdom of the Buddha is eloquent! "Incredible", that is unimaginable in the realm of ordinary people.
"Ananda Buddha said: I have been from now on, and I dare not claim to think that I have heard too much." Ananda listened to what the Buddha said about the realm of enlightened people, so he told the Buddha that from now on, I will no longer dare to consider myself knowledgeable.
Ananda had not yet attained enlightenment at this time, but the common sense of Buddhism was very profound. The Buddha also said that the bodhisattvas of the first land did not know the things of the two places, and the bodhisattvas of the two places did not know the things of the three places. In other words, if you don't reach that realm, you won't know, and you won't dare to speculate, it's incredible.
"The Buddha told Ananda: Don't retreat. So what? I say that you are the most heard in the sounds, not a bodhisattva. ”
The Buddha admonished Ananda not to have the idea of retreating! I'm just saying that you are the best among the shravaka disciples and have the strongest memory, I'm not saying that you are the best among the bodhisattvas, and the bodhisattva realm is not what you can imagine.
Someone asked me how I felt after spending three years reading the entire Tripitaka, and I said it was like reading a Journey to the West novel. Ordinary old-timers turned green when they heard this, thinking that I had insulted the Buddha.
Actually, I'm telling the truth, what's the point? If you can be heart-to-heart, it naturally looks relaxed, this "Vimala Sutra" has three alleys, all the "Tripitaka" has more than 10,000 alleys, I sit and read 20 volumes every day, and I am afraid that it will be too slow, so I keep reading it day and night. What I am most grateful for is this pair of eyes, I always let them work overtime, and I still often see things until dawn. I often touch them and say, I'm sorry, man, for making you work hard.
Why do you say this? In our practice, we often feel repentant, thinking that the Dharma is so profound, how can we do it? Forget it, I'm hopeless! So you treat this sutra as a novel as a script, so that you don't back down.
You see, the Buddha told Ananda, don't give up!
"Stop, Ananda, there is no limit to the bodhisattvas who have wisdom." Calm down, Ananda, don't feel uncomfortable, all the wise people in the world can't speculate and imagine the realm of enlightened bodhisattvas.
So the Buddha said to Ananda, don't speculate on the Buddha's realm, you just need to practice honestly, and only ask about hard work, not about harvest. That is, the ancients said, "Don't use ordinary feelings to divinate the holy quantity".
"All the abysses of the sea can still be measured, and the bodhisattva's meditation, wisdom, total holding, eloquence, and all merits are immeasurable." Ananda is no longer an ordinary person, like us who want to be Ananda's students, it is still a problem whether he accepts it or not.
The Buddha repeatedly reminded Ananda that all the abysses of the sea can still be measured, but as for the bodhisattva's state of meditation, the attainment of wisdom, the scope of the total holding, the depth of his eloquence, and even all his merits, you have no way to measure it, and you have no way to know it until that level. If you speculate, you are slandering the Buddha and violating the great precepts.
"Ananda, what you have done by the Bodhisattva is the power of the supernatural power that Vimala has manifested for a while, and all the voices and Buddhas have been in a hundred thousand eons and cannot be done by trying their best to change." The Buddha told Ananda again, don't diverge your conversations, these guests haven't been greeted yet, so let's put aside the issue of the Mahayana Bodhisattva realm for the time being.
The realm of supernatural powers that Vimala monks are showing today is something that you generally learn from Hinayana and Buddhas, even if you use all your strength and spend millions of eons on him.
The Buddha had this conversation with Ananda, and let's not forget that there were many visitors at the scene.
