4. The rebellion was quelled
Speaking of Yang Xuangan, the author has to briefly explain his father Yang Su and uncle Yang Youna.
Yang Su was an all-round man in civil and military affairs, and was an important figure in the court when Emperor Wen of Sui Emperor Yang Jian was the official servant of the right servant.
Back then, when Yang Guang was still the king of Jin, in order to eliminate dissidents and successfully seize the crown prince, he knew that in addition to his father and mother, Yang Su's heavyweight was also very important, and he must be drawn together in order to successfully realize this ambition, so he asked his henchman Yu Wenshu to be in charge of handling it.
Yu Wenshu's original status was obviously too far from Yang Subi, and he came forward directly, which was undoubtedly too unbelievable! He himself knows this. After thinking about it again and again, he could only come up with ingenuity and come up with a "curve to save the country", using Yang Su's brother Yang Yue's greedy and gambling nature to invite the other party to play double mahjong. In the process of playing cards, he deliberately disagreed with the cards, "lost" a large amount of silver one after another, and stuffed Yang Yue's pocket to the brim, so as not to hurriedly show out the hole cards:
"Lord Yang, don't hide it, the silver taels given by the lower officials today are all given by the King of Jin!"
"Given by the King of Jin?" Yang Yue was stunned for a moment, "In this way, the King of Jin must have something important to entrust to the officials?" β
"Jin Wang Ying will be in the future, who will he be in the future of the Great Sui World?" Yuwen Shu went straight to the point, "I hope that the adults will help him, after the matter is completed, the high-ranking officials will not say anything!" β
"Great Sui world! The Great Sui World ...... "Yang Yue was shocked, didn't this guy clearly tell me that King Jin wanted to rebel!" What to do? There is a fight within the royal family, but neither side can afford to offend! Lao Tzu has hit a ghost!
"Looking at Lord Yang's appearance, it seems that he has no intention of helping King Jin!" Yuwen Shu dragged out the tone, one word and one board. The matter was already on the table, and there was no way back, so he had no choice but to let it go.
"Nope! No! In the matter of King Jin, the lower officials should do their best! Yang Yue hurriedly replied, "However, the lower officials are soft-spoken, but I am afraid that they don't have that ability, and they will live up to the expectations of the King of Jin!" β
"With Lord Yang coming forward directly, this matter is certainly difficult to do!" Yuwen Shu smiled wryly, "However, Brother Ling Yang Su is in a high position, as long as the Lord persuades him to help secretly, do you still have to worry about whether the big thing will not succeed?" β
"This ......" Yang Yue eats other people's soft mouths, takes other people's soft hands, and sees a lot of white flowers and silver in his hands, and he is really reluctant to return it, so he hesitates for a while, so he has to swallow and spit out and agree.
Coincidentally, although Yang Su is talented, he is ruthless and opportunistic. He has always known that the most beloved son of Emperor Wen and Queen Dugu is Yang Guang rather than the current crown prince Yang Yong, and the country may fall into the hands of Yang Guang sooner or later, and he is happy to be a favor, once Yang Guang succeeds in usurping the throne in the future, he can sit in the high position of prime minister like a fish in water. After thinking about it for a while, he decided to seize the fact that Yang Yong was lustful and married a lot of little wives, and used various occasions to cleverly lobby and make a big deal in front of Queen Dugu.
Queen Dugu hated the most flowery man in her life, and once she found that a palace maid was favored by Emperor Wen every day, she was very promiscuous, and she had to put the palace maid to death. At that time, she learned that Yang Yong actually had this kind of problem, and she couldn't help but be furious, so she repeatedly proposed to Emperor Wen to abolish Yang Yong and re-establish Yang Guang as the crown prince. Emperor Wen has always been obedient to the queen, how can there be any reason not to follow it? Although a group of important ministers led by Liu Shu strongly opposed it at the court meeting, he still abolished Yang Yong with an edict and made Yang Guang the crown prince.
A few years later, Yang Guang killed his father and ascended the throne. As one of the henchmen of the new emperor, Yang Yue immediately pretended to be Emperor Wen's last life, and sent troops to capture and strangle the deposed prince Yang Yong, cutting off a major future trouble for Yang Guang. Later, Yang Liang, the king of the Han Dynasty, raised troops in Shanxi to denounce Yang Guang's murder of his father and brother. When Yang Su got the news, he immediately entered the court, took the initiative to ask Ying, and led an army of 50,000 to quell the rebellion.
Yang Liang is the youngest son of Yang Jian, who is extremely brave, with a heavy army, sitting on one side, because his eldest brother Yang Yong was killed, he fears that he will become the next target of the purge (of course, it is not ruled out that he will take the opportunity to seize the throne, or at least have the ambition of separating one side), and resolutely rebelled. When he learned that Yang Su's army was coming, he hurriedly ordered his generals Ru Tianbao and Wang Danzi to quickly seize Puzhou (now Puxian County, Shanxi) and burn the Weiqiao Bridge, in an attempt to stop Yang Su's army.
