Kong Rong wanted to see what kind of person Li Ying was, so he went to Li Ying's house and knocked on the door, and said to the doorman: "I am a son of Li Juntong's family." The gatekeeper told Li Ying that Li Ying invited Kong Rong to meet, so he asked, "Did Grandfather Gao Ming ever have a relationship with me?" ”

Kong Rong said, "Yes. The ancestor Confucius and your ancestor Li Laojun (that is, Lao Tzu) are the same virtue and synonym, and it is also a teacher-friend relationship. Then, I Kong Rong and you are a family for the ages. Everyone here was amazed. Taizhong doctor Chen Wei arrived later, and the people present told Chen Wei about it. Chen Wei said: "Oh, people are smart when they are young, but they may not be of great use when they grow up. Kong Rong followed his words and said, "According to what you say, aren't you quite smart when you are young?" Li Ying laughed and said, "You will definitely have a great future in the future." ”

When Kong Rong was thirteen years old, his father died, and his grief was excessive, and he needed someone to help him to stand up, and the state praised him for his filial piety. At the same time, Kong Rong is a good learner by nature, well-read, very talented at a young age, and began to be known to everyone, but what made Kong Rong most famous was helping Zhang Jian later.

At that time, Zhang Jian in Shanyang was hated by Hou Lan, who concealed the name of the accuser and sent the chapter to the state and county to arrest Zhang Jian. Zhang Jian was friends with Kong Rong's brother Kong Bao, so he fled to Kong Bao's house, but Kong Bao was not there. At this time, Kong Rong was sixteen years old, and Zhang Jian thought that Kong Rong was young and did not tell him. Kong Rong saw Zhang Jian's embarrassed appearance and said to Zhang Jian: "Although my brother has not returned from abroad, can't I be your host?" Therefore, Zhang Jian was left to live in his house.

Later, the matter leaked out, and people below the prime minister secretly suppressed the matter, and Zhang Jian was able to escape. But the Kong family was not spared, Kong Bao and Kong Rong were arrested and sent to prison, but everyone didn't know who the two of them were who shielded Zhang Jian. As a result, the two brothers scrambled to confess their guilt, and Kong Rong said: "I am the one who shelters and hides Zhang Jian, and the guilt belongs to me." Kong Bao said: "Zhang Jian came to me, it is not my brother's sin, the sin is mine, and I am willing." The officials asked their mother, who said, "I am responsible for the elder in the house." "A fight to the death, the county suspected that it could not be decided, so it asked the court for instructions. The edict finally convicted Kong Bao. Kong Rong got his name because of this, and he was as famous as Tao Qiuhong and Chen Liubian Rang in the plains.

After Kong Rong's reputation was greatly enhanced, the state and county were appointed by courtesy, but they were not accepted. Recruit Situ Yang Cifu. Henan Yin Guan's subordinates thought that they had lost face, and they sent swordsmen to chase and kill Kong Rong, and some guests said to He Jin: "Kong Wenju has a heavy name, if the general has a grudge with him, the people of the Quartet will go away." It is better to treat him with courtesy, so that everyone in the world knows that the general has a big heart. He Jin agreed, so after being appointed as a general, he conquered Kong Rong, promoted him as the high rank, and moved to serve the imperial history. Kong Rong also returned home because of a disagreement with his boss Yu Shi Zhongcheng Zhao She.

Later, Kong Rong was conscripted as a subordinate of Sikong Peng and appointed as a military candidate in Beizhong. Slowly gathered more than 40,000 men and women who were bewitched by the yellow scarves by the officials and ordinary people, and then set up cities, set up schools, show Confucianism, and recommend virtuous Zheng Xuan, Peng Xuan, Bing Yuan, etc. Treat the people of the country, even if there is only a small good deed, they are treated with courtesy. The people of the country have no descendants and those who have passed away, so they help to bury them. Because of his political voice, he was called "Kong Beihai" by the people of the time.

It is said that when Kong Rong was the minister of Beihai, he saw a man crying his dead father by the grave on the road, but his face was not haggard at all. Kong Rong thought that he was unfilial, so he killed this person.

Later, Kong Rong was surrounded by the Yellow Turban Guan Hai, and the situation was urgent. So he sent Tai Shici to ask Liu Bei, the prime minister of the plains, for help. Liu Bei said in surprise: "Kong Beihai actually knows that there is a Liu Bei in the world." So he immediately sent troops to relieve the siege. At that time, Yuan Shao and Cao Cao's power gradually became stronger, and Kong Rong knew that the two were going to usurp the Han family after all, so he was unwilling to take refuge in them. His staff Zuo Chengzu persuaded Kong Rong to marry Yuan Shao or Cao Cao, and Kong Rong was angry and killed him. Kong Rong was conceited of his talent and temperament, and was determined to calm the crisis of the country, but because of his rough talent and empty thoughts, he did not succeed.

After Kong Rong served for six years, he was recommended by Liu Bei to lead the Qingzhou Thorn History.

In the first year of Jian'an (196 years), Yuan Tan attacked Beihai, the two sides fought from spring to summer, there were only a few hundred soldiers left, and the arrows were shot like rain, and the city was already close to each other. Kong Rong still reads a few books and talks and laughs freely. At night, the city fell, and then fled to the east of Taihang Mountain, and his wife and children were taken captive by Yuan Tan.

In the same year, after Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty moved the capital to Xuchang, he recruited Kong Rong as a master craftsman and was promoted to Shaofu. Whenever the court visited and summoned the right person, Kong Rong often cited the final opinion, and most of the ministers and doctors at that time were only in name.
