In the first year of Xianxi (264), Zhong Hui secretly reported Deng Ai's rebellion with Wei Qian and others because of Deng Ai's dictatorship. Zhong Hui was good at copying other people's fonts, so he intercepted Deng Ai's recital and the letter reporting the matter in the Sword Pavilion, rewrote the words in it, made the words arrogant and arrogant, and had a lot of boasting, and at the same time destroyed Sima Zhao's reply and rewrote it with his own hands to make Deng Ai suspicious.

At noon, Hu Yuan led his father's soldiers out with drums, and all the troops ran out with shouts, and they didn't even have anyone to supervise, so they rushed to the city. When the clock was giving Jiang Wei armor and weapons, it reported that there was a loud noise outside, as if it was a fire, and after a while, it was reported that there were soldiers running to the city. Wei Qian thought that he and Zhong Hui would frame Deng Ai together, and he was afraid that there would be chaos when he returned, so he sent the protector Tian Xu and others to lead the troops to attack Deng Ai, and met them in the west of Mianzhu, so they killed Deng Ai's father and son.
