This scene depicts that when Siddhartha Gautama went out of the city to visit, he saw the bitterness of the world and lamented it, so he was disgusted with the world, and immediately ordered his servants to drive back to the city. Therefore, the name of the prince is over the city.

And the place where these two ancient Buddhas were born is fifty miles outside the city of Lumbini. There is an old city here, and in the middle of this old city there is a stupa. It is the birthplace of the Buddha of Garakata Village and the Buddha of Ganokamuni. These two relics of the Buddha have a stone pillar more than 30 feet high before and after, and on the stone pillar, there are the relics of the Buddha after Nirvana, and this was built during the Sanssouci King period and has been left to this day.

This master has been holding on to this Lumbini Monastery for many years, although there are not many monks in this Monastery, but it is precisely because the people around this Zen Monastery believe in Buddhism, so this can more or less support the glory of the Buddha. The master's meditation hall is also quite simple, except for a table in the middle and a bed against the wall, there is nothing else.

After sitting down, I only heard this Xuankong master say: "I don't know the envoy of the kingdom, what is the so-called matter of this late-night visit?" ”

"There is nothing else, it is late at night, and I suddenly can't sleep, so I want to have a chat with the master" Wang Xuance casually replied to Master Xuankong's words, observing his expression by the way. Seeing that Master Xuankong was still the same as before, kind and dignified, there was no abnormality at all. So he continued: "Today, there is Master Lao, who took us to the holy place of the Buddha and had a thorough view, which is indeed touching for a long time, and it is much more appropriate for things to be used here. ”

"Yes, I don't know how this Buddhism is in your Tang Dynasty now, I had a conversation with Master Xuanzang at the beginning, and I heard him talk about it at that time, Buddhism has been chaotic and dissecting since he left Middle-earth. And in the fourth year of your Tang Dynasty martial arts, there was an incident of forcing monks to return to the laity, and there was a sudden fault line in Buddhism. Master Xuankong said to Wang Xuance with the words that Master Xuanzang said to him back then.

Wang Xuance also learned a lot about these things in his later history. It is precisely because of the vigorous development of Buddhism in the Northern Wei Dynasty that a practice was formed: if the common people became monks, they could be exempted from military service and taxes. In addition, in the last years of the Sui Dynasty, the whole country was in turmoil, and the heroes rose up in various places, and the people had to become monks in large numbers in order to avoid the military disaster, on the one hand, in order to eat together, and on the other hand, it was also to temporarily seek peace. With the passage of time, it came to this Wude four years, when after many conquests and annexations, the country gradually settled down, in order to recuperate, the then Wude Emperor Li Yuan, passed the order to go, each state and county only to keep one temple, other temples are all demolished, and only a part of the famous monks remained, so, under the guidance of the edict at that time, many monks returned to the layman.

There are pros and cons to the policy, but the advantage is that it has played a great role in promoting the stability of the country and the improvement of productivity, after all, these monks are young and strong laborers. Since the return of customs, the country's taxes have also increased a lot, and the treasury has also been filled a lot. On the one hand, the disadvantage is that no matter whether it is good or bad, as long as it is a young monk who exceeds the establishment, he can only be forced to return to the laity, so that many monks who want to have a deeper level of attainment in this Buddhism are completely cut off from their thoughts, and the powerful seeds of new life in Buddhism are ruined. Although this kind of seed was cut off, after all, this fire is still there, so after Master Xuanzang returned to the Tang Dynasty, this Buddhism flourished again in the Tang Dynasty.

Therefore, this Wang Xuance explained the causes and consequences of this martial virtue to Master Xuankong in detail. I only heard this Xuankong master nodded and said to him: "Any religion is like this, ups and downs, low and low, this Buddhism has only been introduced to your Tang Dynasty for more than 500 years, and there should have been three Buddha extermination incidents, which also shows that there are many problems in the process of spreading." In fact, Master Xuankong is very right, in the past five hundred years, plus the Buddha extermination incident of Emperor Wude, there have indeed been three Buddha extermination incidents on the land of China, one is the Northern Wei Emperor Taiwu Emperor exterminating the Buddha, and the other is the Northern Zhou Emperor Wu Emperor exterminating the Buddha. The basic reason for these two large-scale Buddha extermination incidents is not only the truth that prosperity must decline, but also because the monastery occupies a large amount of land and labor, which endangers the rule of the state, so there is such a result. Therefore, when he said this, this Xuankong Master also had a little bit of worry.
