Chapter 1018: The Bodhisattva Achieves the Eight Dharmas

Vimala said, "A bodhisattva who has attained the eight dharmas will be free of sores and warts in this world, and will be born in the Pure Land." ”

Vimala replied, "You have to be able to accomplish the eight methods to be able to do it." ”

"What is eight?"

What are the eight types? Please see what is said below, which is absolutely related to the education of your oriental culture.

The East has a close relationship with Buddhism, the East is the direction of life, and Shakyamuni Buddha has mentioned the East many times in his life.

The product of "Vimala Sutra" talks about the problem of the Buddha country and eating above, and I have already pointed out that the food eaten here is the realm of thinking about food and knowing food, not food and touching food.

This meal can only be eaten by those who have attained meditation, and if you eat it, you will be successful.

The next product will present another Pure Land of Buddha, which is the Buddha Land of Buddha Ajin, and it is in the East.

It seems that people are not paying attention to this association, and it is possible to work on this aspect.

"Benefiting all beings without expecting retribution." Buddhist scriptures all use the word "benefit", not "benefit", because rao means to be full and as much as possible, and it is not enough to just talk about benefit.

The first method of practice that Vimala mentioned is not only Buddhism, but also everywhere in Eastern and Chinese cultures.

Therefore, there have long been ancient Buddhas in the East, which is also the words of the Buddhist scriptures.

Doing good deeds in the Central Plains culture is called accumulating yin virtue, that is, "for goodness without seeking knowledge", if you are known, you will compliment you, and you will eliminate your good karma and good fortune.

There is another sentence below, "Be afraid of evil", I hope people will know so that they can correct you.

"Suffering on behalf of all sentient beings" is derived from the precepts, and the Buddhist scriptures are the precepts.

The precepts are like laws that regulate moral behavior, and laws are derived from jurisprudence, which is the philosophical truth of law.

The Buddhist scriptures are the principles of the precepts, and the ten good things that I just talked about are the precepts, and the eight ways of achieving the eight precepts are also the precepts.

You don't have to go to the altar to take these vows, but if you have received Buddhist education, you have to correct your behavior accordingly.

I often mention the boundary between heroes and saints, and now I will mention that heroes are conquering the world, saints are conquering themselves, and studying Buddhism is learning to conquer themselves.

It is difficult to conquer the world, and it is even more difficult to conquer yourself. Many people can be heroes, but there is no way to be sages, because they cannot conquer themselves.

Heroes build their ideals and their own troubles on others; The saint is to provoke the pain and troubles of the people of the world by himself.

The saint is the bodhisattva path, that is, "suffering all suffering on behalf of all sentient beings."

So when we look at these scriptures, it's like reciting the vows, and sometimes we really can't read the Vimala Sutra, because we can't do it even after reading it.

In terms of this article, don't say that we have suffered all kinds of sufferings on behalf of all sentient beings, even if our good friends ask us to share the suffering, we can't do it.

"Give all the merit you have done." If you have merit, you don't possess it, but you give it away, which is the final dedication when you chant the sutras.

The principle of dedication has been talked about many times before, and a Lao Tzu "Tao Te Ching" is talking about dedication, such as "for nothing"; Another example is "the outer body and then the body", which is the principle of dedication.

"Waiting for all sentient beings to be humble is not hindered, and the bodhisattvas regard them as Buddhas", see all sentient beings as equal, and be as humble as possible, if you are arrogant, there will be obstacles.

To respect any person such as a sage, this is no different from Confucianism and Taoism!

"Unheard of the scriptures, heard without doubt", convinced that all the Mahayana scriptures that have been heard, although there are some truths that have never been heard, but there is no doubt about it.

"Do not contradict the shravaka" and do not look down on the Hinayana path, because Hinayana is the foundation of Mahayana, and Mahayana is nothing but the expansion of the Hinayana scope.

"Don't be jealous of others' offerings, don't think of your own interests, but subdue your heart in them", monks are not jealous of others being supported, and this also includes being in the family, not being jealous when they see others proud.

I often say that "a family is full of warmth and a thousand family grievances", so the Confucian principle is that people dare not be too rich and noble.

In the past, when I was in my hometown, young people were not allowed to wear leather robes, and the older people wanted to scold when they saw it, so they played this at a young age! Middle-aged people wear leather robes, and they have to add a layer of cover on the outside.

People will blush when they see you rich, but no one will sympathize with you when you are poor.

This is all the psychology of ordinary beings. When we who study Buddhism practice, we have to change this mentality, so don't be jealous of the good of others, but take it as a deserved; If you have any good in yourself, you should be humble, not be proud of it, and practice in such a state of mind.

Modern people often say that it is worth being proud of something, this is Chinese that is not understood, translated from a foreign language, and it is almost the same to barely say that it is worth being proud of.

In the Central Plains culture, it is said that you are worthy of pride, which is a shit mentality.

"The constant province has passed, do not sue the other side, and always seek merit with one heart", the six ancestors also said that practitioners should "but the view has passed, do not talk about people's wrong". The only way to truly study Buddhism is to reflect on oneself, to demand oneself, not to talk about the faults of others, and to devote oneself to cultivating all good deeds and accomplishing all merits.

"It is for the eight dharmas", this is what Vimala said about the eight dharmas of rebirth in the Pure Land, and if you can cultivate it, you will definitely pass away.

But even if these eight dharmas are accomplished, do you say that the karma that has been since beginninglessness is gone?

Not necessarily, because these are just the eight basic methods for attaining the great bodhisattva behavior.

Bodhisattvas do more than the eight dharmas, and when these eight dharmas are accomplished, that is, if they keep the Mahayana precepts, they will not have the pathology of practice, and when they die, they will definitely be able to go to the Pure Land of the Buddha that they have made their vows to go to in their lives.

"When Vimalaya and Manjushri speak the Dharma to the public, hundreds of thousands of celestial beings develop the three bodhichitta, and the ten thousand bodhisattvas have no way to endure life." This is the conclusion of this product, and the text does not need to be explained.
