Chapter 217: The Lawyer Is Killed
"You two," Katyusha said quickly, "don't say anything. [Ran^Text^Library] []:Music:Text:Novel 3.wxs520.om"
Still, Chilton couldn't stop it, "He broke my camera, like a Nazi." β
Brubaker replied with a sneer: "James, I think you broke the law in the first place, because you trespassed on someone's private territory. Didn't the Nazis do the same?"
"I have the right to report on things that destroy our resources."
"Iβ"
"Alright," Katyusha scolded, "stop arguing!"
Both stopped talking. Katyusha listened to the police officers tell the details of various violations. Finally, she walked over to Chilton, "You've trespassed on someone's private property. This is a crime. β
"Iβ"
"Shhhh You, Mr. Brubaker, inflicted bodily harm on Mr. Chilton, which is against the law. When confronted with trespassers, you should call the police. β
Brubaker puffed, but nodded. He seemed a little nervous, and he just punched Chilton in the face. The bandage on Chilton's face was small.
"As a result, you are all guilty of misdemeanors. If you are not satisfied, I will arrest you. You're both going to have to be arrested. One was guilty of trespassing and the other was guilty of bodily injury and battery. How?"
Brubaker blushed and complained, "But heβ"
"Are you replying?" Katyusha asked. There was ominousness in his calm tone. He hurriedly shut his mouth.
Chilton nodded, a wry smile on his face. All right. β
Finally, Brubaker muttered to Katyusha with a disappointed face: "Well, then that's it!" Last year, I worked for 7 days, and I was busy fighting against the early father, this is my life. And he sat in the office and belittled me, at all, regardless of the facts. People read what he said on his blog and think it was right
Target. I can't argue with that. Am I going to start a blog too? How can I have time?" Brubaker sighed deeply and walked straight out the door.
After he left, Chilton said to Katyusha: "He didn't build the factory because he was kind. Making money is his only consideration. I've studied the ins and outs of it all. β
When she turned to him, he stopped squeaking, noticing the serious look on her face. "James, there's news you probably haven't heard yet. Lyndon has just been killed by Travis. β
Chilton was silent for a moment, "Linden? Strickland, the lawyer? You're not mistaken, are you?"
"I'm afraid I'm not mistaken."
The blogger's eyes scanned the floor of the emergency room, the green and white tiles, mopped clean, but scarred by years of being worn down by the heels and soles of those impatient shoes. "But Lyndon was following the post chain against the seawater purification plant, not the post chain of 'Cross'. No, Travis won't have anything to do with him. Someone else did it. Lyndon has offended a lot of people. He is the plaintiff's lawyer and always takes on some controversial cases. β
"The evidence is clear, it's Travis who did it."
"But why?"
"We think it's because his posts support you. It's a different chain of posts though, but it doesn't matter. We think Travis is expanding his targeting. β
Chilton became serious and fell silent.
He asked, "Is it because he posted a post that agreed with me?"
She nodded, "There's another thing that worries me, and that's that Travis is looking for you too." β
"But what does he have to do with me? I didn't say a word about him. β
She continued: "He'll be eyeing anyone who supports you. If this situation continues, the result will be that he will be angry with you as well. β
"Do you really think so?"
"I think it would be a bigger price for us to ignore that."
"But my family"
"I have ordered a car to wait outside your house, with a police officer assigned to you."
"Thank you...... Thank you. I'll tell Pat and the kids to be on the lookout for anomalies. β
"Are you alright?" She nodded at the bandage.
"It's nothing."
"Need to send you home?"
"Pat is coming to pick me up."
Katyusha was about to walk out, "Oh, for God's sake, just let Brubaker go." β
Chilton's eyes narrowed, "But do you know what the consequences are, plants will ......" he said no more, raising his hand in surrender, "Okay, okay." I don't touch his territory anymore. β
"Thank you."
Katyusha walked out, turned on her phone, and 30 seconds later the bell rang, it was Hugh. She was relieved to see his phone number pop up.
"Hey."
"I just heard the report. Chilton, he's been attacked too?"
"He's fine." She explained what had happened.
"Trespassing. He deserved it. I called the bureau. They got the crime scene report of the Strickland shooting. I forced them to do it quickly. But nothing useful came out. β
"Thank you." Katyusha lowered her voiceβwhich would make her happyβand told Hugh that she had an interesting meeting with Hamilton.
"Too many cooks burn the soup."
"I want to cook them in soup," Katyusha whispered, "and increase the heat." β
"Royce wants to shut down the blog?"
"Yes, I'm worried that it will affect the public image." Hugh said, "I really feel sorry for Chilton."
"If you stay with him for 10 minutes, you won't feel that way."
"Actually, I wanted to call you, Hugh. I'm going to invite my parents over for dinner tonight. She needs support. I would be glad if you could come. She added, "You and Anne and the kids are all here." β
Hugh paused for a moment and said, "I'll be done." The container case tossed me enough. Anne went to the capital. An art museum is hosting an exhibition of her latest photography. β
"Really. That's great. Katyusha remembered the scene that had happened yesterday after her meeting with Ernie: as they were preparing for dinner, she overheard a discussion on the phone about Anne's imminent business trip. Katyusha had many opinions about this woman, the most perfect of which had to do with her talent as a photographer.
After hanging up the phone, Katyusha continued to walk towards her car, she took out the earbuds of her iPod, ready to listen to music. She searched for tunes and wanted to listen to Latin music or Celtic music. Just then, the phone rang. The caller ID is Jonathan.
"Hey." She said.
"The California Bureau of Investigation is all done here. Chilton was attacked. What happened? Is he alright?"
She gave the details. He was relieved that no one was seriously injured. But she sensed in his tone that he had something to say. She stopped, and he asked, "Katyusha, are you near the office?"