Yang Sujiu has been in the army, and he is even more unambiguous, knowing that the bridge was burned, he took the opportunity to plan and immediately sent 1,000 troops, carried a large number of stones, wood and other things, built a bridge, and then personally led 5,000 light cavalry, wading across the Wei River at night to raid the rebels, defeated Tianbao in a battle, and forced Wang Danzi to surrender the city. Subsequently, he led his troops deep into Huoshan, stole out along the cliff valley, and defeated the rebel general Zhao Zikai with an army of more than 100,000 in the Gaobi area, and went down to Jiezhou (now Jiexiu County, Shanxi) without a fight, and then raised the victorious army to capture Yang Liang alive, thus resolving the first major crisis after Yang Guang ascended the throne.
Therefore, it can be said that Yang Guang was able to successfully usurp the throne and consolidate his power, thanks to the Yang Su and Yang Yue brothers. For this reason, the situation stabilized later, with Yang Guang's brutality, and he was very suspicious of Yang Sugong's high power, arrogant by nature, and a dangerous person, worried that the other party would rebel. However, Yang Guang considered that the other party had made a significant contribution to himself, although he always hoped that he would die soon, but did not get rid of him publicly, and only asked the medical officer about his condition continuously during his illness, and his intention was of course self-evident.
Seriously speaking, although Yang Su has caused a lot of criticism in terms of human conduct, he is not bold enough to germinate rebellious ambitions. He clearly knew that Yang Guang wanted him to die early, but he did not use his military power to launch an armed coup d'Γ©tat, in order to avoid the other party's wanton accusations, affecting the Manchu clan, and even very interestingly did not take medicine or recuperate when he was sick, and finally died of illness on July 23 in the second year of the Great Cause (606 AD).
Yang Su was mourned, Yang Guang got rid of a big heart disease, in order to show that he never forgot the old feelings, he never treated his descendants badly, and extremely generously named his sons as officials. Yang Xuangan, as the eldest son of Yang Su, not only inherited the title of Duke of Chu State, but also was named the general of the Pillar State and the secretary of the Ministry of Rites. Yang Guang received the report on the front line in Goryeo, and the shock in his heart can be imagined.
Ask yourself, Yang Guang's treatment of Yang Xuangan's brothers is generous enough, grandma's, even this kind of hereditary aristocracy has rebelled, how can there be a reliable person in the world! In desperation, he resolutely gave up the major results that could be obtained at hand, and issued an order to withdraw troops on all fronts and concentrate all efforts to quell the civil strife.
Because the decree came too suddenly and unexpectedly, the army could not figure out the truth, and the whole line was chaotic, and in order to return to their own country as soon as possible, they discarded almost all the military supplies such as grain, grass, camp tents, and equipment along the way, which was no less than another great defeat.
As the saying goes, the country is in turmoil and thinks of good generals, this sentence is applied to Yang Guang at that time, which can be said to be very appropriate - on the way to retreat from the army, Yang Guang was upset and lamented the rarity of loyal ministers and good generals, and suddenly received Li Yuan's request to lead the army to quell the rebellion. Because he was the only magistrate who took the initiative to ask for an order to quell the rebellion, his soul invisibly felt a great comfort, like a long night suddenly found a shining lamp, thinking that in the end it was still a relative to be reliable, and on this alone, that cousin was much more reliable than other officials (of course, he just thought so at the time, and after the things changed, his mentality changed), and as soon as he was in a good mood, he ordered Li Yuan to stay in Fiberhua County (now Qingyang, Gansu), and control the soldiers and horses in Guanzhong, Longyou and other places, Cooperate with all the armies to defeat Yang Xuangan.
As expected by Yu Wenshi, in the early stage of Yang Xuangan's army, the nearby people suffered from labor and military disasters for a long time, and they had no way out, so that the responders gathered, and the number of troops quickly reached more than 100,000, which can be called huge. In addition to being proud, he divided his troops to go down to Cijian, Xingyang, Hujiao (now Bishui Town, Xingyang City, Henan) and other cities, which were very prosperous for a while. Later, due to the long-term attack on Dongduxia, he was led by Yu Wenshu, the general of the Sui army's left Yiwei, Qu Tutong, the general of the right Wuhou, the general of the right Xiaowei, the general of the right Xiaowei, the general of Jingzhaonei, Shi Wei Wensheng, and the Hu Benlang general Chen Ling and others. The graves of Yang Su and his parents, grandparents and other ancestors have all been excavated, and even many years after his death, there was a tragic end of corpses and broken bones.
To quell the rebellion, although Li Yuan was also ordered to send troops, but it was only for a show, and it was too late to make direct contact with Yang Xuangan's rebels, and the battle was declared over. However, after the rebellion was quelled, Yang Guang was praised for his initiative in advance, and ordered him to mobilize troops and horses in Hedong to suppress the rebel armies in various places.
It was not until that time that Li Yuan truly appreciated the foresight of Yu Wenshi from the bottom of his heart, and secretly rejoiced in the wisdom of his original choice, obtained the holy decree, quickly integrated the army and went to Longmen (now Hejin, Shanxi), defeated the Wuduan Peasant Army in a battle, and then incorporated a righteous army of Jingpantuo in Jiangxian County. Whenever the army went to a place, he always had strict military discipline, strictly restrained his subordinates from being kind to the people, and strictly prohibited harassing the people for no reason.
