Chapter 913: Compassion and Joy (3)
Manjushri then asked, "What is sorrow?" Answer: The merits of a bodhisattva are shared by all sentient beings. ”
Compassion and compassion are separate.
Vimal's answer to the question "What is sorrow" is very simple: absolutely no selfishness is compassion.
Like the rain of the sky or the rise of the sun, there is absolutely no desire to keep it for oneself, and it is universally given to all living beings, regardless of whether it is good or bad.
Merit represents the achievement of goodness, meritorious work and hard work are meritorious, and there is establishment and income is virtue.
Some people ask people if they have time, in the past, we asked people if they had time, and time represents time, and sometimes we also write about successful husbands.
The merit is borrowed from the Buddhist scriptures, and the original text is from the "Book of Shang".
We often say that a person's merits are immeasurable, but once they are spoken, they are measured.
The merits of the bodhisattva are immeasurable, because he himself does not want them, "all of them are shared with all sentient beings."
This is what dedication means, with the merits of your practice, chanting sutras, worshipping the Buddha, and so on, with all your relatives and all sentient beings.
There are four fundamental and important behaviors of a student of Buddhism:
Compassion, compassion, joy, giving.
Some colleagues have no smile on their faces, and they look like they come to collect debts, or they are just a hateful face.
I want you to learn the first step of Buddhism, first learn the smile of Maitreya Bodhisattva, especially when your legs are hurting when you meditate, you can laugh while hurting!
After three years of laughing, you are used to laughing, and you will have a smile on your face when you don't speak.
What are the benefits of laughing?
When you smile, your nerves and muscles are loosened, and you meditate and clench your teeth, why bother?
Chanting the Buddha is so painful, what are you doing!
The four basic behaviors of learning Buddhism should be reversed to study first and let go of everything.
If you can't do this word, of course you can't be happy.
The second is to learn joy, then to learn compassion, and finally to be compassionate.
Especially this joy is very important, some colleagues are ambitious and talented, if you want to save the world, forget it!
You save the cells on your face first, loosen up a little, and smile a little.
"Before you become a Buddha, you must first become popular", with a smile on his face, it is okay if others want to beat you and scold you.
I tell you, I have learned all the martial arts, and finally learned one of the first punches in the world, so I don't need to learn other punches, and now I pass it on to you, and if someone wants to beat me and scold me, I will bow down and kneel: "You are all right!" "That's it, it's invincible.
If you don't have popularity, who else can you save? I often tell you that you are only afraid that you will not become a Buddha, and you are not afraid that you will not have sentient beings.
If you want to become a Buddha, you must first self-discipline, and the principle of self-discipline lies in the four words of compassion, compassion, joy, and renunciation.
What is Hi?
"What does it mean to be happy?"
He replied, "Rejoice and have no regrets." Those who help others and benefit others will never regret it, that is, they will be happy. ”
Sometimes people do good deeds and regret it, such as giving two times of money, and then think about it, in fact, half of it is enough, and they regret it.
Greed, hatred, ignorance, slowness, doubt, regret, why is repentance so important in the root afflictions?
Everyone regrets all day long, such as eating, eating half a bowl more, taking digestive medicine after a meal, regretting eating more, which is also regret.
The real joy is that the giver goes out and forgets about it.
I often advise those people not to turn their fate to others, Sichuan people say: "Persuading people to pay money is like cutting meat with a blunt knife", the more people think about it, the more painful it is, not a merit.
There is a story that after Sun Wukong became a Buddha, there was a demon king in the world, and his supernatural abilities were greater than Sun Wukong, making trouble in the world.
Everyone recommended Sun Wukong to subdue the demon, and Sun Wukong came to take a look, this demon king my old grandson can't subdue it.
So he went to find Guanyin Bodhisattva, Guanyin Bodhisattva was meditating, too lazy to pay attention, and told him to go to the west to find the Buddha.
The Buddha found a little novice and gave him a small yellow burden to go on the road.
Xiao Shami went to find the Demon King, the Demon King was about to attack, Xiao Shami asked him to look at something first, so he took out the fate book from the yellow baggage, and asked the Demon King to write a name, and the Demon King ran away when he saw it. Even the demons are afraid of this, so don't just go to the fate.
This "joy without regrets" is very difficult, the person you have helped will later be sorry for you, and the more you think about it, the more you will regret helping him in the first place. It is merit to be able to achieve "equality of grievances and relatives".
"What is a giving? Answer: There is no hope for the blessings that have been made. ”
Of course, I'm not a religious, let alone a Buddhist, because I'm not qualified, I'm not compassionate and joyful, and I have the face of a demon king.
Why am I afraid of the Catholics? When these men came to the image of their leader, they knelt down and begged for peace and wealth.
If these leaders and gods bless them because they are worshipped, then they are guilty of embezzlement and accepting bribes.
Religion should be that you should save good people, and bad people should be saved, and you should take care of them if you worship them, and you should take care of them if you don't worship him.
Therefore, the psychology of these religious followers is very terrible, and they all want something.
The Mahayana bodhisattva is to let go of everything, to give to others without remembering the favors, without any wishes, and to make merits without asking for anything in return.
Even when you meditate and practice, you don't seek to become a Buddha, you just want peace in your own mind, because your own peace can affect the peace of others, and that's it.
