Chapter Twenty-Six: The Wheel of the Great Temple
Mingzhao Mountain worships the deceased
Go to the palace of the capital to summon the right
Seeing that more than a month had passed, and Xin Qijian had not yet arrived in Beijing, he sent a fast horse to send a letter to urge.
Seeing that Chen Liang had come out of the shadow of the unjust case, taking care of housework, concentrating on studying, and preparing with confidence to take the imperial examination in two months, he was overjoyed. asked Chen Liang to accompany him to Jinhua to sweep the tomb of Lu Zuqian.
This Lu Zuqian, the word Bogong, is called Mr. Donglai. He was born in a family of eunuchs, that is, the Lu family with the same name as the Han family, the eighth ancestor was the prime minister of the Taizong Dynasty Lu Mengzheng, the seventh ancestor Lu Yijian, and the sixth ancestor Lu Gongbi were all officials to the prime minister, to his generation, there were dozens of ancestors, fathers, brothers, and younger brothers who were officials in the court. In addition to their prominent official positions, the Lu family has also made great achievements in their studies. When Lu Zuqian was a child, he followed his father in Fujian, he first studied under Lin Zhiqi, then followed his father to Lin'an, and then studied under Wang Yingchen and Hu Xian.
At the age of seventeen, because of his grandfather's Zhishi, Enyin was the general Shilang, and three years later, he was changed to Di Gonglang and supervised the Nanyue Temple in Tanzhou. After another four years, he was awarded the right Di Gonglang, and was awarded the lieutenant of Tonglu County, Yanzhou, in charge of academic affairs. At the age of twenty-seven, he first took the Zhongxue Macro Vocabulary Examination, and then entered the Jinshi Course. Specially awarded Zuo Congzheng Lang, and changed to a professor of sectarianism in the Southern Waidun Academy.
Although his career is quite proud, and there are many academic works, the family has suffered many misfortunes, and for more than ten years, both parents and the Han sisters have passed away, and a pair of children have also died young. In the third year of Chunxi (1176), the mourning period expired, and due to Li Tao's recommendation, he was promoted to secretary of the provincial secretary, and concurrently served as the editor of the National History Academy and the reviewer of the Records Academy. This year, I was exactly forty years old. By this time, he was sick. The following year, he married the seventeen-year-old Rui as his wife, and on July 28, the sixth year of Chunxi (1179), his wife Rui died again. He also returned to his hometown to recuperate, and died in his hometown on July 29, 1181, at the age of 45.
God is jealous of talent. The government and the opposition regretted it. Xin Qiji made a memorial at that time.
Mr. Donglai is a humble and loyal person, and he is eclectic in learning and learning from others. After the Xiaozong Dynasty, scholars took pride in lecturing and teaching apprentices. At that time, the school was divided into three, Zhu Xueye, Lu Xueye, and Lu Xueye. The three are not very compatible at the same time. Zhu Zi learns from things, Lu learns with a clear heart, and Lu Xue takes both his strengths.
Lu Donglai's doctrine is also known as Wuxue, and its biggest feature is that he does not name a teacher and does not speak privately. In the officialdom, he has always held the position of literature, education and academic, and has successively served as a professor of Confucianism, a university doctor, a lecturer, a historian, an official to a writer, and an editor of the Academy of National History and a reviewer of the Academy of Records. This provided him with good conditions for academic research and the establishment of a school. During this period, he not only wrote many works on science, history, and literature, but also lectured and taught at Lize College for a long time.
Although Lu Zuqian is a physicist, he does not just talk about moral life in his writings. On the one hand, his doctrine starts from the study of life, and it must be based on the three virtues and three elements. The three virtues are the most virtuous and the Taoist; Minde thought it was the line; Filial piety to know evil. The three elements are filial piety to parents; Friendship to respect the virtuous; At the same time, on the other hand, it also advocates the application of history and history.
Chen Liang told Xin Qiji that when he met Bo Gong, he was only seventeen years old, and he didn't think he had anything special, and later Bo Gong even had two subjects, immersed himself in lecturing, and his writings gradually increased, and he was famous all over the world, and Zhu Xi and Zhang Yan were called the three sages of the southeast, so he was impressed, especially he maintained a pleasant face for many years, always not impatient, peaceful and upright, and completely convinced him.
Because the two families were less than 100 miles apart, he often visited this loyal elder brother, and asked him to read more articles and writings to listen to his opinions. As a result, the four seas know each other, but Bo Gong is alone.
The tomb of Lu Zuqian is at the southern foot of Mingzhao Mountain in Wuyi County, where it is the ancestor of the Lu family, and Lu Zuqian is buried with the two Han wives.
Xin Chen and the others placed offerings in front of the tomb, lit sandalwood, and bowed.
Coming down from the mountain, Chen Liang said sadly: "I, Chen Liang, rarely talk to people in my life, and in my free time, except for Brother You'an, I only like to communicate with Bo Gong, talk about the scriptures, comment on the past and the present, and never get tired of it." I am also grateful that he knows me and understands me, and I always feel that he still has a lot to say to me. Since the death of Bo Gong, such cases have become less and less. With that, tears welled up in his eyes.
After leaving Jinhua, the two said goodbye and agreed to meet in Lin'an two months later.
The result of this emperor's summons once again puzzled Xin Qiji.
