Chapter 2 Those Missed Days
Xu Jun was born in a coastal city, and his family is a big family, with a rich family, a scholarly family, and a large population. The elders and relatives of the family are either academics or businessmen.
Xu Jun has been smart and clever since he was a child, and he is very loved by his elders. My grandfather was a well-known historian, and because his sons were too talented to inherit his mantle, he was very angry. Now that I have a smart and studious grandson, I can't help pinning my hopes on my grandson and hoping that there will be a successor. As a result, even the elders also cared for Xu Jun and carefully cultivated the successor of the Xu family. Xu Jun also worked very hard, through the subset of history, astronomy and geography, and learned his grandfather's character and knowledge, which made the old man really happy.
In addition to family heirlooms, Xu Jun's interests are indeed wide enough, and he can be regarded as a model of miscellaneous families, especially like machinery and flying. Since he was a child, he dreamed of being a pilot, but due to his slightly poor physique, he died of that heart and turned his interest to mechanical and power sports. Unexpectedly, a private flight school was opened in China, but the family couldn't withstand Xu Jun's soft grinding and hard bubbles, and agreed to pay him tuition to learn to fly under the guarantee of not delaying his studies. In the end, during the summer vacation of his second year of college, he finally fulfilled his blue sky dream and obtained an international pilot license. After that, he would go to that school every year during the holidays to train, increase his flying hours, and have a good time by the way.
After graduating from university, Xu Jun proposed to his family to study abroad, and the reason was very good. The part of national history is difficult to surpass because of the great masters of my grandfather's generation. However, a lot of world history is still blank at home, and if you go abroad to study, you may be able to achieve something in that area. When his grandfather heard it, he also admired his idea, and the result was that Xu Jun's study plan was unanimously approved by the Xu family. It's just that he has to call home every month to report that he is safe.
So two years ago, in 2008, he came from Shanghai alone to study at the University of Frankfurt in Germany. He applied for a graduate degree in modern world history, and Xu Jun had a lot of experience in the study of modern world history, so he quickly entered the state after passing the language barrier, and was ready to submit his graduate thesis at the end of this year. The topic of his dissertation was on the contribution of military science and technology in World War II to the development of history. So in order to have an intuitive understanding of that aspect, through the introduction of his mentor, he came to work in a private military museum outside Frankfurt during the winter vacation. As a result, many years later, when Xu Jun remembered this, he still regretted that he was young and ignorant and accidentally got on the thief ship.
Although the museum occupies a small area, it has five floors up and down, including the basement. The exhibits are all a variety of World War II ordnance and other related products. The boss, that is, the curator, is an old man who looks to be in his eighties, and his body is still very strong. Xu Jun could see from the old man's walking and talking demeanor that the curator must have been a soldier before. "Looking at his age, he is still an old German soldier who participated in World War II", Xu Jun thought secretly. Don't look at it as just a private museum, the collection is very rich, the categories are complete, and there are a few precious exhibits that even large museums can't see, and the condition is so good that people think that the thing was directly opened to the museum from the production line of the year. This made Xu Jun suspect that the curator was a remnant of the Third Reich who managed some secret Nazi arsenal.
At first, Xu Jun was only assigned to do some simple exhibit archiving and research tasks, and later took on some maintenance work. Seeing that Xu Jun had done an excellent job, the curator then handed over to him the task of sorting out and repairing the broken ordnance and cleaning up the warehouse. The museum has a small repair shop attached to it, and in addition to repairing the cultural relics in the museum's collection, it also undertakes the restoration of vintage vehicles and antique weapons from private collections. With access to so many rare weapons and old-fashioned precision machinery, Xu Jun, an avid mechanical enthusiast, had no complaints about the curator's brutal oppression, and he was still happy to do so. The result was a complete armorer, excellent storekeeper and mechanic.
The old guy probably felt that this kid from the East still had potential to tap and energy to squeeze, so he asked Xu Jun to lead a few mechanics in the hall to sort out those heavy equipment.
After taking over this work, Xu Jun found that the inside of the first-class tanks and airplanes had long been eroded beyond recognition by the years, all kinds of rubber products had aged to the point that they were not in shape, and the electrical wiring was also a mess due to aging. However, the mechanical part was very fine because of the oil seal at that time, so there was no rust. After replacing a few electrical components and installing new circuits, the test car really started, which made Xu Jun have a deep impression of the industrial level of Germany at that time. The plane was a little more difficult, but the inspection really opened Xu Jun's eyes. In particular, the Messerschmitt 109 turned out to be a brand new original, or a pre-1940 model. I really have to wonder about the origin of the curator. Come to think of it, repair still has to be repaired. The curator asked someone to call up the production materials and technical drawings of the factory at that time, and Xu Jun thoroughly inspected the aircraft according to the drawings. It's really an old antique, although the sealing work is done perfectly, but because of the age, the metal natural fatigue, the structural strength has decreased, some structures need to be re-done, the battery and circuit all need to be replaced, the hydraulic system should be re-cleaned, the hydraulic pipe oil seal should be replaced, the fuel pump should be replaced with a new one, the radio station should be removed for maintenance, and some places need to be reinforced, and the instrument should be removed to clean up and oil debugging. The cāo longitudinal steel wire is still strong, but the connecting bolts are all scrapped. The engine was ok, but it took a lot of time to clean up the previous seal oil, and it was concluded that it should still fly if it was repaired according to his plan.
After Xu Jun finished these things, he suddenly found that the winter vacation had already passed for two months. He was so immersed in his passion for World War II precision manufacturing technology that he completely forgot about his studies. Now that the school had already opened, he had no choice but to ask his tutor to simply take a year off and repeat this year's course next year. The curator was also a little embarrassed, and also specially greeted Xu Jun's mentor, and also applied for a work visa for Xu Jun, and then officially signed a two-year contract to hire him as a museum technician with a high salary. It can also be regarded as compensation for delaying Xu Jun's studies. Xu Jun also learned the lesson of this plaything loss and began to pick up his studies again after work. He began to seriously study the history of World War II with the help of a large number of World War II documents in the museum's warehouse (even the top secret ones, the old man's past is absolutely doubtful).
