Chapter 964 - Phases (15)
The first requirement for cultivating the five paths is renunciation, so the first precept for bhikshus and bhikshunis is to abstain from sexual immorality. Desire in the broad sense includes all greed and hatred, and desire in the narrow sense includes only two things: food and drink, men and women. Confucius also said: "Men and women eat and drink, and the great desires of people are saved." This is how the lives of beings in the realm of desire come about.
How can you get rid of desire in desire? This is what I said earlier, such as "a lotus born in the fire", which is very difficult. Therefore, it is particularly difficult to practice at home, and it takes several times more effort to do so.
If you really want to cultivate to the five spiritual powers, in addition to cultivating until the precepts appear, you must also cultivate to compassion. The precepts are very strict, and if there is no compassionate cooperation, it is not a precept.
Why? The precepts are about rules and regulations, and those who keep the precepts often become angry when they see that others are not rigorous.
Moral people tend to be heavy-minded and distinguish between good and evil right and wrong, but in fact they are resentful. You say it's good not to distinguish between good and evil, then you have become a big nonsense and a big idiot. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the vows, and the vows must be accompanied by compassion, and the concentration can be achieved in order to attain the five paths.
This has not yet attained Bodhi, because supernatural powers are not the way. Therefore, the bodhisattva vows are not allowed to manifest supernatural powers. Unless he's about to leave, then he can play with his supernatural powers, show the people of the world, and prove that the Dharma is true.
Why aren't you allowed to show your supernatural powers? Because it will confuse sentient beings, thinking that supernatural powers are the way. Magical powers are the most charming, which means that we are obsessed with money, thinking that money is wealth. Money is just a tool of wealth, and the real wealth is not in the amount of money.
Therefore, with the five divine powers, if right and wrong, good and evil are too clear and there is no mercy and forbearance, and you cannot tolerate others, you will become an assura, and heaven and man will not be able to do it.
Asura is hatred, and it is a demon. The male asura is angry, and the female asura is obsessed with it, and the love is so obsessed that it is to death. But don't look down on Asura, Asura is still very blessed, he and the celestial people are one is kind and kind, and the other is angry and obsessed.
Heaven, asura, and human beings are still considered to be the three realms, and there are many great gods who protect the Dharma in Buddhism, all of whom are asuras, and he does not lose his temper all day long, and sometimes he is very kind.
You offend him, and he loses his temper. But the Bodhisattva is different, no matter what you do to him, he is always kind to you.
Therefore, the Vimal monks do not educate people in just one way, but depends on the root organs of the person. For those who want to become Wutong immortals, they should enlighten sentient beings and make them establish precepts, forbearance, and compassion.
Forbearance does not mean enduring insults, you don't misinterpret them, everything is unsatisfactory is humiliation. When I cultivate a delusional thought, to be able to cut it off is to forbearance. The Central Plains has a saying that "the wisdom sword cuts the love thread" and "you can afford to lift it and let it go", all of which are forbearance and humiliation.
This sentence reveals a message, if you want to cultivate supernatural powers, you must cultivate precepts, forbearance, and compassion, and if you can obtain the five divine powers, you will become an immortal. The immortal path is not easy, where to go after cultivating, I went as soon as my mind moved.
"Seeing that he who has to make offerings, he is now a servant, and he is pleased with his wishes, but he has a heart of the Tao." To help others is to make offerings, and to only make offerings to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and not to sentient beings, is also committing the vows, and committing the vows of sycophancy.
It is not right to study Buddhism with this kind of mentality. So, when you see someone in need of help, you show up as a servant to help. Others are naturally happy, and they can also persuade them to learn Buddhism, which is one of the methods of education and inducement.
I often encourage young people to teach, and it is painful for a true educator to sacrifice himself, unlike a professional teacher. I don't want to sleep at home, why did I come here to talk to you?
It's because it's a responsibility, not a responsibility for anyone, as long as it's what it should do, no matter how tired it is, it's going to be done.