Emperor Zhao was sitting on the dragon chair, his face was fine, but his confidence was a little lacking. He first inquired about Fujian's government affairs and people's conditions, and Xin Qijian told Fujian's important military and political affairs, judicial prisons, and folk customs one by one, and the emperor nodded his head and praised him:
"Aiqing has always been patriotic and compassionate to the people, bold and capable, this time in Fujian, careful about constitutional affairs, strict and proper, I am very relieved."
Xin Qijian heard this and hurriedly thanked him.
The emperor ordered him to be flat and sitting.
The emperor opened Chrysostom again, what is Aiqing's good strategy for state affairs?
Xin Qiji, frightened and surprised, presented "On the Upper Reaches of Jingxiang for the Southeast", which had been prepared for many days, and sincerely enlightened the saints today:
Today, there is a very dangerous tendency in our government and the people in the opposition to forget the shame of Jingkang and have become accustomed to the present state of peace and quietness. If there are no more extraordinary people in the Great Song Dynasty who use extraordinary means to recover their homeland, there will soon be a "third force" rising, and at that time, the Great Song Dynasty and even the Jin Kingdom will not be so stable, and I am afraid it will be difficult to establish a country.
Speaking of this, he looked up at the emperor and saw that he looked absent-minded, and he couldn't help but be a little disappointed.
Despite this, he still said everything he wanted to say, and said emotionally: Weichen asked the emperor that the imperial court should be in peace and danger, have a long-term vision, appoint virtuous people, strengthen vigilance, repair chariots and horses, prepare equipment, train soldiers, strengthen the military defense force in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and actively prepare for the restoration of the cause.
The emperor said calmly that what Aiqing said was reasonable, and I would order the government hall to plan this matter.
The note submitted by Xin Qiji to the emperor was written by him on the spot and in response to the actual situation on the Jingxiang front.
Three years ago, Lu Jiuyuan, who had passed the year of the Mandate of Heaven, received an edict from the imperial court and was appointed as the Zhijun of Jingmen on Jinghu North Road. So he ended his teaching career in Guixi Yingtianshan, Jiangxi Province for more than five years, and traveled thousands of miles to Jingmen to take up his post.
Back then, the Jin soldiers invaded the south and oppressed the territory, and Jingmen was located on the front line of border defense. And now, Lu Jiuyuan saw that Jingmen had no combat preparation facilities, not even a city wall, and this area was located in the Jianghan Plain, with roads extending in all directions, defending Jiangling in the south, Xiangyang in the north, Suizhou and Zhongxiang in the east, and Yichang in the west. Jingmen is consolidated, and the neighbors can rely on it, otherwise they will suffer from the enemy on their backs.
So, he decided to build the city wall. Reported to the imperial court and asked for funding, but two months passed, but there was no reply.
At that time, Xin Qiji was idle in Daihu and received a letter from Lu Jiuyuan. In addition to being shocked, he was deeply moved by his patriotic enthusiasm and strategic vision, so he immediately replied: Brother Zijing, there is no barrier around a place like Jingmen, and if there is no corresponding defense facilities, once there is a war, it will fall into the hands of the enemy. Therefore, your idea is extremely correct, and the problem now is, don't wait for the court to allocate money, act early. Find your own way to raise it. Let's try to repair the walls first.
Although Lu Jiuyuan is a great Confucian, he is usually polite, but he does things neatly. In view of the malpractices in taxation, he carried out drastic reforms, further straightened out the management system, abolished the outdated and bad habits existing in the officialdom, and severely punished the behaviors of bullying the market and taking advantage of the cards.
As a result, the atmosphere changed greatly, and some foreign traders came to Jingmen to do business, the market became more and more prosperous, and the local tax revenue also increased rapidly.
In the selection and use of talents, we do not pay attention to qualifications and backgrounds, but only use talents. He believes that in ancient times, because local officials were not limited by qualifications and origins, it was easy to distinguish between good and bad performance, and it was not easy for later generations to determine whether they had political achievements or not.
Lu Jiuyuan is an honest and honest official, and enforces the law impartially. Someone complained, and he personally met and accepted it in no matter how early or late. Most cases are decided through mediation. If the content of the complaint involves privacy, is contrary to human ethics and is offensive to morals, the complainant is persuaded to withdraw the appeal voluntarily, so as to maintain the integrity of social morality. Only those who commit serious crimes, the circumstances are heinous, and those who refuse to change their ways after repeated persuasion will be punished in accordance with the law. As a result, there are fewer and fewer civil lawsuits, and by the second year of taking office, there are only two or three lawsuits per month.
Seeing that there was no academy in Jingmen, he built a lecture hall on the eastern slope of Mengshan in the west of the city, and personally lectured and preached science, with an audience of often hundreds of people. Jingmen's originally closed folk customs and ugly customs have changed significantly.
The competent departments at the road and state levels enumerated their achievements and reported them to the imperial court. Zhou Bida, the prime minister of Yiguo and Zuo, once emphasized that the Jingmen army has achieved outstanding results in governance and can be used as an example for local governors to "bow down".
During the period of acting as the pacification envoy of Fujian, Xin Qiji went to Jingmen once. Accompanied by Lu Jiuyuan, he inspected the mountains and rivers and other topography in the area of Jingmen, and then went to Xiangyang.
At the beginning of the year, Lu Jiuyuan suddenly fell ill in Jingmen, and died soon after, Xin Qiji, like the local officials and people, wept bitterly, and when he went out of the funeral, thousands of Jingmen people gave him a funeral.
When the emperor summoned him this time, he remembered the situation in Jingmen at that time, and discussed with Lu Zijing with each other, so he personally explained the strategic importance of the Jingxiang area.
